Chapter 4. A Confession

Weeks went by and I became so busy with our company as well as Shane. She already went to the Us for the fashion show. We sometimes call and message each other when we have time. She told me that tomorrow the event will be shown live on television for world wide showing. I promised her that I was going to watch it but she didn’t know that I would come there personally by tomorrow.

“Dad, Mom, I'm going to the US tonight. I wanted to surprise Shane,” I said while we were having our breakfast.

“Wow! My precious is so sweet, don't you think Margareth?” Dad said and I know that he’s teasing me.

“I have no comment Bernard, just mind our business cooperation with Shane's family okay.”

I sigh and continue eating. My mom is just filled with thoughts all about business all about how our company will grow even more. I felt so sad that she didn’t even think of my happiness even just a little. My dad held my hand to comfort me.

I went first to the company after breakfast and when I was already at the door of my office my secretary was running towards me.

“Boss, before you enter I want you to know that Miss Amber Monticello is waiting for you inside.”

“Amber? What is she doing here?” Uhm..okay you may go I will handle this.”

Amber is my ex-girlfriend. I broke up with her because she’s too demanding and obsessive. I opened the door and saw her at my table waiting for me.

“Roxy, Honey!” She clings to me and hugs me.

“What are you doing here Amber?” I said and removed her arms around my neck.

“Roxy, you know that I won’t give up on you right? Please give me another chance. I know that you love me.”

I sat on my table and read the documents that my secretary left there but she suddenly sat on my lap.

“Amber, get off me.” I said coldly.

“Honey, I will do whatever you want. I will follow your orders, I will change. I promise so come back to me please.”

Amber caressed my lips and kissed me but I pushed her immediately, “Stop this Amber, we are already over and we are not in that kind of serious relationship. I know that you have another lover than me so please forget about me.”

“No! I won’t let you leave me Roxy! Why are you like that? We have had a good relationship before. Why all of a sudden you just throw me away?” Amber said while crying.

“I’m in love with someone else and we are already dating so you and I are impossible now.”

I stood up and opened the door, “Please leave Amber.”

She walked near me and slapped me on my face, “I will never give you to anyone!”

After she left my secretary went inside and saw my swollen face, “Boss! My God! What does that freak girl do to you?”

“She’s mad at me like crazy and slapped me. Next time don't allow her inside my office.”

“Yes Boss, I understand. But first let me treat your wound.”

She went outside for a minute to bring some ice from our pantry. She’s Rhian Santos. I hired her three years ago. She’s a good employee, hardworking and intelligent. She knew that I am a lesbian because she caught me kissing Amber here at my office.

“Boss, here’s the ice, let me put it on your face,” Rhian said while smiling so sweetly.

Sometimes I felt that Rhian had a crush on me. I don’t know but she gave me vibes. She carefully pressed the ice on my swollen face and when I looked at her I saw her staring at me lovingly.

“Rhian, did you like me?” I asked her directly to clear her feelings immediately.

She was so shocked when I asked her. The ice even slipped on her hand because of shocked.

“Bo-ss..I..” She looked directly into my eyes and answered me.

“Yes, I like you. I admired you.”

“Wai-t..Rhian, maybe you are just confused because you saw me kissing a woman here and now you are curious about that maybe.”

“It’s not like that..I really like you romantically. This is the first time I fell in love with a woman. I know that I am not fit for you, that I’m not even qualified to fall in love with you but.. I can’t help it. What should I do?Tell me.”

I saw her teary eyes. I am weak when a woman cries in front of me so I hug her, “Rhian, thank you so much for admiring me and for liking me but I already have a girlfriend. I apologize but I can’t entertain your feelings for me.”

“No, please don’t apologize. I should be the one to tell you that I’m sorry but...please let me admire you and like you. I won’t bother you about how I feel, just let me like you.”

I wiped her tears and smiled at her, “Alright.”

She smiled and thanked me. Rhian goes back to her work. I sigh heavily, my headache a little for what's happening right now. I didn’t expect to have days like this. I can’t fire my secretary because of her feelings towards me. I need her hard work and competence and she’s a trusted one. I hope everything will be okay despite what happened today.

I started to face the documents on my table when my phone rang. Shane is calling me.

“Love!” I said happily on the line.

“Roxy, my love! How are you? I missed you.”

“I’m fine, my love. How about you? How’s the preparation for the show tomorrow?”

“Everything is okay and set. I’m so excited for tomorrow. Don’t miss the show okay.”

“Yes I promise love I won’t miss out the show.”

We hung up after saying I love you to each other. I need to go home early today to pack some of my things. I wonder what Shane's reaction will be seeing me there personally by tomorrow. Time flies and it’s already afternoon. I talked to Rhian and told her that I need to go to the Us for an important matter. I told her the things that she needs to handle and she needs to do while I’m away.
