LOGINChapter 2
Not him~ EVELYN I lower my gaze to the floor. "Your Royal Highness." I bow slightly, feeling my back tighten. This isn't how I planned my morning. And if I had known he would be in CrownFord, I would have never enrolled here. I could learn painting anywhere in the world, but not an inch close to him. "Lady Evelyn of Ashbourne. Fancy meeting you here; I didn't know you enrolled in CrownFord." He says. "I was enrolled yesterday." "I worry people might think that, just like before, you’ve chased after me across the world." He says, a smile playing on his lips. "If you were the last man on earth, I'll happily remain a spinster, Your Grace." I bow once again and step out of the elevator as quickly as I had entered. I take a seat on the couch in the lounge, and I feel my eyes swell. After so many years, he was still hellbent on making me cry. Why would I travel across the world to chase a man I know how unworthy I am to him? Pain and rage reignite at the pit of my stomach, making me sick when the realisation that it was them. Last night at the penthouse, those noises and the reason I couldn't sleep were because of him and that blonde of his. My phone rings, and I pick it up. "Hello." "Hey...are you okay?" Vee's voice comes through, and I smile. "I'm fine. I just met someone I never thought I'd see again." I mumble. "Don't tell me you met the Crown Prince?" Vee asks with a sigh. "How do you know that?" "Oh, my God! You did? That was what I wanted to tell you before the network disconnected the telephone wire and I couldn't text. I wanted to tell you that I just got information from a very reliable source, and they said he attends CrownFord. How did we miss that?" Exactly. How did I miss that? It isn't Vee's fault. I was desperate, searching for any reliable school away from Albion without digging into their school fan base. And now... there's no going back. "Did he say anything about...you know, the past? Did he bring back old wounds to hurt you?" She asks. Of course, everyone knows how heartless the first son and Crown Prince of Albion can be. "No, he didn't. We didn't converse for long." I mumble. "Good. Keep it that way. You see him coming left....go right. You see him coming left...go right. Never let your paths align." ~•~ Making sure I follow through on Vee's advice, I make sure to check every hallway before passing through. When I heard from a classmate that the famous Hockey star is a Senior and will not be gracing us with his presence for the hockey pass, imagine how grateful I was. I almost hugged the girl out of excitement, and I thankfully continued my day without looking over my shoulders. "Good day, Ms Seth." I greet the residence hall manager with a smile on my face. "Oh, Evelyn. Good day. How are you feeling? I hope you enjoyed a good night's rest in your suite?" She asks. If only she could imagine what I went through last night, then she would realise that love isn't what I'd use to describe that room. "Actually, I'm here about that. Is it possible to get a new room? One that isn't in the residence hall? Maybe in a different area altogether?" I question. Ms Seth regards me with a faint smile before shaking her head. "No, it isn't possible, Ms Evelyn. The residence hall you were given is close to your faculty and classroom. And besides, every other hall has been occupied." She says. Oh no. God! This isn't happening to me, is it? There is no way I can spend another night in that room, hearing all those lewd things and knowing who is responsible for them. "What if I go stay in a hotel or something?" I asks. "Impossible! What will I say to your parents if something bad happens to you? I can not allow that, Ms Evelyn. Is there a reason you don't like your suite?" She asks. I should tell her the truth. That I wasn't able to sleep last night because their famous Hockey star upstairs was busy, and who knows if he'll do it again tonight....just to spite me, knowing I can hear. "I....the suite is fine. I just felt uncomfortable there." I say. Ms Seth sighs and pats my shoulder in a mother kind of way. "I understand, you're far away from home for your first time. Everything must look and feel different. But I assure you, Evelyn, that... That residence hall is the best of them all. That's where our Elites stay." I step out of her office with a weary smile and tears ready to drop if I were to open my mouth. Class for noon were cancelled and rescheduled to tomorrow morning. I head for my room, making sure to look around so I won't have to run into him. Sharing an elevator with him will be a problem, but I'll try as much as possible to avoid it as well. I rush to the elevator, press the button and look behind me, praying it opens quickly, and I go up alone. The elevator door slides open; Alexander stands tall inside, his hands in his pockets as he gives me that calm, bored look that screams, 'everyone is beneath me.' I stand for a few seconds, and he cocked a brow, daring me to get in. A scowl replaced the look on my face, and I walked in, hands by my side and eyes staring straight, ignoring the man beside me. The elevator dings as it begins to move. "Hmm....if it isn't my little-dittle daisy. Long time no see, daisy. It's been....five long years." TBCChapter 6 Nevermind~EVELYNI close my eyes because, unfortunately, I was still standing straight, and the ground had yet to open and take me in."Are you okay?" She asks, and I nod."I...my cat died yesterday, and my mother called to tell me about it. I was so sad yesterday. I didn't see Kieran, though. Would you two be coming for the class?" I question, and Rose shrugs.Lord, forgive me, cause I have sinned. I didn't have a cat, never....."I... it would be in my best interest to take the class, but I'm very packed at the moment, and my mother thinks I should take singing class." She says with a sad smile.I didn't know she could draw and paint until this morning when I saw her with the nerd boy, Kieran. They can paint, and I thought they'd be joining the art club."Oh. That's... sad. I mean— you clearly know your way with a brush, but it's okay." We part ways as I head for Mr Shaw's office. After hours of thinking ab
Chapter 5 Everything ~EVELYNPain can kill. And I'm not talking about physical pain but emotional pain.I almost died years ago, and when I survived that heart-wrenching moment, I promised myself never to get involved with anything that would put me in that state again. That's why when my father wanted to buy me a beautiful British cat, I declined it.What if it died? Or one day abandon me for someone else?Pets were cute and loving, but they could go and never come back, or they might get hit by a car. I thought of every possible scenario that would make me cry and decided against it."Eat slowly and drink water," Vee says, putting more rice on my plate."Will you tell me why you're in my small apartment? Sulking?""I just felt...disturbed and sad today. Nothing happened; I just felt sad, and I decided to come see you." I say—lie to her face and watch her smile."Eat more; I'll get you more stew. You can eat to your he
Chapter 4 All or nothing~ALEXANDER The moment I taste lilies and daisies, I know it is not Lydia or whoever was sent into this room to play Hockey's fantasy. A stupid game Brian brought up, and we play it every time we win a game.I pull back so fast that my shoulder hits the door behind me.Evelyn stands in front of me, wide-eyed and breathing hard, her lips swollen from my kiss. For a second, I forget how to breathe.Out of every woman in New York, out of every female student in CrownFord, it had to be her.For five years, I have imagined what kissing Evelyn Ashbourne again would feel like.It was never supposed to happen in a dark room at a frat party. While playing a stupid game of push and pull.I should open the door.I should send her downstairs, and I should definitely stop looking at her mouth, but I can't."Is there a problem?" The door opens, and bright light floods the room.Brian steps in, and Steve gasps, and
Chapter 3 Anything ~EVELYN Life is unpredictable. We learn to change with things and things with us, but sometimes, habits don't die. Our body seems to recognise a call before our mind can catch up to it."Yes, it's been five years, Your Grace." I keep my eyes on the wall of the elevator, watching the number rise."Your father never said anything about you transferring to CrownFord when we spoke about political issues on Monday." He continues."My life is not a political issue, Your Grace. That is mainly the reason my father never spoke of it." My father hadn't known about my plans to CrownFord on Monday. I told them everything on Saturday and insisted they let me go; they really didn't have a choice on the matter. And why would he be expecting my father to tell him about my private life?Yes, he's the Crown Prince of the Kingdom, definitely not my life."It's a good thing. Do you still paint, little-dittle dai—""I be

Chapter 1 Distractions~EVELYNI take a look around the suite CrownFord gave meApparently, my parents’ influence was enough to secure me a spot in this part of the residence hall. This is my first time in New York, and it excites me. I have my to-do list I had written in Albion, and I'm surely going to make sure I tick every one of them, and the first being: "Active at the Hockey frat party, according to Vivian, it is the hottest party in CrownFord University."Do you like the Decorations and the colour combinations?" Ms Seth asks, and I nod.The suite was decorated with my favourite colours... burgundy and off-white."And feel free to let us know if you want a change in your room. This is the penthouse suite B; A is occupied by our famous Hockey star." Ms Seth says, and I nod.CrownFord University, according to my research, is the best for my artistic fantasy. When Ms Seth leaves, I settle down and get everything I'll ne
