Chapter 3: Results Day, Part 1

In an auditorium of about one thousand students, there were maybe fifty envelopes. It is the law for your results to read in front of the student body as when you are classified, you are pinned by the administration. Depending on your academic situation, your schedule may change.

The headmaster who just happened to be a Superior and Dominant, go figure, was going to call each student one by one. The students would have to come forward near the podium and wait in the spotlight for their results to be announced.

The lights dimmed, and a holographic projector began its annual history highlights, a reminder of why we are all there. As much as I hated today and what was going to happen, I was fascinated with the history of our people and the laws that govern our land.

Essentially, about three hundred and seventy-five years ago, give or take a decade, there was a team of scientists who discovered an extremely specific sequence of DNA that was present in some human beings, and that sequence did something extraordinary to the molecular structure of the host body. This discrepancy was genetic, but not all generations necessarily had it. No one knows exactly the origins of how this anomaly came about.

Over the next several years, the scientists conducted top secret research and questionable ethical experimentation until they discovered a formula that could manipulate and “activate” that part of the DNA. Long story short, with the help of a special chemical compound, those that had the special DNA sequence could go through a “transformation” where their inactive superior genetics were brought to life and thus the term “supernatural” was born. Or in this world, they are commonly known as “Superiors.” The old children's stories called them werewolves.

Every Superior had similar characteristics such as shapeshifting capabilities into a wolf, faster healing, heightened immune system, exceptional speed, super strength, an incredible metabolism, flawless skin, and a mighty temper. Some Superiors were even rumored to have additional gifts.

Well, with the introduction of Superiors, a few governments who were power hungry saw an opportunity to use these advanced humans as personalized weapons and created super armies and began to attack other countries. Pretty soon World War IV started. It was inevitable.

Larger and more advanced countries started invading smaller defenseless countries , consuming the lands and resources, claiming them as their own. Slowly the individual countries of the world began to disappear until after twenty years of bloodshed, only ten countries remained, and their territories were vast. Each country was formidable in war and strategy. The last two years ended up in stalemates.

Desperate for peace, the countries all agreed to a ceasefire and sent their most decorated and highest-ranking generals with a proxy to a small island in the Atlantic. That was the biggest mistake. The generals were all Superiors and during the two months of “secret negotiations,” the Superiors betrayed their countries, and because they were given absolute proxy, they created the Treaty of Dominae República.

It was an archaic re-establishment of absolute monarchy with a complex feudal class system using a collection of advanced technology and information to ensure peace, prosperity, and most importantly compliance, order, and control.

The Treaty separated the world into the Three Territories. Territory One, sometimes known as The American Republic, took over all the land in the western hemisphere while Territory Two, sometimes known as The United National Republic and Territory Three, known as The Indo-China Republic divided the Eastern hemisphere down the middle.

The Treaty made sure that each territory provided and received essential supplies and technology from the other two territories so that no one territory could be fully sustained and operational without the others. There was also a Central Treasury and Inquisition Office that was established that oversaw all three Territories to ensure everyone was on par with each other.

Each Territory had its own King who could make laws for their own territory, but some laws such as Dominant Relations Act, Class and Rank System, Proper Education Initiative, and the Superior Initiation were universal and had to be agreed, implemented, and maintained by all three Territories.

The archaic feudal system comes into play thanks to the "Class and Rank System" which categorized every person into eight separate groups based on intelligence, skill, experience, and “gifts” or “powers.” The classes were color oriented, so you had Gold, Silver, Purple, Blue, Red, Yellow, Orange, and Black.

There were ranks within each class which were identified by shapes: star, triangle, square, and crescent. The ranks are just as important as the class and determine social status and respect. Star and triangle ranks classified Superior beings while the square and crescent shapes were reserved for humans.

Your class and rank determine your social status but also determine the industry of employment and subsequent wealth. The higher the class and rank combination, the more privileges, protection, and opportunities.
