Emilia

The sight of my best friend brought me a sense of warmth that I didn't know I was missing. Seeing her in all her felony was nothing compared to texting her or our long hours spent on calls.

She ran towards me like a child who had just been promised a candy bar.

I swear, if she didn’t know that I was pregnant, Bae likely would have jumped straight into her arms.

When we finally embraced it was like a homecoming. We stayed like that for a while, just holding each other in the middle of the office, completely forgetting where we were. The people walking by didn’t seem to care much. They probably thought we were just another pair of friends who hadn’t seen each other in too long.

Bae and her exaggerated antics always made me smile.

After a moment, we pulled back.

“Oh my God, what are you doing here, Bae?” I asked, still stunned. She could see the shock on my face, and it made her grin from ear to ear.

"Oh, I didn’t come here for you, I only came here for a little bit of sightseei

RichardIt's been three days since Emilia and Bae's little reunion. Things at my company now seems to be running smoothly.I sat behind my desk with my eyes glowing due to the reflection of my computer. I was going over the company's financial records, reviewing some data and making sure no one was screwing anything up.The kane group was expanding at a very rapid pace and I needed to make sure everything was right on track. The numbers had to add up, the strategy needs to flawless, and my employees need to keep being persistent. There is simply no room for errors. As I scrolled through the data repeatedly, the door to my office creaked open.I didn't need to raise my head to know who it was.The loud clicking of high heels across the floor made it clear to me it was the company's legal representative, Alisha Johnson. I didn't mind her company, so far it was strictly professional. She had been trying to make moves at me for months now but I didn't give in, and I'm glad I didn't. My

Richard Katherine sat still in the interrogation room with her hands resting on the table in front of her.I stood right outside with Emilia behind a reinforced glass. The kind of glass where we could see what was going on and was being said on the inside but they couldn't see or hear us outside.A female officer sat across from her as I watch we watched outside behind the glass. Flipping through a file. She didn’t speak immediately, just reading whatever information they had.I stood there hoping to get some answers about what had happened that night."Do you think she'll confess, she is very hot headed you know." Emilia commented."She doesn't have a choice, we have enough evidence against her to put her in prison whether she talks or not." I scoffed. "Either way she better confess." "You’re being investigated for drugging Emilia Kane," the female detective finally said, her voice professional and neutral. Katherine lifted her chin as she smirked. "I want my lawyer."The nerve of

RichardThe sun was just beginning to rise when I woke up, the soft light was creeping in through the curtains. The peaceful and quiet hum of the city outside was barely noticeable, but it was certainly there, a very subtle reminder that life was goinf to keep on moving forward. I quietly slipped out of the bed moving carefully not to disturb Emilia, who was still sleeping soundly beside me. I could never quite get over how peaceful she looked when she slept. There was something so calming about the way her hair spread across the pillow and the way she breathed so steadily. It made me want to protect her even more, as if nothing or no one would dare to touch her. It was always nice to wake to wake every morning and watch her sleep peacefully by my side I made my way to the balcony of our bedroom, stepping outside into the cool morning air. The view from out here was breathtaking, with the city stretching out in front of me, bathed in the soft golden light of dawn. I definitely pi

EmiliaThe time was exactly 7 pm when our car came to a smooth halt in front of the venue. Richard opened the door and came out first, then he turned and calmly reached out his hand to me. I placed my hand on his, giving a small sigh as I stepped out into the cool night air.We arrived veru early at The Golden Crown Hotel and Towers, one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. It stood tall and elegant, its glass walls shimmering right beneath the city lights. The entrance was beautified with silver drapes, white daisies, and long strands of neon lights. There was even a red carpet rolled out from the steps of the building to the parking area. Photographers and reporters were already swarming the entrance with cameras flashing like stars all around. As we made our way, side by side on the red carpet, I could practically feel hundreds of eyes on us. I looked down for a moment, a little shy, I hadn't gotten used to any of this, but Richard squeezed my hand gently, giving me the drive

JaydenThe moment Elena and I moved away from Richard and Emilia, I could feel the tension I’d been holding onto all evening starting to fade. I looked over at Elena. That soft, confident smile was still sitting perfectly on her face. It was like she’d just won something, and in a way, she had.“You did well,” I said quietly, not wanting anyone else to hear. She gave a small laugh, the kind that felt practiced and sure. “Of course I did. That’s just the beginning.”I watched people from the corner of my eye as they continued whispering and glancing in our direction. Good. That was exactly what we wanted. Attention. Disruption. Confusion. That was how we started shaking things up. All it took was a dramatic entrance, a few well-placed words, and one million dollars to make the room talk. And it had been worth every penny.Elena reached out and grabbed a glass of wine from a passing waiter. I followed her lead, taking one too. The taste didn’t matter much to me, but I figured it was a g

EmiliaThe morning after the fundraiser, everything felt like a blur. I was still trying to process the events of the night before. The fundraiser had been full of surprises, from meeting new faces to the sudden arrival of Elena Smith. The way she had stepped into the spotlight and o was now sure that she planned to take over her father’s position at Kane Group. The fact that she was Katherine’s sister and Marcus Smith’s daughter made it even more complicated.Something about her presence made me uneasy. I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more going on than I could see.The day started like any other, or at least it should have. We were heading into a board meeting, a usual part of Richard’s routine, but today felt different. It was about the expansion of Kane Group, a big deal for the company, but I couldn’t focus. There was too much on my mind. Maybe it was because of her sudden appearance, or perhaps it was Jayden's presenceWhatever it was, I couldn’t shake the sense

EmiliaAfter my brief little talk with Elena, I said to myself I wasn’t going to let her get under my skin. I had already had enough of everyone who were trying to intimidate me just because they had a fancier last name or a bigger title.I wasn’t here to play games or prove anything to anyone, no not anymore. I had my husband's support, I knew what I was doing, and if I am being honest, I had enough on my head without having to worry about Elena Smith and her quiet threats. So I took a very deep and long breath, straightened my composure, and pushed everything she said to the back of my head. If she wanted a fight, she’d have to come a bit harder than that. I wasn’t backing down, not now or ever.As I made my way across the hallway, I walked by one of the newer employees, a shy young guy from the finance department. I actually recalled his name, Daniel. He looked like he was trying to decide whether to talk or just keep moving.“Good morning, Daniel,” I greeted him with a little smil

RichardThe office felt weirdly tense and the air was thick with the weight of the discussions that had already taken place. I sat at the large wooden table in Elena office, across from her and Emilia was present as well. She seemeda bit odd, I assume I had something to do with my mother'sunexpected visit. The tension between Elena and Emilia was subtle but not unnoticeable, a quiet clash of strong wills that neither of them even tried to hide. I couldn’t blame Emilia for being wary of Elena. After all, Elena was a Smith and Katherine's sister and she hasn't had much fun with that family.“Richard,” Elena began withher voice smooth and controlled, “as we look at expanding the company even further, I think we need put some focus on streamlining our resources. Some departments need restructuring if we want to scale properly. This isn’t just about growth, it’s also about stability.”I nodded, my mind already processing the details of her proposal. “I agree. Richard’s POVThe room was silent again, all that could be heard was the soft beeping of the machines and the occasional rustling of the bed sheets as Emilia shifted slightly. I just sat there, watching her, not knowing what to say next. The weight of everything, the fight, the lies, the secrets, hung heavily between us. But I had to try, I had to make things right. After what felt like an eternity, it was Emilia who broke the silence. Her voice was weak, barely above a whisper, but I could tell she had been thinking about what had happened.“Why didn’t you tell me about Nora?” she asked, her eyes still closed, but I could see the hurt in her voice. “Why didn’t you tell me the truth?”I flinched at the question. My gaze dropped to our intertwined hands, and I squeezed her fingers gently, almost as if I could offer her some comfort through that small touch.“I didn’t want you to feel insecure about her presence,” I said softly, choosing my words carefully. “Nora’s part of my past,

Richard’s POVThe beeping of the monitor was the only sound in the sterile hospital room. It kept rhythm with my pulse, reminding me that Emilia was still here, that she was still alive. I sat beside her, holding her hand gently, watching her sleep. She looked so peaceful, but I knew better. I knew the fear and anxiety she must have been feeling before all this happened. And I couldn’t stop blaming myself for it.I kept staring at her face. It hurt to see her like this. I had no idea things would go this far. I shouldn’t have agreed to that drink with Nora. I should have said no, walked away, gone straight back to my room. But I didn’t. And now look where that got me.I leaned closer and brushed a strand of hair away from Emilia’s forehead.“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “I swear I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.”There was no response. The nurse stepped in quietly and checked the monitor. I stood and moved to the side as she did her job. I watched closely waiting for any reactio

Emilia"What the fuck?"The words left my mouth before I could stop them.I didn’t plan it. I didn’t mean to say them out loud. But they escaped before I could stop them. My mum always said I should speak like a lady. She always said swearing made people look rough and disrespectful. But right now? I didn’t care. None of that mattered.Because what I was seeing?I couldn’t believe it.Richard. My husband. With another woman. Alone.I stopped in the doorway. I couldn’t move. My eyes were wide open, frozen on them. My arms hung by my sides shaking. My whole body felt hot, like fire was spreading under my skin. It was hard to breathe. My chest ached, and my throat was tight.Richard and Nora. She was standing too close to him. Way too close. Her hand had been on his arm when I walked in. Now she quickly stepped back like she’d been caught doing something she shouldn’t. Her eyes met mine for a second, and I saw it, that flicker of guilt. But it vanished just as fast. She smoothed her d

EmiliaAfter Richard left, I stayed in bed for a while with my hand resting on my stomach. I didn’t move much. Everything felt heavy. My eyes, my arms, even my heart. I turned on my side, hoping it would help, but it didn’t. The room felt too quiet, like it was pressing in on me.Another wave of nausea hit me hard, stronger than before. I covered my mouth with one hand and breathed through my nose. I didn’t know if it was the pregnancy or just stress, but either way, I knew I couldn’t stay like this forever.I pushed the blanket off and slowly sat up. I waited a second as my head spun a little, then stood up on shaky legs. My feet touched the cold floor, making me shiver a little. I walked slowly to the bathroom and turned on the water. When I let the cold water run over my hands and splash my face, I gasped. It was freezing. But honestly, it helped. The cold pulled me out of that dull feeling. I let the water run down my arms and leaned over the sink, just breathing. After a while, I

RichardThe morning sun slipped through the curtains, warm and soft on my face. I turned over slowly and saw Emilia curled up beside me, still asleep. Her breathing was soft, calm. I smiled a little and brushed a strand of hair away from her face.“Emilia,” I said gently, my voice low. “It’s morning.”She stirred but didn’t open her eyes. “Just five more minutes,” she whispered, pulling the blanket closer.I chuckled, leaning down to kiss her forehead. “We have that meeting this morning with the partners.”She groaned lightly and rolled onto her back. “I know. I didn’t forget. I just feel… off.”That made me pause. “Off? What do you mean?”She opened her eyes slowly. “Like I’m gonna be sick. I feel lightheaded too. Probably just tired. Or maybe it’s the food from last night.”I sat up and placed a hand on her forehead. She didn’t feel hot, but I didn’t like how pale she looked. “You should rest,” I said. “Don’t push yourself. I can go without you.”“But—”“No buts,” I said firmly. “I’

EmiliaI stepped into the hotel room—or suite, or whatever it was called—and my jaw almost dropped. The place was insane. Big wasn’t even the word. It was stunning. The kind of room you only see in magazines or movies. The floor was all marble, so shiny I could probably see my reflection if I looked down long enough. Right in the center of the ceiling, this massive chandelier hung down like it belonged in a palace. It sparkled like stars were trapped inside it.The walls were spotless and smooth, painted in this soft cream color that made the gold decorations pop even more. Every little thing in that room looked expensive. Even the handles on the drawers and cupboards—they weren’t just metal, they looked like real gold. I didn’t know if they were, but still, they had that kind of shine.I walked into the bedroom and paused right at the door. It was beautiful. The bed was huge—like, you could roll around for hours and still not fall off. The sheets were bright white and looked so fr
