Aria's pov

Closing my eyes I savored the feeling of Malrik's mouth moving down the side of my neck.

His canines scraped along my flesh sending zaps of pleasure to erupt in my lower parts.

“Run for cover!” The sudden warning broke us apart, and I was lifted swiftly into his arms as Malrik's blue eyes searched for his man, Jasper.

Spying him he ran towards him as shots rang out from above.

Seeing Malrik flinching several times I grew concerned.

“Were you shot?!”

His jaw tensed as we

Jasper Durin's pov My half-brother's death didn't sadden me but I felt Aria's broken heart, and that was painful. Not being able to comprehend why she even liked the pale-skinned cold bastard I shook my head while I dragged his corpse across the bridge to his former kingdom. The guards were all shocked to see their king dead. “Ironclaw shot at him and you know they poisoned their bullets,” I growled sourly. “Will you now lead us?” Several of them asked and I told them that it was up to my grandfather since he was the original Dire Wolf King before my half-brother's and my father was. We had different mothers because that's how my grandfather raised our dad and then us, a womanizer. Entering his chamber I wasn't surprised by him being naked. He was in bed and surrounded by several naked women. Balder shooed them out after I told him Malrik had died. When he told me after they left that I must have a queen to become king, I baulked at first not believing I had heard him correct

Aria's pov Numb, that's what I was feeling as I walked beside Nathan to the Witches Gulch. “Nathan, I thought bullets didn't kill our kind, especially a Dire Wolf King,” I commented. Shaking his head Nathan sighed, “Normally that is true but Ironclaw uses silver bullets dipped in wolfsbane so they're deadly. I'm sorry you lost Malrik, you both seemed close.” My stomach rumbled and I pinched my mouth while Nathan rummaged through his pockets and handed me a meat stick. Taking it, I thanked him. “The terrain of the Veilspare is bipolar. You have valleys, cliffs, thick forests, and then dead areas,” I huffed. He chuckled softly and informed me that the Gulch was getting close. Eyeing him strangely at how he knew that he tapped the side of his nose and explained that he could smell the dead. I frowned at him and continued forward. Coming upon the first dead body my brow furrowed. “Alpha!” Wisdom shouted. “The king is searching for you!” Hella added and I stopped as they rushed

Seeing Malrik flinching several times I grew concerned. “Were you shot?!” His jaw tensed as we dodged the trees in the valley we were in. “Highness, you're bleeding,” Jasper gasped as he came up behind us. “Put me down, Malrik,” I demanded with concern. He did and I could hear him wheezing with each of his ragged breaths. “They are bastards using rifles. The moon council stated that guns of any kind were banned for use to overthrow another pack's lands,” Nathan stated. “Are the shooters gone now?” He nodded his head and said, " Yeah,” but he would still keep watching out for u

Aria's pov “Wake up!” Ashina shouted in my groggy mind, and I cracked open my eyes to see the morning sky. Seeing a familiar profile I said Nathan's name and he looked down at me with a scowl. “Hush, I'm going to try and convince the Harrisons that you're dead,” he whispered harshly. “People don't die with their eyes closed,” I muttered and he poked me in the ribs to keep me quiet. “Oh, my Goddess! Is that the bitch that lived in the shack?!” Chloe's voice screeched and I wanted to sit up at seeing her peeking inside the wagon. “She's dead Luna,” Nathan stated then added, “I'm taking her corpse to the pit with the other dead.” “Why? She's nothing special, dump her here and use the wagon for something better,” she snapped then whistled at the ATV driver to stop. “Guess I'm dumping you here kiddo,” he mumbled softly as he stood up beside me. Peeking at him I waited for him to carry me away from the others and said, “Join me at Witches Gulch, Nathan. You can be my head g

Malrik's pov Helena's icy lips pressed against mine as her hips rubbed against me, trying to get a rise. It was the same coldness that happened almost nightly and I'd grown weary of it. I furrowed my brow as I shoved her off my lap. “No! You're not my warmth. Be gone with you. Go return to my grandfather's bed, and pleasure him,” I snarled bitterly then glanced around for Aria. “The bitch froze your brain,” Isolfr, my Dire Wolf groaned. Standing quickly, I ran out of my room and then outside to my courtyard, calling out for my guards. “Bring me Jasper and the woman that is with him!” Killian, my head guard came up to me and said, “Jasper returned to inform us he was leaving with the woman then took off before we could tell him that Ironclaw warriors had invaded your lands with Ian Harrison leading. I believe that they walked into a trap.” Furrowing my brow I snorted and told him Jasper would keep her safe and not be so gullible. “Ian has returned with his troops?” I cr

Aria's pov We were stopped in the hall by none other than Jasper. I gave him a scathing glare as he told Malrik to stop and think with his head and not his dick. “Your grandfather must accept her first,” he added and I huffed. “I'm not mating with a grandpa,” I growled sourly and they both looked horrified. “No Aria, that's not what Jasper meant. My grandfather is Balder and he must be pleased with my choice of mate,” Malrik asserted to Jasper. “Did you tell him about Ronan's collection of wolf furs?!” I interrupted causing Malrik to eye me strangely. “I have just seen his highness, Aria and I have no new knowledge about Ronan's fur wall,” Jasper growled. “What is she talking about, Jasper? Is that psycho at it again?!” Rubbing his eyes, Jasper told Malrik that he should get dressed, and they could all discuss everything. Disappointment filled my eyes as Malrik brushed my cheek. “My grandfather will adore you and I will give you my mark before you leave here,” he
