Prologue

Atasha's POV

I am inside the conference room with other doctors discussing the most severe type of traumatic brain injury.

"Diffuse axonal injuries are one of the most severe types of traumatic brain injury. They occur when the brain is shaken or twisted inside the skull. As the brain twists, the cerebral tissue slides back and forth until the long connecting fibers in the brain (called axons) tear. The axonal shearing disrupts messages that neurons send, resulting in loss of function." explained Dr. Clark.

"Shot of tequila sounds nice don't you think?" Grace whispered on my side so I looked at her and gave her a death glare.

"Focus," I reminded her since we are in the middle of a serious meeting. Grace let out a soft chuckle instead of taking me seriously.

"I'll call the girls later," she added so I rolled my eyes and focused my eyes in front.

After sharing different insights about the situation the meeting ended and Grace being a slave of alcohol persuaded me to have a drink with her.

I let out a deep breath and then faced Grace.

"Okay fine after my shift," I told her which made her smile widely.

"I envy you for having so much time in your hands," I commented then proceeded on checking my other patient.

"Then you should stop acting like you are married to neurosurgery," she joked which made me laugh.

"Well I am sorry for being too ambitious Grace," I responded then wrote the vitals of my patient.

When I am done checking the condition of my patients I encoded everything on my computer and Grace being Grace followed me even at my office.

"Done?" she asked with excitement in her voice so I nod my head then stood up from the swivel chair and remove my white coat.

"Drop me at our house I have to tell Dad about my plans," I informed her. Grace rolled her eyes at me then after that she nod her head.

"Fine Ms. Perfect daughter," she commented and after that, we walked towards the parking lot. When we reached her car we stepped inside and Grace started driving.

Grace is also a neurosurgeon but unlike me, she isn't taking neurosurgery seriously since according to her it is not her dream but her parent's dream for her.

Grace is an outgoing person the total opposite of me because according to her all my movements are calculated well she is right because I hate being unplanned.

With Grace, there is no dull moment and she is one of the reasons why I survived medical school.

After an hour of driving, we stopped at our house. I invited Grace inside and she willingly obliged.

We walked towards our house and upon opening the door I saw my father sitting in the living room watching his favorite show.

"Hi Dad," I greeted. My father's head turned on me then later on he looked at Grace.

"Looked who we have here," he uttered so Grace happily walked towards my father.

"Good evening Pastor Quinn," Grace greeted which made my father smile.

"It seems like you have a plan?" my father concluded so Grace and I nod our heads.

"I'll be home late Dad, don't wait for me," I told him. My father agreed and after that, I decided to change my clothes.

I chose to wear a tight leather skirt paired with a halter top. I decided to bring a jacket since Dad hates it when my clothes are way too revealing. He is a pastor so it is natural for him to be conservative.

After numerous reminders my father allowed us to go. Grace drove way too fast and God knows how many times I reminded her to slow down but she never listened.

I let out a deep breath when we arrived at Magnifica.

"Shit you almost get us killed," I told her but Grace just laughed at me.

"Well you survived, congratulations Atasha," she sarcastically responded so all I can do is roll my eyes at her.

"Let's go, Olivia and Ruby are waiting," she uttered then held my wrists and pulled me inside the bar.

We are welcomed by loud music and people having the best day of their lives.

"Grace! Atasha!" Olivia called our names and even raised her hand so we can see them.

Grace and I walked towards their table and we hugged as if we haven't seen each other for a long time.

"I'm glad our doctors still have time to party," Olivia uttered which made us laugh.

"I'm glad you still have time to see us Ms. Celebrity," I joked which made the two of them laugh.

Olivia, Ruby, Grace, and I are friends since high school and I am glad that up until now nothing has changed.

"Let's get drunk bitches!" Ruby shouted then raised the shot glass so I have no choice but to drink and get myself wasted.

The reason why I hate alcohol is because of this,

"That man will be mine tonight," I uttered then pointed at the man sitting on the bar stool at the bar counter.

Whenever I am drunk I lost my self-control and I can no longer recognize my action.

"Go for it Atasha," Grace pushed me so I bravely nod my head and walked towards the man while my friends are cheering me.

Before I could even greet the guy I trip and splashed my drink on his shirt.

"Shit," I heard him curse so I immediately fixed my posture to face him.

"Sorry," I shyly uttered. His dark eyes look at me intently and if looks can kill I would probably be dead right now.

The man stood up angrily and then walked out but being hard-headed and uncontrolled I followed him.

I even heard Grace cheering for me but I ignored her since all I can think of is to get the man's attention.

When we reached the parking lot of the bar he turned around and faced me.

"What do you want?" he asked.

"I'm here to apologize," I responded.

The man looked at me intently once again then slowly took a step closer so I immediately stepped back until I felt my back leaning against the car door.

The man lowered his head to see my face clearly and for the first time in my life, I felt conscious about how I looked.

"Atasha Quinn," he spoke my name, and hearing my full name came out of his mouth made my whole body shiver.

"D-Do you know me?" I nervously asked.

"More than anyone Atasha," he responded then his lips rose for a smirk.

"W-Who are you?" I asked while my body quivered.

"Later on you will find out," he uttered then took a step back before leaving me in the dark parking lot.

My knees weakened and when my knees can no longer support my weight I fell to the ground with tears cascading down my face.

"W-Who are you?" I asked once again.

The man didn't even threaten me with a sharp knife but his presence screams danger. He looks like he could kill someone in just a snap.

Afraid that he might come back I gathered all my strength and runaway then grabbed a taxi to bring me home.

Conrad's POV

I watched as Atasha runaway. I saw fear in her eyes and I can still feel how her body quivered.

When she disappeared from my sight I walked towards the car and then followed the taxi that she ride on.

I followed her and stopped a few meters from her house so she won't notice my presence.

As she walks towards their house she is looking around to see if someone is following her.

When Atasha is inside their house I grabbed my phone and then dialed my father's number.

"I am at Quinn's Dad," I informed him.

"Have you seen Thomas Quinn?" he asked.

"No but I saw his daughter," I responded.

"Her daughter's freedom has met its end, claim what's yours, Conrad," he uttered and after that, he dropped the call.

According to my father, Thomas Quinn became the slave of love and begged for his way out of the organization and my father agreed with one condition, that her only daughter Atasha Quinn will marry me once she reached the legal age to secure the organization's future.

Quinn is the owner of the biggest gun industry in Europe that is the reason why my father wouldn't allow them to escape the organization. Quinn is the organization's biggest asset so we need to build an unbreakable relationship with them.

I saw Thomas Quinn get out of the house along with his daughter. They are roaming the whole area and even though Thomas is already old a trace of a Mafia is still visible in his movements.

I get off from my car when they pulled their car out of their parking lot. I stand in the middle of the road to stop them.

"One...two...three..." I counted and just like what I am expecting their car stopped. A few inches and I almost got hit.

I smiled when the headlight almost blinded my vision but I didn't bother to step back. A few minutes later Thomas get off from his car and faced me.

"Nice to meet you, Sir," I greeted then extended my hand but he didn't bother to take it.

"Did Anthony send you here?" he asked talking about my father so I nod my head and took a peek from his car trying to look for Atasha.

"I am here to pick up my fiance," I told him, and upon saying that we pulled the gun behind our backs at the same time.

"You can't take my daughter, Sawyer," he firmly uttered.

"I'm sorry Sir I am just following orders," I told him then tightened the grip on my gun.

Thomas and I looked at each other intently ready to pull the trigger at any second.

"D-Dad," I heard Atasha's voice so I took a quick look in her direction and then brought my attention back to Thomas.

"Get inside the car Atasha!" Thomas demanded but in my peripheral vision, I saw Atasha standing outside their car while looking at us.

"D-Dad what's happening?" she asked with fear laced in her voice.

"I am here to claim what's mine Atasha," I responded instead of Thomas and in just a snap I kick Thomas's knee which caused him to kneel on the ground, and without wasting any second I pointed the gun at his forehead.

"I hate wasting time," I uttered then looked at Atasha.

"Come with me and I will spare your father's life," I told her and slowly pulled the trigger but not enough to release a bullet.

"D-don't hurt my father," she beg and kneeled on the cold ground as well but I didn't even feel any pity.

I am used to taking lives and begging doesn't work for me anymore. I grew up in the darkness where weakness shouldn't be seen if you want to stay alive.

Unnecessary emotions like pity shouldn't be felt.

"Decide!" I shouted which made her jump. With shaking knees Atasha stood up and then slowly walked behind me.

"Good girl," I complimented then shoot Thomas's shoulder when he was about to pick up his gun.

"Dad!" Atasha shouted with her voice full of pain and anger.

"I'm sorry Atasha," Thomas uttered while I am dragging her daughter towards my car.
