Landon Kingston

"what has he done this time? I ask, as I stepped into the big mansion.

"How did you know ma'am? The house help trembled.

" I feel it"

" I didn't mean to, I couldn't stop him " 

" I know " I replied, she trembled as she followed me.

It wasn't a surprise that, once again, Landon had turned the quarter to a mess, different toys sprawled on the floor, food and drinks spilled all over, and he was on one side clearly unaffected.

"What's this? Landon fucking King? 

He turned and flinched.

" I missed you so much, you weren't here" he said, his brown eyes sparkling, innocently. 

"Is that why you made a mess? Just look around" 

"Don't yell at me" he stood up and stared at me, a sulky expression on his face.

"Of course"  I rolled my eyes.

"Can I hug you?  He asked

"Yeah " I replied, I can't stay mad at him, he knows.

In a second, he's all over me, holding my waist, my own hands on his shoulder.

"I missed you"

"I missed you too" I replied.

I missed the side of him I used to know.

The side of him before the accident that changed both our lives.

Before this, he was and is still the wealthiest man in LA, everyone knew of Landon Kingston.

He had lot's of enemies, and they almost succeeded in taking, his life.

I stroked my hands over his back, reaching up to touch his hair.

I would not let anyone take away what he spent years to build.

I was his protector, his pillar.

I could shield him from his own family members, a bunch of them had been waiting for his downfall, waiting to take over everything.

They would have to go through me first, 

I was the one in charge of every company, of all his bank account and properties.

"I'm calling Doctor Rourke" I said as we settled down in the privacy of his room which had been re decorated to meet his taste.

The room was littered with toys, teddy bears, balloon, it was the ideal room for a kid.

And it was what Landon needed, he talked like a kid, reasoned like one, and acted like one.

"You can't call Doctor Rourke" he pouted, whenever he did, he looked so cute, I could give in to his demands, not this time tho.

" Don't call him please" 

"Why?

" That man is a prick, I hate him"

" Language, Kingston "

" I don't want to see him"

" Do you not want to get better?

"You will help me get better, I do not need him"

"He's a professional, he knows what he's doing " 

" If you say so " his eyes darted from me to a green dinosaur.

I called the doctor, and waited patiently, watching Landon as he played with the dinosaur, swirling it in the air.

"Ren do you like this guy? He raised up this dinosaur.

" I like him, and the guy holding him" I replied, enjoying the amused smile on his lips.

"He really likes you, and he's going to tell you his story" he said and I nod, urging him to go on.

"He's surrounded by bad guys, they want to take him out, so they can have his food..."

" Ma'am " the maid came in.

" You have guests"

" I'll be right back Lan" I said, and Landon nods, his eyes on the dinosaur.

The two people waiting for me downstairs were unwanted.

I clenched my fist as I saw them

What did they want this time?

Landon's brother and his cunning wife.

"Why are you here? I asked

" You keep us waiting and have the guts to ask that "

I was not ready to battle words with Nina, not this time.

" Go straight to the point" I replied

" You already know what we're here for, we need full custody of Landon Kingston, we need you out of his life for good " Gareth's eyes burned with rage.

" I can't grant your request, I'm sorry " I scoffed

" Insolent bitch "

" I would appreciate you take your husband and get out of my house " I managed to keep my tone cool.

" You are enjoying this, aren't you? You've got him trapped and you're bent on exploiting everything he has" 

" I am, and I'm going to milk him dry"

Her eyes widened.

I was definitely getting on her nerves. 

" You have to step down or I'll...." 

" Or else what? I stopped him from going further, watching his frown deepen.

Gareth could not intimidate me.

Sounds of approaching footstep ended the squabble.

To my delight, it was the Doctor. 

"I've been waiting for you, come in"

I led him to the living room, both Gareth and Nina following.

"How's he doing? I asked as he settled down.

"better, I've been monitoring him closely"

" You have to do all it takes to bring my brother back" Gareth butted in

" He's everything, please Doctor try your possible best"

He was putting on an act, there was no way he wanted Landon to recover.

He wanted him to get worse.

" I can't believe this happened" he continued

" Please Doctor, do anything you can to help him" 

" He doesn't sleep properly, always thinking about his brother, he loves him so much" Nina added

This display was uncalled for, my head was already aching from watching them.

They should be in the theater, not in my house.

"I'm doing my best, he'll get better" the Doctor lokked from the duo, to me

"Thank you Doctor"

"You're welcome Mrs Kingston, I'll be here for a session with him tomorrow" he stood up 

"Thank you very much"

" I'll see you all out" my eyes flickered to Gareth and his wife.

The anger on their faces, unmistakable.

"Let's go honey" Nina pulled Gareth, and as they followed the doctor out.

I sighed.

There was no one to trust.
