Chapter 6.

The burning gaze of the sun on her skin was making her sweat profusely. It was a rough day for Lillian after she had spent half of the day inside the building, and now her shoes were making her feet hurt badly. She took a deep breath after walking out of the software company.

Lillian, utter some curse words under her breath before crossing over to the other lane to get a cab home.

She prayed silently that she would be called next week and given a job. She hoped to move out and get an apartment of her own.

The moment she stopped a cab, she called out the address to him, and he ushered her to hop in.

“A person of such beauty isn't supposed to stay under the sun.” The driver spoke, and Lillian resisted the urge to scoff.

“But the world doesn't care,” she uttered and laid her head on the back seat. He kept talking about random stuff, and it took all of her not to ask the driver to shut up and just focus on the road.

She wasn't in a good mood to talk, and he still couldn't sense it? Especially when she was only answering him when she thought it was necessary.

The moment he got to her destination, Lillian hopped out of the car like she was being chased. “Can I get your number?” The man asked and stared at her with lust in his eyes.

Lillian scoffed loudly and shook her head. She thought she had seen it all when Mr Andrew had asked for her hand in marriage, but there she was with another old man looking at her lustfully like he was about to rip her clothes apart.

“How much is your money again?” She asked calmly.

“I don't need your money. It was a free ride, but I will love to have your number in return,” he uttered, still trying so hard, and Lillian sighed.

“Thank you for your help. See you some other time.” She spoke and turned to leave while he kept calling, but she didn't spare him a stare.

Lillian walked into the compound and the moment she got close to the door, she heard whispers and suddenly, it seemed like someone was crying.

Without knocking on the door, she turned the handle and walked in, but halted on her track while glancing between Mila and a lady who was dressed like a celebrity.

Both of them turned to stare at her direction and she took slow steps towards them. “Lily, you're back. How did it go?” Mila asked curiously.

“Not so bad, the manager promised to send me feedback next week,” Lily said, sounding exhausted.

Then her eyes scanned the lady sitting close to Mila, her cheeks were stained with tears while she tried to wipe them off and act fine.

“Who is she?” Tessa asked Mila.

“Oh! Lily, this is Tessa, you remember a cousin of mine I told you about? The one who schooled in Australia, her dad is rich and all…” Mila tried to make Lillian remember and she nodded instantly.

“Oh wow! I'm Lillian, nice to meet you, Tessa.” She offered her hand while Tessa did the same.

“Gosh! I feel pathetic right now, this isn't the best way to meet someone who has heard all about me. I'm sorry, I look like a mess right now.” Tessa whispered and lowered her gaze. She was totally embarrassed.

“You don't look like a mess to me,” Lillian muttered sincerely, while staring at her well-designed nails and dress.

“Can I get a glass of water, please?” Tessa inquired and Lily stood up to get some water for her.

“She is so pretty, if I were a man, I would definitely ask her out.” Tessa whispered to Mila and she chuckled.

“Unfortunately, you're not, so tell me about this man who had the guts to make my cousin cry this much. Jeez! You must really like this person.” Mila started and adjusted herself on the couch.

“I do, Mila. You need to see this person, he is all you will ever want in a man. Tall, handsome, and also rich.” She uttered while Lily passed the glass of water to her and sat down too.

“Is it okay if I stay with you two, or is it a family issue I don't need to know about?” Lily inquired curiously and Tessa asked her to sit.

“So I met this handsome guy two weeks back in Australia, he came to visit actually not like he stayed there. The first day I met him at a restaurant, I fell in love with him. The way he talks, the way he smiles, everything about him made me fall deeper, and then we had a one-night stand, after three days of going out together. I thought he loved me, Mila. I thought he really did, but I was mistaken; he said we need to end things since his little holiday was over, and he couldn't take me with him because he doesn't feel anything, that we both only wanted to satisfy each other.” Tessa said and tried to catch her breath while the room was filled with silence.

“He sounds like an asshole to me.” Mila cursed and took hold of Tessa's hand.

Lillian didn't say a word as she tried not to remember her story. She had felt so much pain the day she caught her ex cheating on her, though she didn't get to see who the lady was. And to make matters worse, he broke up with her and called her names while he was the one at fault.

“Lily! Are you with us?” Mila questioned and waved her hand across her face, and she snapped back to reality.

“Yes, of course.” She spoke faintly and cleared her throat.

“I want to make him pay for all the pain he caused me, I had to confess my love to him, but he just dumped me like trash.” Tessa whimpered.

“It will be fine, Tessa. Just take a deep breath.” Mila tried to comfort her, but she shook her head.

“You just don't understand how much pain I feel right now. If only I can hire someone to take him down-”

“What do you mean? Count me out of this if it involves killing him.” Mila interrupted her.

Tessa had an idea in her head and she turned to look at Lillian. She took hold of her hand while Mila glanced between them. Lillian, who had a puzzled look on her face, uttered, “what is going on?”

“I know we just met, but I feel you're the only person who can help me out. I will pay you a huge amount for this-” Tessa was still talking when Mila interjected.

“Are you insane? Count Lily out of this.” She yelled.

“Can you just let me talk? Please. If she would rather not do it, I won't force her, she isn't a child, Mila.” Tessa fired and Mila kept shut.

“What do you want me to do?” Lillian asked, especially when she knew there was money involved, and it was the thing she needed most at that moment.

A light smile displayed on Tessa's face when Lillian spoke.

“This person is currently in the city, I had my man check every detail about him. His favorite club and all, but what I want from you might be risky, but I'm willing to pay for the job.” Tessa declared.

“Just say it, then I will decide whether I can do it or not.” Lillian pressed further.

“I want you to meet him in any way possible, show up at the places he goes to, make him fall for you and then break his heart. Can you do that? With how endowed you are, I doubt if he will resist you.” Tessa said confidently and scanned Lillian's face.

“It won't be as easy as it seems. How do I know where he usually goes, huh?” Lillian asked and itched her nape.

“I will provide all the information you require. Don't worry, I will be staying in the city for a while, until we succeed with the plan.” Tessa voiced out.

“How much are we talking about here?” Lillian questioned, she was already picking high interest in the game.

“I will pay you twenty thousand dollars for the job. All you have to do is pretend you love him, then break his heart in the most painful way when he finally falls for you. Just play by the rules of the game, Lily.” Tessa proclaimed, and a smirk played on her face.

“What if he wants to get intimate with me along the line? How about him wanting more than just a kiss and hug, huh?” Lillian inquired, and Tessa itched her nape.

“Then I will increase the price, $30,000 will be the pay. How about that?” Tessa inquired, and a grin was all over Lillian's face.

“We have a deal, then.” Lily uttered instantly, but Mila scoffed.

“Tessa, you of all people should know how hard your dad works for the money you are about to give because of a jerk. Come on, guys, let's not do this.” Mila added with a frustrating tone.

“I need this money, Mila. I can't stand Nora anymore, her guts irritates me.” Lily muttered and rolled her eyes.

“And dear cousin, as the only child, my father surely won't mind his only daughter spending his money. Mila, I know you care but let me handle this.” Tessa added and held Mila's hand.

“Fine! Fine! You two should be careful,” Mila mumbled, and Tessa gave her a tight hug.

“This man you talked about, can I see his picture?” Lillian asked anxiously, and Tessa nodded. She unlocked from the hug and dragged her bag closer.

She rummaged through it and pulled out her phone while scrolling gently on her screen.

Mila and Lily waited anxiously as each of them wanted to see what he looked like. “This is him.” Tessa voiced out and turned the phone to their direction.

Lillian gasped and widened her eyes. “Have you two met before?” Tessa asked with her gaze fixed on Lily while her voice was filled with curiosity.
