Chapter 2

I was brought up in an orphanage home, I don't know my parents or any relative. The head of the orphanage home told me that some doctors brought me here because I was left in the hospital. The head of the orphanage home adopted me and gave me her surname. She always said "You are an angel to me" She named me Laura Angel Williams.

When I reached the age of 18, I started working to save some money to get an apartment and to furthermore on my education, I was a high school graduate. Mrs. Williams, my adopted mother sent me to school up to High School.

I don't have friends in the orphanage home, the kids always bullied me because of that I feel dejected and I decided to be on my own.

After two years, I was able to gather some money and left the orphanage home, I applied to some universities to further my education but I was rejected.

Suddenly the doorbells jolted me out of my thoughts, I stand up and opened the door revealing my friend Stacy.

She came in and went straight to the kitchen and put down the groceries bag she was holding. She walks up to me and hugs me.

"Please stop crying" She patted my back trying to calm me down.

"I already accept that I am good for nothing girl, there is nothing I did that was right that is why my biological parents left me," I said to her

She tried her best to cheer me up and went to the kitchen to cook, after eating she said we should go out but I refused and she put a movie for us to watch.

I met Mateo in a cafe that I am working at, we first became friends before he asked me out after some months of our friendship, since then we started dating. He always told me that I am good and those people that bullied me are blind that did not know my worth,

He always encourages me and supports me in whatever I do. When my application to the second university was rejected, I felt sad but he told me not to give up and keep on trying but I am tired of being rejected so I decided to focus only.

I can't believe that after all that we went through together, he will leave me. He told me that I am not a graduate so we are not compatible, I contributed to him being a graduate today, most of the time I gave him a part payment of his school fees, sometimes I paid for his house rent, groceries, for him and like that.

The next day I went home back to my mum, maybe if I spend a day with her I will be fine. I hope so.

"My Angel," She said immediately she saw me, I hugged her and started crying.

"Please don't cry, both of you are not meant to be together," She said and rubbed my back.

She led me inside her office and told me to sit down, she talked to me and advised me a lot. I spend the day with her and the kids in the orphanage.

I wake up to the ringing of my phone, I looked at the time and it is 2 pm. Don't tell me that I have been sleeping since yesterday evening.

"Why not, after you eat sleeping pills" My subconscious mocked me.

I rubbed my face and about to head to the bathroom when my phone rings again.

"Hello Laura, where are you? What happened to you? Are you sick? Hope there is no problem?" Stacy asked me.

"I am at home, nothing happened to me, I am not sick, there is no problem. That is all the answer to your questions" I said running my hand through my hair.

"What happened to you? Why don't you open the door for me yesterday night when I came to your place?" I made my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

"I have lost my job and I am sleeping that is why I was unable to open the door for you" But she has my keys, why didn't she open the door by herself?

"Laura Angel William" Stacy calling my full name meaning I am in trouble. "Don't tell me that you have eaten all the snacks in the supermarket and some sleeping pills" She screamed at me.

"Not like that, it is just ………….." She hangs up on me before I finish my statement. That means she is coming.

I quickly brush my teeth and went to the living room to clean up before she gets here, I can't believe that I made all this mess I am seeing in the living room.

First, I pack all the snacks bags and put them on the counter in the kitchen, I take the leftover ice cream bowl and put it in the freezer and I throw the empty bowl and clear all the pizza box and other things.

"Don't bother to clean anything because I already know what you did" I heard my friend's voice while brushing the floor.

She walked up to me and smacks me at the back of my head.

"How many times have I told you not to take sleeping pills again?" She asked hitting me at the back of my head.

"I am sorry, you know if I don't take it I can't sleep" I said to her

"Sorry for yourself, you are lucky that I forget your apartment key at home yesterday if not I will have empty a cold bucket of water on your head" She joins me in cleaning.

We start cleaning together while doing that she asks me what happened at work that makes me lost my job and I explained everything to her.

"I am now jobless," I said trying to pick a chocolate bar on the table.

"If you try to take that, you are dead," She said and hit me at the back of my hand.

"Day before yesterday, my fiancé call off the wedding and left me, yesterday I lost my job" I let out a sad laugh "I am such a pathetic human being," I said with tears falling from my eyes.

"Please Laura, don't say that" She moves closer to me and hugs me. 

"Mrs. William that named me Angel did a big mistake, she supposed to name me bad luck or Devil," I said with tears.

"Laura please stop it, you are such a nice girl, you are an Angel. Please always think positively and don't be insecure about yourself, better days are coming your way. Taking sleeping will not stop your problem it will only cause more trouble for you most especially your health" She hugs me and pat my back telling me to calm down. 

The next day, I wake up to someone shaking me and calling me. 

"Good morning Angel" I open my eyes to see Stacey, she decided yesterday that she will be calling me Angel, not Laura. 

"Good morning how was your night?" I asked her.

"Fine and you?" I nodded stretching my muscles.

"I have prepared breakfast for you and some other foods, you can eat for lunch and there are some snacks on the kitchen counter you can have them if you feel like munching on anything" I sit there staring smiling at her and she continues "Laura Angel William" She moves closer to me and hold my ear "Don't let me see you eating chocolate or any junk food"

"OK madam" I stand up and hug her. 

"I am going to work, see you later. I am sleeping here again tonight, so behave yourself" She said and walk out of my room.

I stand up from my bed and made my way to the bathroom, I brush my teeth then take shower. I went to the kitchen and saw my breakfast, I open the fridge and saw all the foods she made for me. 

I discovered that she packed all the junk foods and snacks I bought from the supermarket, even I can't find my sleeping pills I know she has kept it.

I picked up my phone and called her. 

"Hey dear, thank you so much, Stacy, I don't know how and where I will be today without you," I said to her as soon as she picked the call. 

"You are welcome. Please take care of yourself" She said.
