Lost her

“I know you were angry at me about last night. We will go out tonight. Anywhere you want to,” Abram still hoped it was all a joke Myra was pulling on him.

“Denial will not lead you anywhere,” came her reply.

“You said you will give me a chance,” Abram finally broke down.

A chuckle was heard before she said, “I never said I will not divorce you.”

He felt like someone harshly pulled the ground under his feet. The memory of him saying the same to Myra flashed before him, and the pain of what she went through at the time seeped through every vein of him.

“Why—” he couldn’t speak, his chest constricted as if someone squeezed it hard.
