The beginning of misery.
Alexa:
"Come here you fool, how dare you touch my stuff with your filthy hands?" A slap landed across my face as Natasha spoke. It turned my face as white as snow, but I dared not raise my head to stare at her, or even whimper. I had no right to.
"I'm sorry. I was only trying to arrange your stuff in order and I forgot my gloves."
She yanked my hair and made sure I fell on the floor, then she began stepping all over me.
"What the fuck is all the ruckus about sister?" Natalia, her twin sister, requested as she came towards us.
"Can you imagine? This fool laid her filthy hands on my stuff."
"What the…. Is that true witch?"
I was used to the name witch, and I dared not stay silent when I'm being called by that name. I nodded her head slowly knowing that I would certainly receive another round of beating.
"I'm sorry. Please forgive me."
She kicked me hard on my stomach, and I winced in pain. "I'm really sorry."
Their father Alpha Kyle came towards us, and that was the moment I knew I was done for. He would certainly kill me if he found out what happened, and why his daughters were ranting.
I went on my knees in pain immediately I saw him. "Alpha." I greeted, but he ignored me.
"Natasha, what's wrong, I heard your voice from miles away." He asked. She ran town him and pointed at me. "She touched my stuffs with her filthy hands."
My heart continued thumping harder as he stared at me with his big grey eyeballs. I swallow a lump of saliva down my throat. "Stand up." He ordered, and I immediately rose up on my feet without wasting not even a second.
"I'm so . sorry Alpha, it was…"
I received a resounding slap before I could even complete my statement. "Did I ask you to say a word?" He questioned, and I shook my head in negation.
He called on one of the guards outside. "Teach her a good lesson." He ordered and I was being dragged away. I saw the smile on Natasha's face, and I knew she was definitely happy. I had seen her with a guy yesterday in bed and I guess this was to teach me a good lesson for spying on them.
An hour later, I crawled to my room in pain and in misery. I was hurting so much. How could they all treat me like I wasn't their family. I laid on the bunk bed in the storage room. This had been turned into my room since I was brought to my uncle.
I am Alexa Williams. I'm almost 20. I guess my twentieth birthday would be another added year of misery for me. When I was 10, my parents were murder right before my very own eyes. I watched them get beheaded by a cruel monster with no heart of mercy
I watched my pack snatched by him, and I watched everything my father built since the day he was coronated Alpha crumble into pieces when he took over.
The wicked man who planned all of this from the beginning was him. My uncle. Everything came crumbling in just a day, and I became a slave afterwards. He could have killed me too. I wonder why he didn't let me join my parents wherever they were.
I picked up the old sheets and covered my body with it. I was still hurting so bad from the lashes.
Tears rolled down my eyes. This was cruel. Was fate no longer on my side? What the hell did me and my parents do to deserve everything?
My door slowly creaked open, and Tasha walked in. I rose up on my feet, and lowered my head.
She came close to me and used one finger to cover her nose, while the other was used to touch my hair. "You stink so bad. Yunno what?"
I remained silent, but when she yanked my hair, I was forced to wince in pain.
"I remember her." She said.
"You always have that look. Her eyes."
I didn't understand what she was talking about. "Your poor mother." She whispered, and my heart suddenly skipped a beat. "My mother?" I thought inwardly and allowed tears to roll down my eyes freely.
"She was fucking stupid. She had this innocent look too and I hated her so much. Her smiles, they were so stupid and it was so easy to always fool her. She never deserved what she got. My father was the one who deserved to be alpha from the beginning, but your throne snatcher of a father deceived everyone into making him the Alpha."
I tried to contain my anger, but I couldn't. Why was she so mad at me tonight? What was she reminded of? What really happened?
I tried not to push myself away from me because I wasn't ready to face the consequences of my action if I did. It was really clear she was only trying to provoke me.
"She was meant to be nothing more than a slave. Just like you." She said, and that was it. I lost it. I pushed her with all the strength I could gather, making her wince in pain as she fell on the floor. How dare she call my mother a slave, after everything my mother did for her, and Talia.
They had nowhere to go. My father took them in, and made me grow up with these bitches even though they always bullied me secretly. My father treated them like his. How dare she talk ill about My parents even though her father killed them.
I stopped breathing hard when I didn't see her move. She laid on the floor motionless. I tried not to be scared. It was only a simple act. Tasha always tries to get me into trouble using every means possible.
"You should stand up now. I know it's only an act. Fine, torture me all you want again, but I won't let you call my parents name." I yelled at her, but even after a few seconds, she didn't move. I was beginning to get a bad feeling. I started walking towards her, and I went on my knees.
"Tasha?" I called, but there was no response.
"Tasha? Please, I'm sorry. Can you hear me Tasha?" I called again, but there was still no response from her. My heart had already started thumping hard.
When I raised her head, I saw blood. I nearly screamed out loud, but then I held my mouth with my palm. If I screamed, I I would certainly attract someone's attention and if they found out, I would surely be killed immediately.
I crawled backwards. "Tasha? I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to hurt you. I swear, I swear, I didn't mean to hurt you. Please wake up. Wake up, why are you doing this to me? Wake up."
I had already crawled back towards her. I kept tapping her cheeks, but there was no response. I was slowly losing my mind already. How could she be this weak. The alpha would definitely not spare me if he finds out.
I was panicking already as I thought of what to do. The only idea that came to mind was to run far away from here. I had nowhere to go, but it was better than death itself.
I sluggishly rose up on my feet because they were shaking, and just when I wanted to take a step, my door creaked open again.
"Tasha?" Talia's voice came next and I immediately froze on my spot.
LEVII shifted a little in my chair, impatient for the council meeting to get to the stage I had been dreaming about all these days. I looked around at all the pack members seated in the council chamber. All eyes were trained on the front of the room, at the round table where the men who would give fair judgment on who was to become Alpha, sat. I was not the only one stealing glances around the room. Zale, who was a claimant of the Alpha title sat at the end of the table also, opposite from me. It was obvious that he was in a state of barely suppressed excitement. His eyes met mine, and he smirked before looking away. I hid a grin. He was in for a shock even though he did not know it yet. There was a loud thump that echoed around the room. Conversation ceased immediately. One of the chief council members, the one with a grizzled beard slowly got to his feet. "Brothers of the pack," he called in a carrying voice. "You all know why we are here, to decide on who becomes the true Alpha
LEVI"It's your son, I can't find him anywhere!" Mia fidgeted, her eyes sunken with fear..I immediately stood up from my chair in a panicked state."Where was the last place you saw him?"I asked Mia, barrelling past her."In his room,I went downstairs to get myself a drink and answer a few calls then came back to find him gone." Mia rambled, following closely behind me just as panicked as I was.I tried to calm myself as I practically ran to the security room…I was still pissed about finding out that Zale was responsible for my father's death and now this!I needed to focus. There was no way my son could just disappear without a trace.I took in a deep breath as I got to the security room and sat down. I began to surf through the security footage, trying to calm my racing heart.Mia was right by my side, scanning the footage from between one hour ago and now. I could practically hear her heart beating her chest. She was afraid and normal I'd comfort her but I was just as panicked as
ALEXA As soon as I stepped into the restaurant, I spotted Zale seated at a table at the rear of the restaurant, fidgeting and checking his watch. He looked around, but did not spot me at the entrance, as a couple of people were leaving then, blocking his view of me. He was obviously eager to have the ring in his possession, even though I was still five minutes early for our scheduled meeting. "Hi, Zale," I said as I lowered myself into the chair next to him. He started a little, having been engrossed in checking his wristwatch in what had to be the umpteenth time. "Alexa." His face split into a wide grin. His eyes danced with barely concealed excitement. "Just who I've been expecting. It's good to see you." He looked me over, his gaze lingering on the fitted dress I wore. "You look really good... Better than you looked at our last meeting."I shrugged. "I guess it's the satisfaction of taking my own pound of flesh.""Of course. Of course. I like the way you think. Only hypocrites
LEVIIt was night time and Alexa was getting ready to go over to Zale's to hand him the fake ring.Despite the simplicity of the plan, I couldn't help but to be worried about her and the plan. I wasn't one to scare easily but when it came to Alexa's safety, I was.I watched her through the window as she walked towards the car that was to take her over to Zale 's place. I still didn't like the idea of her meeting him but in order for us to be able to trick him, she had to.The starless sky was not helping the niggling feeling I had at the back of mind either. I know why but I felt really off about the plan. Alexa had told me I was being paranoid when I had mentioned my concerns to her earlier and I had taken it as the reason but right now I wasn't so sure.As if she could sense my eyes on her, Alexa turned around and our eyes locked through the window and she frowned as she noticed the worry in my eyes. She tore her eyes off mine and quickly glanced at the driver to say something I cou
LEVII walked towards Mike who was making his way towards me.'How'd it go?’ I have a question. He heaves a breath and buries his hand in his hair, “Nothing out of the ordinary really,” he starts, leaning against a nearby wall, “They just went on and on about who the new alpha is going to be and how the choice is going to be made this year. Apparently they’re making special efforts to ensure it isn’t the same as the previous year.” He explains and I nod in understanding.“Makes sense. Did they mention who exactly who the competitors this year are?” I asked, taking the spot beside him.“To be honest, it wasn’t really clear, they didn’t state it plainly,” He scratches the back of his head, an apology in his eyes, “They however mentioned the top two contenders are you and Zale.” He finishes, his gaze studious.“That’s…good?” I muss, my hand rubbing against my chin, an impulse I had picked from Alexa. “And the supporters? Enemies?”“We actually have quite a number of people on our side,
ALEXAI told Mia about Levi's text and we drove to Levi's office. The traffic was on my side. It was light and we got to the office in record time. As soon as I pulled in front of the building, I looked into the rearview mirror, schooling my expression into the expected one of fury. Mia waited in the car. I marched past the smiling doorman, completely ignoring his greetings. The other staff scurried out of the way when I directed my scowl at them. "Where is he? Levi," I demanded of the receptionist. "He's upstairs," she said, wide eyed with surprise. "Up in the conference room."Without another word, I went upstairs, already muttering angrily to myself long before I spotted Levi. He stood with his back to the wall, sulkily regarding people who passed by him. "There you are, you piece of shit!" I screeched as loudly as I could. I pointed an accusing finger at him as I marched towards him. As I had hoped, every eye in the corridor became fixed on me. Levi gaped at me, his expressio
