I stepped out of the bathroom, feeling the soft warmth of the towel against my damp skin. My freshly washed hair clung to my shoulders, and my bare feet padded softly against the floor. I tightened the robe around my waist, expecting to see Kai lounging lazily in bed, but the room was empty.

With a soft sigh, I walked downstairs, feeling the faint ache in my muscles from earlier activities—a reminder of Kai’s endless appetite. My steps slowed as I neared the living room, and there he was, entering through the front door, holding two large shopping bags.
