Chapter 11

The two friends made their way out of the pack house and into the forest. They walked for a while before reaching a secluded clearing hidden among the trees. In the center of the clearing was a small pond surrounded by lush greenery.

As they settled down by the pond, they both let out a contented sigh. The sound of the water and the chirping of birds was soothing, and the peaceful atmosphere helped Matilda forget about her worries for a while.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, three figures jumped out from the bushes, holding a cake with lit candles, and shouted, "SURPRISE!"

Matilda gasped, startled by the sudden intrusion. Jodie, on the other hand, burst out laughing.

"We heard it was your birthday, and we couldn't resist surprising you," Jason said with a grin.

Matilda felt her cheeks turn red as she realized that she had completely forgotten her own birthday. She had been so caught up with her duties and worries that the date had slipped her mind.
