MasukChapter Ten.
Emily hung her tote bag swirling in her hands which was a bit heavy for her because she took her laptop, notepad home to round up her recent project with Graham's enterprises. She walked into the hallway, and entered another hallway that adjoins the one she was in before. She entered into Liam's office and dropped his usual coffee trying not to breathe in his usual familiar jasmine scent or think how sexy he would look in his suit. She brought herself back to reality as she figured she had drowned herself lost in thinking of her hot boss. She had a career, damn it, and she couldn't allow this attraction to get the better of her. Wouldn't life be so much easier if Liam wasn't her boss? She would have been able to avoid unwanted attraction. The longer she worked for him, the more difficult it was for her to hide these feelings. Lately she has been having dreams. Okay, fine. Fantasies. And he starred in every single one of them. How the hell could she even have these thoughts about him? It was flat-wrong, not to mention unprofessional. She veered around to see him approaching her, she wondered how long he had been there. Liam stood there behind her as she turned and moved around him to head down to her office while hitting his tall, broad shouldered chest. He stood still. Her eyes widened as she felt lost looking at him. A gentleman dressed in an all black expensive suit. Her boss. He held her gently, which made her to freeze in her place. She shrieked inwardly with a joyful feeling inside her chest. Her heart raced so fast. “Miss, watch carefully where you are going”. He said pulling her away. She felt her body shiver from his touch. “Sorry Sir”. She stated firmly. Her heart skipped many beats. “Good morning Sir”.She voiced, her tone a bit humbled. His manly cologne filled the room, a mixture of mint, jasmine and apple. “Good morning Emily,” He replied. His voice was deeper and even sexier. It took all the resilience from her to stop her knees from getting too weak and dropping at his feet. He looked at the office carefully. A smile crossed across his lips. “You are doing a great job”.He exclaimed. Emily smiled deeply pleased. Her efforts were starting to pay. He was beginning to see how useful she was. If only he would avert his attention and care to see her more than just his assistant. She sighed deeply. She couldn't only pray for a miracle for him to notice her. He fixed his gaze at her as he found his way to his chair. He sat down comfortably. “You should sit as well Emily”.He announced. She nodded as she sat down respectfully. “We are meeting with the clients today to discuss our requirements for the collaboration of our recent project, I do hope you are prepared”. This was her first responsibility in the office which she would be handling. She braced herself. This was a chance to show him how valuable she was to the company. Emily fixed her gaze at him admiring his pointed nose and charming eyes as he informed her of the latest development. “A contract between Glams and Graham's”.He continued speaking as he handed her a file. A surge of excitement went through her when their eyes met. Her heart raced so fast. “You will have to go through it and tell me your opinion about it”.He retorted. “There will be an appointment with the C.E.O of Graham's in attendance”. He continued. “I need to see the stuff you are made of”.He remarked. “Yes, Sir I will work intensely on this project”. She responded. “The board of directors will be ready to see your pitch on this project, the company wants you to deliver nothing but your best in this project”. “I totally understand Sir, and would do my best to outrun our competitors”. ……………… ……… Liam's POV. A flash of a white lacy bra haunted him, making him want to undo those few buttons to see if the lace…. Damn it. Get a grip. She stepped forward, and Liam had to force himself to focus on her face. Which wasn't hardship. He looked at her high cheekbones, long, dark hair and deep brown eyes. He had seen more than one man do a double take her way… and each time, Liam had wanted to throat punch the stranger. Guilt banded around his chest like a vise. He shouldn't be lusting after another woman. Getting drawn to Emily was just a by-product of working together for so long. He admired her because she was strong, with an undertone of vulnerability. And in her striking looks and perfectly shaped curves it was only natural he would be attracted to someone like her. But he has to keep his emotions beneath the surface where he could control them. “I totally understand Sir, and would do my best to outrun our competitors" .She told him with a soft smile, pulling him back to the moment. “You can leave”. He said as his eyes fell right behind her. With no options but to follow her swaging hips. He was human, and a guy. Where else could he look but those hips? She always had on those damn body-hugging skirts…he believed she referred to them as pencil skirts. Those curves would be the death of him. “Okay Sir”. She responded by leaving him and moving down to her office to begin her job for the day. Emily wasn't just his assistant, she was a woman who fueled his every fantasy.Chapter One hundred and forty-four. It still feels like a dream to Ashley as she wore her wedding dress staring at herself in the rectangular mirror hung at the front of the door. Her baby bump showed lightly against the gown she was wearing. Both of them had suggested that the wedding should take place before she gave birth. What amused her the most was when she met with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Makolo. The way they had welcomed her had been the best thing she had ever experienced. “You are welcome dear…I didn't know what took Liam so long to make this decision”, his mom announced. Bastien has also been very welcoming. “Welcome to the family”, he said as he hugged her tightly. “Thank you”, They talked for a while about Iris and his kid. “They are fine”, he replied. She left the place and hurried home to meet her sister for the appointment. They arrived at the bridal shop. Chloe brought out another dress for her to try it on. “I like this”, she said admiring the dress on
Chapter One hundred and forty-three Two weeks later Ashley woke up with severe headache and pains all over her body. As she rushed to the bathroom to vomit she couldn't help but notice how pale she had become as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. She wondered what was happening to her and decided to go see the doctor. She showered, dressed up, and made her way to the hospital. She arrived and met the doctor who examined her before asking her a few questions. “When was the last time you saw your period?” she asked. Ashley blinked her eyes several times. She noticed she had been a few days late already but didn't bother about it thinking it was stress. “I am four days late already,” she replied. The doctor hesitated briefly before speaking again.“We need to run a general body test to know what exactly is going on”, she voiced out. “Okay”, Ashley responded. It dawned on her that the last time she had been intimate with Liam, they had been so engrossed that neither o
Chapter One hundred and forty-twoAshley arrived at the conference meeting she was having with Liam's company. Today was the final day. The board members began to enter gradually and in no particular order. Ashley stood up and pitched her latest development. She was received with applause as soon as she was done. She smiled all through. Her stomach fluttered with butterflies seeing Liam watch her closely. She finished and stepped down, taking her seat confidently. Liam stood up and addressed the team as soon as the meeting ended. Everyone began to leave the meeting gradually. Ashley was about to find her way out of the building when Liam stopped in front of her. “If you don't mind let me take you home”, Ashley's first response was to accept but she gathered herself and managed to speak. “No, thank you”, But Liam wasn't ready to go. “Please…let me”, he asked again. She couldn't hold it anymore as she accepted. “Fine”, she responded. She entered into his car letting silen
Chapter One hundred and forty-one. Ashley was lost in deep thought about what her sister had just told her. She was mad at herself for reacting in such a manner. What was she thinking? She couldn't disagree that she had totally lost it. For the first time she accepted that there wasn't going to be a reason for Liam to accept her back. She had allowed her emotion to take control of her and messed up everything so badly. She allowed herself to mourn the love which could have been but didn't exist. Whatever it was she cried herself to sleep most nights and wallowed in self-pity. Chloe noticed but allowed her to grieve as much as she could. Emily and Rosie also called to check up on her. She informed them she was alright although it was a lie. She tried her best to focus her attention on the project she had. When she was done, she showered and dressed in clean clothes and found her way to the company. She was glad because the contract was a big one and she needed the money to
Chapter One hundred and forty She couldn't hold it anymore as she found her way to Liam’s place to try to amend their relationship. When she got to his place. The door opened, and her heart dropped as she stood face-to-face with him again. She was shocked to see her sister standing in front of her. “Chloe!”, she exclaimed. “What the hell are you doing here?.”She was about to speak when Lucas interrupted her. “Ashely!” he exclaimed, looking shocked, and angry? “What is she doing here ?” Ashley asked. “No, Ashely. That’s not the question here. The question is, what are you doing here? What do you want?” he asked, his voice edgy. She was dumbfounded. How could he ask her that question? “I came to see you,” she answered weakly, not knowing what else to say. Chloe spoke next. “I’ll give you two some space,” She said, walking into the house. Her heart shattered into a million tiny pieces. If someone had told her that her sister would betray her she would be the last person to b
Chapter One hundred and Thirty-nine. The next day Ashley found herself in Liam’s place. She agreed with her sister's advice to not give up easily on their love. She knocked on the door holding a bouquet of flowers ready to pour her heart to him when he came out. She was speechless for a moment as she stood in front of him. “Hello, Liam”, she voiced out. “Hello”, he responded with little or no enthusiasm. “I am sorry, Liam… I really am.”“It doesn't matter anymore, don't you get it?”, Ashley tightened her fist into a fury. Why did he have to act so nonchalant? She swallowed hard not knowing how to plead with him to accept her. When a thought crossed her mind. She had no option but to find her way to Emily's house. She was sure that he was going to listen to them. She arrived there and knocked at the door. Soo-jin opened the door for her. She hugged her tightly as they exchanged pleasantries. “It's been a while…you are a big girl now”, Ashely remarked. Emily came out hear
