The Bet Between Heirs

"I think it's her, what is she doing in a place like this" Christopher asked surprised.

"Who is that?" Edward lazily asked unbothered by whosoever that they were talking about.

"Emily Parker, you are so familiar with girls dude how come you haven't heard of her Edward? She is really a full package with a pretty face" Donald answered.

She had dated a lot of men since her twenties, although they are so many rumors around it that she had always dated for money and ends up leaving her prey once she had sucked them dry.

Edward finally opened his eyes giving the lady beside him a signal to stop. "Interesting" he said and what else?

"Don't tell me you already have your eyes on her Edward, I don't think you would stand a chance. After hearing that she was into rich heirs who was ready to spend endlessly on her, I decided to give a shot but she didn't spare me a glance talk more of giving me a rejection " Donald explained.

Edward scoffed. "So she rejected you ?" He asked to confirm.

"I am sure you did also be rejected by her" Donald challenged.

"Then that is great, I have been looking forward to see that type of woman that would dare reject me. So are you guy in for the bet?" Edward's proud voice came.

Donald exchanged a look with Christopher.

"The rate is really high because I am not only going to make her accept me, I will make her marry me" Edward continued.

Donald and Christopher let out a big laugh. "You really think too much of yourself, Ms Emily had claimed that she would never get married. So why would she marry you Edward?" Christopher asked admist laugher.

"Who dares make the bet? Five million rate. If I get her to marry me within a week, both of you will give me five million each and if I failed to do that I will give you both five million each " Edward stated the stake.

"Alright" the three agreed instantly.

Edward arranged his white shirt and buckled his trouser standing on his feet he grabbed a cup of beer resting on the table and headed towards Emily.

"I really can't wait to watch this proud heir being rejected by a woman" Donald said excitedly.

"It is really going to be a good sight to behold" Christopher chimmed in.

Both of them watched in anticipation as Edward slowly approached the unbothered lady sipping her wine camly.

Edward finally reached her desk. "Hi pretty" his deep voice came and just as Emily turned to face him a wine from no where landed directly on his face staining his white shirt.

"Fuck" Christopher screamed bringing down his recording camera.

"Completely screwed" Donald added and together with Christopher they laughed out.

"You saw that right?" Donald tried to confirm.

"I did" that was definitely a sight Christopher replied.

"I hope your camera captured that?" Donald asked grabbing the camera from him.

"Helll.... Yes" Christopher replied and then they zoomed in the scene closer stationing the camera to capture the whole scene.

Edward used his hands to wipe off his face and giving a wide smile to Emily who was already looking at him with an arched brow.

"Is that also your form of greeting?" Emily asked.

"Of course, yes. Form my_" another glass of wine landed on his face and this time it wasn't from a random person but from Emily who was smiling softly at him.

"Why would you do that?" Edward's confused voice came.

"I was just giving you a greeting, don't tell me you are upset?" She stood grabbing her bag and turned to leave but paused turning back to Edward.

"You know what? I have not seen a man going to approach a lady looking so messed up like he came from the gutter" she turned again but stop half step, she turned back at Edward grabbing the last bottle of wine remaining she poured it all inside her glass cup.

"What is she up to?" Christopher asked confused." Don't tell me she is going to offer him a drink?"

"I don't know but in the next minute we will be finding out" Donald replied

Emily grabbed the cup and took two steps forward to Edward leaving only a step distance between.

She then poured the drink down his hair soaking him wet. "I guess you might as well need a complete bath because you stench" she stated still wearing that her sweet smile before walking away leaving everyone present inside the room in shock.

Edward scoffed and chuckled at the same time. She is really fierce and at the same time pretty interesting.

"Alright Alright we have come to the end of today's party "Christopher and Donald  ask everyone present to leave the room giving them tip to shut up and never utter a word of what happened today outside.

Then they walked to Edward who haven't recovered from the incident that had happened to him.

"You really did well Edward, at least she spoke to you" Donald spoke with an amused smirk.

"Yeah. And also gave him a bath" Christopher added.

Donald place his hands round Edwards shoulder comfortingly. "Don't think too much about it Edy, there is always a first time in everyone's life and it looks like you are not an exception to that law" Donald said.

Together with Christopher, Donald was really enjoying the moment.

"I must really marry her and make her pay for this humiliation that she had subjected me to this night" Edward swore to himself.

Emily walked out of the bar, it seems like today was already cursed as hell.

At this moment she hated everyone. She walked through the dark and somehow she managed to find herself at the beach side.

She wondered what she was actually doing here and why she was here at the moment.

The sea wind brew against her hair and watching the sea wave, her mind trailed back to those day she was a child that her parents had sent her off to her anuty.

She loves looking at the sea and always took her along.

Anuty why do you love the sea? Her little self had asked.

"That is because it is beautiful and beautiful things helps you meditate about the ones you love." Her anut answered.

"Everytime I look at the sea, as the waves creates those tiny particles at the surface, I always get to sea your uncle sailing in the sea and smiling at me " she continued.

"So if I missed my parents I can always come here?" Little Emily had asked.

"Yes dear. You should. You can always come here to see them. And listen Emily, your parents loves you the most just that at the moment they are still very busy " she answered her sweetly.

Emily could only give out a broken chuckle pulling herself back to the present. "Where there really busy? No. Are they really busy till now or they simply do not want me anymore anuty?.
