Chapter 9

Penulis: Mountain River
Cayden walked back into the villa and instinctively headed straight for Tessa's room.

"Tessa," he called out softly, but the only thing that answered him was silence. Before this, the moment he came home, Tessa would always come running out, sweetly calling his name.

But now, all that was left was an empty room.

His wolf soul howled in pain inside his chest.

Staggering forward, he stepped inside, trying to find any trace of how much Tessa once loved him. But all those paintings he used to dismiss had already been reduced to ashes in the fireplace.

Just like Tessa, who was completely gone from his world.

He used to tell her over and over again not to fall for him. But now that she finally didn't, he regretted it. It felt like his heart was being ripped apart.

Just as he sank to the floor by the door, his Beta called. "Alpha, we found her."

When he arrived at the Valley Pack, he could hardly believe what he was seeing. Even when he'd patrolled the borders, he had never witnessed

  • Once I Was His Mistake, Now I'm His Regret   Chapter 12

Two years later, the program Freddy and I had been working on finally came to an end. We returned to the Blood Fang pack and held a grand bonding ceremony, witnessed by both of our families.Freddy held my hand tightly, unable to hide the joy on his face. "Good thing I followed you to the Creek Valley pack. Otherwise, where would I have found someone like you?""We haven't even finished the ceremony yet. Who says I'm your mate?"He didn't get annoyed, just laced our fingers together and gently nuzzled against my neck over and over.During the bonding ceremony, we exchanged tokens in front of the Moon Goddess, and kissed to the loud cheers of our pack.At the banquet, Freddy kept me close in his arms, blocking every single person who tried to come over and toast with me.I felt a kind of happiness I'd never known before. He made me realize that I was worthy of being loved like this, too. That night, lying in bed, we bared our hearts to each other. He looked at me with such tend

Cayden returned to the Blood Fang pack, but it felt like his heart had been left behind forever in Creek Valley pack. He couldn't stop himself from constantly checking in on Tessa.Every video his Beta sent back had Freddy in it, always by her side. And when he found out they were together, it was like something inside him completely broke. He wasn't that confident, powerful Alpha anymore. He moved through life like a machine, just going through the motions. He ate on schedule, trained on schedule, but not once did he smile again. He stubbornly redecorated Tessa's room exactly the way it had been before she'd left, like some delusional way to convince himself she'd never gone. His mental state was crumbling. He started sleeping in that room every night, whispering her name unconsciously in his sleep. He called her number over and over, only to hear the same "number unavailable" message again and again.Sometimes, just to hear her voice, he'd use an unfamiliar number. If she pick

Cayden's wolf was raging inside him, the jealousy and regret burning through every ounce of his sanity. He couldn't accept losing me like this. He wanted to go back and take me away from that other man. When he found me, I was sitting with Freddy around a campfire, handing out food to the pups.Freddy gently brushed a strand of hair from my forehead with extreme tenderness."Tessa." Cayden's hoarse voice came from not far away.I turned and saw him standing in the shadows. His once-cold eyes were now bloodshot and filled with pain.Freddy immediately stepped in front of me, shielding me protectively. "What are you doing here, Cayden?"Cayden ignored him. His eyes were locked on me as he drew closer step by step."Tessa, I know everything now," he said in a trembling voice. He reached out like he wanted to touch me, but didn't dare to."You're my true mate. You were the one who donated bone marrow to save me. Rosie was lying. I know the truth now."He thought I'd be shocked, t

  • Once I Was His Mistake, Now I'm His Regret   Chapter 8

I was in Creek Valley pack, a pack known for chaos on the border.I stood in a broken-down stone shack, sketching with a stick on the dirt floor, teaching the pups the basics of herbal medicine. It was my fifth day here.I thought I was just coming to provide some much-needed medical supplies and tend to the wounded, but I hadn't expected that the werewolves here didn't even know the most basic medical knowledge. Since I chose to be part of this program, I was going to do everything I could to help.I couldn't change the war-torn state of their lives, but I could teach them something useful that might change things at the root.Just as I was having the pups recite a chart of herbs, I heard soft laughter from the entrance of the shack.I looked up and saw Freddy Goldberg leaning against the doorway, his eyes curved into a smile. When he caught my gaze, he raised his eyebrows at me.I set down the herbs in my hands and walked over to him.Freddy was the Alpha heir of the powerfu

The bonding ceremony ended in chaos after that shocking mess. The elders quickly dispersed the crowd of pack members.Once everyone was gone, Cayden trashed the entire ceremony setup. He tossed the moonstone ring meant to seal their union straight into the lake.Rosie dropped to her knees and begged him to let her explain with a pale face. But he didn't even look at her.His anger and regret were eating him alive. He called over a Gamma in an ice-cold voice, "Take her to the punishment room."30 minutes later, Rosie was strapped to the stone platform inside the chamber.Cayden stared down at her, expressionless. "That blood was never yours to begin with. I'll help you release it."On his cue, a Gamma brought over a silver dagger and sliced open Rosie's arm.The silver burned her skin, and she let out a bloodcurdling scream.Wounds caused by silver never healed right away, only dragging out the pain. The Gamma didn't flinch. He carved a second cut. Then a third. Each one avoid
