تسجيل الدخولFREYA “Seems your father deceived you about a lot of things.” Derek said. The words stung a little, but it was true. Father had lied to me for years. “And Joel didn't tell you the truth still?” Derek asked. “No, he only said father asked him to leave the pack just before things became so bad. Father had already drained and drank away the family's resources. After mother's death, he wasn't keeping on top of the finances at all. I wasn't surprised when he pushed me towards marrying Leo.” I answered, feeling embarrassed that I hadn't suspected any of this. “And you believed him?” “Why wouldn't I? He was my father. He had no reason to lie…” I wasn't so sure anymore. “Your father and mine were good friends, Freya. My father wouldn't have stayed friends with someone who was careless with resources. Something must have caused your father to change so drastically.” “That makes sense. What if Uncle Joel was involved in some way?” I forced my mind away from the thought. He was
FREYAMy eyes flew open, and I sat up, breathing hard. “You're awake, Madam. I will let the doctor know immediately.” I looked up and saw a nurse getting up from the chair beside the door. It took me a moment to realize where I was, and I nod as I remembered fainting in the hallway. Evidently, someone must have found me. Why did I feel so dizzy suddenly? What happened? I hadn't had anything to eat, but still, was that enough for my blood pressure to drop so suddenly that I fainted?Suddenly, I sense someone watching me. I look up and see Derek leaning against the open door frame, his arms crossed. His hair was windswept, but something about his hair added a sexy touch to the already extremely handsome man. “It's good to see you're awake.” He said, pushed away from the doorframe and walked into the room. I felt very self-conscious, wondering what had brought him here. Last I spoke to him, he was away seeing his mother. I glanced up at him as he sat beside me on the sheets. “Yeah
FREYAWe arrived at Madame Claire's pack three hours later. I breathed a sigh of relief as the car pulled to a stop. We were surrounded by lush greenery on all sides. Leo’s pack was huge and rich, but Madame Claire's pack was beautiful, a stunning forest like community surrounded on all sides by tall woods. She met us at the door, smiling up at me happily. “Ah, there you are, Freya. I was worried Aswar got lost for a second.” She leaned in to kiss my cheeks, then shook Lizzy and Mia’s hands when I introduced them. “Thank you, Madame Claire for this chance, I won't disappoint you.” I said, gazing down at her steadily. She waved us into the house. “I should be thanking you, Freya. But let's not discuss work today. I have a small welcome party organized for you. Come in.” Lizzy walked up beside me as Madame Claire hurried ahead. “I have a feeling we'll like it here. What do you think?” She asked. I had the same feeling. Being able to escape here without Leo’s knowledge was a good
FREYA I didn't expect it to hurt quite so much. Leo had just gone ahead to give her my ring? I didn't even wait for her to finish speaking before I replied. “No, not at all.”I tried to close the door but she placed her leg in the gap. She turned the ring towards my face, as though I hadn't seen the darned thing already. “Don't you think it's just the prettiest thing? It's my gift from Alpha Leo.” She said in a sing sing voice. “Caroline? What really are you doing here? I can see the ring. I know you wanted to rub it in my face. Was there anything else?” She seemed uncertain for a moment, as if she hadn't expected me to say it quite so bluntly. I laughed at her expression. “What? He gave you my ring. I'm rather worried about you. Don't you find it strange that he didn't even make the effort to make you feel even a bit special?’ Caroline huffed. “Leo is busy. Of course he doesn't have the time to go tramping off buying a ring. You'd know that if you were any good as a wife. Than
FREYAYet, for the first time ever, I could have thanked her for showing up at exactly the best moment. She stopped beside us, fixing her attention on Leo as though the rest of the didn't exist. “Alpha Leo? Did you forgot to invite me to your coronation?” Leo pulled his arms from around my waist. “This is only the first step, and only for the council. You will be a honoured guest for every other event after this.” Of course she would. She would be his Luna. I pulled away from him. “I'm tired, Beta Tarta. I'll take my leave earlier.” I could see from the look on his face that Leo wasn't pleased by my words. But Beta Tarta was already nodding. “Of course. You should rest. The rest of the coronation will be long and tiring.” I turned to walk away, but Caroline's words stopped me. “Excuse me, Luna. Before you leave, could you take a photo of us? I should like to remember this moment forever.”The smile on her face was wide and innocent, but her eyes held a message. She held out her
FREYA Leo leveled me with a cold look after his absurd request. I glared at him, but he didn't budge as the car began to move. Pieces of the divorce agreement fluttered to the ground around us, mocking the effort I’d exerted. I lifted my eyes to meet his, angry beyond words. “I have no wish to be your pretend wife for one more second.” I refused squarely. I had no intention to be a pretend wife for years while he placed Caroline first. I wasn't even going to dignify ripping the divorce agreement to shreds. It was only a piece of paper that could be easily replaced. Leo’s handsome bearing became tight. He gazed down at me, a crooked ‘gotcha’ grin gracing his lips. “Who said anything about being a pretend wife?” After being cast aside so many times, did Leo really think I would believe such tricks? No matter what I did, he never saw me as anything more than an intruder. Why would he suddenly change his mind now? If I wanted to dwell on Leo's actions, surely I would lose my mind?
