The door swung open, almost breaking it out of it's position.

“Grandma,” She gasped, eyes blurring with tears.

“Ivy” Grandma took slow but steady steps towards her before engulfing her in her embrace “Child” She sniffed.

Ivy retreated from the embrace after a moment, forcing out a smile. “It's okay to cry Ivy, you can't be strong everytime,”

“My parents.” Grandma froze. “What are you not telling me about them?” She asked.

“What did you hear?” Her grandmother's fragile voice flew into her ears.

“That's not what I asked?” She yelled making the old woman flinch slightly.

“Ivy, you have to calm down. What happened to you?”

“She's hiding it from you”

“She knows the truth and refused to tell you”

Those were the words that echoed in her ears as she took predatory steps towards her grandmother.

“Your wolf” Grandma breathed out.

“Yes my Wolf. She's out” Ivy smirked, coming closer to the the trembling woman.

“Ivy, it's your wolf talking. This isn't you”

“Well, you're wrong. I'm aware of what I'm doing” She spat.

“Ivy!” Grandma yelled.

The scream seemed to break Ivy out from a haze, her mind cleared instantly, eyes searching for her grandma.

“Grandma”

“Child”

“I'm sorry, I… I” She sniffed as she hugged her grandmother.

“It's alright, it's your wolf and you're not yet able to control her so we would start with that” Ivy nodded.

“My parents?” She asked again.

“Ivy” Grandma pleaded and Ivy looked away, swallowing the lump that was forming on her throat.

“I'm sorry grandma” She breathed out.

Grandma patted her head with a smile. “It's alright dear,”

“You need to name your wolf” Grandma started and Ivy could hear her wolf purr on agreement.

“I don't even know what it looks like,”

“Envision her in your minds eye and she would present herself to you. You would get to see her by the next full moon” Grandma said.

Ivy took a deep breath before she shut her eyes. She wanted a pitch black wolf with glowing red eyes. They were powerful, she had always wanted one since she was young.

She heard a sound from her head, she didn't know if it was agreement or disapproval and then she appeared.

Misty.

That was the first word that came into Ivy's mind. A white wolf, that looked like she had just stepped out of snow, her fur glittered where the moon hit her and her eyes… streaks of blue skies, placed in a ball.

“Beautiful” She breathed out and Misty walked up to her, running her fur against Ivy's legs.

Ivy chuckled before patting her fur “Ivy!” She got pulled out of the maze.

“Misty” She smiled and she heard Misty purr in agreement.

“That's a pretty name,” Grandma smiled.

“She's pretty”

“She sure is”

Ivy spent the next hours with her grandmother, making stew, eating lunch and just gossiping about the pack.

“I've gotta go” Ivy stood up, dusting the imaginary dust off her jeans.

“Ivy.” Grandma called and Ivy turned to her. “Have you considered accepting the rejection?”

“I'm still considering” Ivy sighed before stepping out of the house.

But as she walked towards the field, she got her answer. She was never going to accept the rejection.

Zeke stood tall, bathed in the gold light as he ordered his soldiers around. His muscles packed on up a thin black tee flexed as he moved.

He was currently sparring with another army general and he had threw the man to the sand multiple times.

“You're drooling Luna,” Lucas appeared beside her and she smiled cheekily.

“Who won't when facing this delicacy?” She teased. Lucas made to reply but she silenced him. “I'm sure that's the look you always wear when you stare at Tessa” She added.

“Who said…” He stuttered.

“No one said” She grinned at him before waking away.

“Hey Stoneheart” As usual, her voice carried across the field making the men stop in their tracks.

“Continue” Zeke barked.

“What are you doing here Ivy?” He sighed, running his fingers over his hair. She stopped to stare before snapping out of it.

“Checking on me?” He scoffed and she shrugged. “You've forgot what you did at the kitchen, go and help there, not cause a nuisance, that's what I said” He spat.

“Really?” She raised an eyebrow “I'm the one that was causing a nuisance, she insulted my parents and me too. Your Mate” Ivy yelled. The field stood still, Lucas gaped. The soldiers silently retreated and Zeke's eyes burned into her with a fiery she couldn't ignore.

“You're not my mate” He spat through gritted teeth. His jaw tightened, eyes narrowed as a string of pain shot through his hands, leaving a fiery blue line in its wake.

“You felt that too right?” Ivy looked down at his hands and back to hers which mirrored the exact blue mark.

“I don't care. You…” His words were caught shut by the new wave of pain.

“The new mark says something else” Ivy took a step closer.

“Ivy get out”

“Why? Because you can't stand me witnessing your vulnerability when all you do is care for me” Ivy yelled at him.

“You know nothing about me”

“Then tell me, tell me you don't care about me”

“I don't care about you” He grunted as he doubled over in pain.

“Guess so” She scoffed, walking closer to you.

“You looked quite handsome back in the field” She said, her hands roaming down his body.

“Are you so desperate?”Zeke cursed under his breath.

“Yes I am. You're my mate”

“I'm not…”

“Complete it Zeke. Say it” She taunted, looking into the dark obyss of his eyes.

“Zeke?” She tilted her head, her voice coming out unexpectedly soft.

“Yes?” It caught Zeke off guard.

“Teach me how to fight. I want to learn how to take care of myself and you of course” She said.

“No” He stormed off.

“Stoneheart” She stumped her legs on the floor before running off with him.

“Wait, Stoneheart” She cursed.

Ivy woke up from her sleep gasping from breath, the dream she had felt too real to just be a dream. It was like the flames itself was licking her up. She felt burnt and exhausted and her bones felt like they were about to fall off. The pain was so excruciating and she was sure it was not up to half of Zeke's daily pain. Pain he had carried with him since he was old enough to understand what pain was. The events of last night came upon her and she sighed. She lost her parents also but she had a grandmother who took her through, who showed her the way but Zeke, he had known. Just a desperate uncle who assumed his father's position and didn't care to deeply investigate their death. A selfish uncle who had only used him as an instrument and a tool for his own selfish use. And if from what she was thinking and the evidence available, her parents were involved in Zeke's parents death, she didn't know how he felt when he realized she was his mate. Something clicked immediately, she needed

“Ivy,” Zeke's voice was shaky as he approached her. “Explain this.” She stood up and shoved the letter into his chest. “Why don't you explain this, Zeke? Is this the reason why…” Her voice cracked and she trailed off. “What are you doing here?” Zeke ran his fingers through his hair. “That's not what you're supposed to be saying. That's definitely not it.” She countered. “Just… leave.” He pointed his fingers at the door. “Are you for real? I saw my name there, I saw reasons, I know what you're facing, Zeke. We could work together and…” “You have no idea what I'm facing, Ivy. No idea.” Zeke grunted and fell on the couch. “Then make me.” She muttered. “Make me understand. Or are you just scared?” She pushed.“Scared?” Zeke scoffed. “Being scared would be better than this. I'm saving your life everyday, Ivy. You have no idea how vulnerable you would be once we're mated, you have no idea how many people are waiting for us to mate so they can come out you. You have no idea.” He snapp

As ivy left, it brought a change of tension and vibe in the dining room, everyone adjusted. Even Enid shifted a bit from Zeke. Darius's eyes were cold, lips pressed into a thin line as he tried to engage Zeke in small talks. But the small smile on Zeke's face couldn't be overlooked. He was beaming with pride and joy for reasons even he couldn't pinpoint. Enid's representatives adjusted awkwardly when realization dawned on them that they had been so carried away by the charisma of the girl their princess was supposed to replace. After dinner, Darius stormed off with Enid and her delegates following after him. Zeke watched for a moment before instructing the kitchen staff to do their work and he walked out. But he didn't return to his chambers just yet. He couldn't. So instead, he stood outside the hall, turning over Ivy's words in his head. The command in her voice when she addressed him, it was like daring him to say a word, daring him to reject her in public again. His eyes caugh

The pack is gathered at the main hall for a formal pack dinner, warmly welcoming Enid to our pack as Darius called it. Ivy and Tessa arrived the hall a little late when everyone was already seated. Tessa's plan to draw attention, one that Ivy despised but could do nothing about. When they arrived, they discovered Darius had arranged the seating arrangements. Enid was seated directly beside Zeke, with Darius sitting opposite her. Tessa opened her mouth to say something but ivy hushed her. Tessa's seat was beside Lucas who was seated beside Enid. She walked past her seat to ivy's assigned seat. Close to where junior pack members were seated. “Tessa,” ivy whispered. “I'm seating with you.” She stated. She negotiated with a girl that had an obvious crush on Lucas and took the girl's seat, close to Ivy. “Tessa,” Darius called in his sweet, charming voice. “You're aware that you're disrupting the seating arrangements I put in place?” He asked. “I thought mates were supposed to be toget

It was on a hot Tuesday afternoon when Enid and her delegates arrived. Ivy had known they would be arriving today, the whole pack settings had changed with Darius at the forefront. He spearheaded the new change in the pack, giving a beautiful and girly finish to most of the things in the pack. Ivy winced uncomfortably as she walked past and her mind went to Zeke. How would he feel with these new changes? But she remembered it was his bride coming home so he wouldn't care, her eyes twitched at that. A new lady - more like a bride, arriving the pack when she had been named Zeke's Mate was an insult to her name and she could feel some parts of the pack's inhabitants treating her differently. She forced herself not to care. Zeke had been postponing their night training for two days now and Lucas avoided her, even if he avoided Zeke more. The whole pack was standing at the entrance of the pack house waiting for Enid, under the flaming sun. Ivy's eyes were half closed because of the int

Zeke wakes with a new resolve in his heart. Avoiding Ivy Hale. Continued contact with her had caused more damage than good and only complete avoidance could solve his problem. He wasn't ready yet for her to know about his sickness, he wasn't exactly sure what she would do with the information. Lucas arrived early that morning, the files in his hands. “How have you been holding up?” He asked, falling into the couch. Zeke stayed silent, skimming through the documents. Lucas raised his eyebrows in confusion, before his eyes twinkled and he leaned in. “And how's your training with Ivy?” he asked. That did it, Zeke's eyes whipped towards him immediately, wide and predatory, taking Lucas unaware. “What did you see?” Zeke shot at him. “What do you mean?” Lucas was grinning now, he could feel it in his bones that something had happened and he was about to get to the root of it. “What do you mean by that question?” Zeke asked again. “I don't know, what do you think I mean?” Lucas chuckled
