LOGINChapter 3
Anything ~ EVELYN Life is unpredictable. We learn to change with things and things with us, but sometimes, habits don't die. Our body seems to recognise a call before our mind can catch up to it. "Yes, it's been five years, Your Grace." I keep my eyes on the wall of the elevator, watching the number rise. "Your father never said anything about you transferring to CrownFord when we spoke about political issues on Monday." He continues. "My life is not a political issue, Your Grace. That is mainly the reason my father never spoke of it." My father hadn't known about my plans to CrownFord on Monday. I told them everything on Saturday and insisted they let me go; they really didn't have a choice on the matter. And why would he be expecting my father to tell him about my private life? Yes, he's the Crown Prince of the Kingdom, definitely not my life. "It's a good thing. Do you still paint, little-dittle dai—" "I believe we can drop the nickname, your grace. I'm not a child, this isn't Albion, and I'm definitely not your little princess anymore." I glare at him as I step out of the elevator onto my floor. He can go to hell! ~•~ Just like I predicted yesterday, I couldn't sleep last night as well because plastic blonde came back and they did it for the entire night. I take a sip of my coffee as I wait for Vee to finish her critical thinking. "I still don't understand, Eve. Why would he engage in small talk? Wait- I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that he's living above your suite. And he's been having loud sex with a plastic curvy blonde for days now?' Vee came to see me, even after telling me how bad it would be if she were to get caught and sent back to Albion; she came to see me, and I have never been happy. "What do you think I should do?" "Move out." "I tried, but the residence manager said all the other rooms have been occupied, and I'm pretty sure if I were to move out without letting her know, she'll tell my parents about and I'll be on my way to Albion next thing tomorrow," I say. "This isn't good. This isn't good! Oh my God!" Vee jumps up, and I turn to look. Alexander, plastic blondie and his friends, Kai, Brian and Steve, are eating and talking on the other side of the cafeteria. It's been so long since I saw Kai and the rest. Seeing them together makes me recall the past. What we used to do together, it... "Evelyn?" I look up to see Kai coming to our seat, his eyes wide. "Wow, it's you. Oh my God, little princess." Kai pulls me into a hug, and I smile. Kai has always been the calm one and the one I felt safe with, like a big brother. "You're in CrownFord. How come nobody told me this? When did you arrive?" He asks, glances at Vee and looks away quickly. "I didn't tell anyone. How about you? How are you doing?" I ask, and we talk about everything, but definitely not about what happened five years ago. •• "How do I look?" I blow a kiss to Vee through the mirror, and she catches it and swallows it. "You kinky witch!" I squeal, and we both laugh. The Frat party we're going to is located far away from school, so I'm in Vee's small apartment as we get ready for the party. "Why didn't you get a bigger apartment, Vee?" "Because doing so would mean that I'll have to use my card and my parents will know where to find me. Besides, I like it here." She shrugs and groans. "Where the fuck did I throw that bra into?" A few minutes later, and we're standing at the front door of the Mayor's townhouse. Music booms from inside, and the bouncers check my ID before letting me in. You must be a student of CrownFord to get in. I giggle as Vee passes me a glass of wine. "Damn! I didn't know how big these kinds of parties are." "This is small compared to the ones I used to sneak out to in Florida," Vee says, and I turn to stare at her, suspicion clawing its way in. "Vivian Farrow, you haven't told me what you did in Florida that made you run to New York and hide from your parents." "I promise to tell you when I have everything figured out, Eve. I promise." I let her go as we walk deeper into the house. People dance, and some girls even go as far as to strip their tops off, only clad in a flimsy bra to dance and shake their butt. "Stop looking at them like that." Vee laughs, dancing as she hands me her glass. "Like how?" "Like you're about to start lecturing them on how to wear a top and how to dress decently. Not everyone wants to be a good girl, Eve. So, let's just dance, have fun and go home." She says, and I nod, shaking my body however I know how to. "I'll be back." She winks at me and disappears up the stairs. I wait for her, and when she doesn't come back, I decide to go look for her. I weave past dancing couples, and a guy shoving his tongue down a girl's throat as they begin to get all down on the dance floor. 'Someone should get them a room, please.' I almost say, and decide against it. I climb up the last stairs, and the music this side is calm and certainly not the same downstairs. I cough, sniffing as the smell of tobacco drifts in the air. "Vee?" I call out, stepping past the boys by the windows and doors, as they discuss in hush tone. "Vee?" I call again, stepping into an open door. The room is partly dark, and just as I step inside, the door shuts. I jump, looking behind me, but I can't see anyone; fear skitters up my skin as I try to squint my eyes to see who it is. "Is this the bitch for tonight?!" A voice inside the room rings out. Laughter follows outside and then an answer. "Yes. Her name is Lydia. She says she likes it rough and hard, and she said she wouldn't even make a sound!" What? What was happening? "Hmm...I prefer my girls loud, Lydia. But first, let me have a taste of what I'll be eating tonight." The voice, somewhat familiar, says and bounces on me. Before I could scream, strong arms wrap around me, and thick lips press on mine. I gasp in shock, and he stops. He steps back... and I try to explain, but he steps closer once again and claims my lips, stronger this time, fighting for dominance as he took whatever he wanted. These lips... feel familiar, and I know who it belongs to. I should push him away. Tell him it's a mistake and I'm not Lydia or whoever that is, but I don't. Instead, I shut up and let him claim me all over again. TBCChapter 6 Nevermind~EVELYNI close my eyes because, unfortunately, I was still standing straight, and the ground had yet to open and take me in."Are you okay?" She asks, and I nod."I...my cat died yesterday, and my mother called to tell me about it. I was so sad yesterday. I didn't see Kieran, though. Would you two be coming for the class?" I question, and Rose shrugs.Lord, forgive me, cause I have sinned. I didn't have a cat, never....."I... it would be in my best interest to take the class, but I'm very packed at the moment, and my mother thinks I should take singing class." She says with a sad smile.I didn't know she could draw and paint until this morning when I saw her with the nerd boy, Kieran. They can paint, and I thought they'd be joining the art club."Oh. That's... sad. I mean— you clearly know your way with a brush, but it's okay." We part ways as I head for Mr Shaw's office. After hours of thinking ab
Chapter 5 Everything ~EVELYNPain can kill. And I'm not talking about physical pain but emotional pain.I almost died years ago, and when I survived that heart-wrenching moment, I promised myself never to get involved with anything that would put me in that state again. That's why when my father wanted to buy me a beautiful British cat, I declined it.What if it died? Or one day abandon me for someone else?Pets were cute and loving, but they could go and never come back, or they might get hit by a car. I thought of every possible scenario that would make me cry and decided against it."Eat slowly and drink water," Vee says, putting more rice on my plate."Will you tell me why you're in my small apartment? Sulking?""I just felt...disturbed and sad today. Nothing happened; I just felt sad, and I decided to come see you." I say—lie to her face and watch her smile."Eat more; I'll get you more stew. You can eat to your he
Chapter 4 All or nothing~ALEXANDER The moment I taste lilies and daisies, I know it is not Lydia or whoever was sent into this room to play Hockey's fantasy. A stupid game Brian brought up, and we play it every time we win a game.I pull back so fast that my shoulder hits the door behind me.Evelyn stands in front of me, wide-eyed and breathing hard, her lips swollen from my kiss. For a second, I forget how to breathe.Out of every woman in New York, out of every female student in CrownFord, it had to be her.For five years, I have imagined what kissing Evelyn Ashbourne again would feel like.It was never supposed to happen in a dark room at a frat party. While playing a stupid game of push and pull.I should open the door.I should send her downstairs, and I should definitely stop looking at her mouth, but I can't."Is there a problem?" The door opens, and bright light floods the room.Brian steps in, and Steve gasps, and

Chapter 2 Not him~EVELYN I lower my gaze to the floor."Your Royal Highness." I bow slightly, feeling my back tighten. This isn't how I planned my morning. And if I had known he would be in CrownFord, I would have never enrolled here.I could learn painting anywhere in the world, but not an inch close to him."Lady Evelyn of Ashbourne. Fancy meeting you here; I didn't know you enrolled in CrownFord." He says."I was enrolled yesterday." "I worry people might think that, just like before, you’ve chased after me across the world." He says, a smile playing on his lips."If you were the last man on earth, I'll happily remain a spinster, Your Grace." I bow once again and step out of the elevator as quickly as I had entered.I take a seat on the couch in the lounge, and I feel my eyes swell. After so many years, he was still hellbent on making me cry.Why would I travel across the world to chase a man I know how unworthy I am t
Chapter 1 Distractions~EVELYNI take a look around the suite CrownFord gave meApparently, my parents’ influence was enough to secure me a spot in this part of the residence hall. This is my first time in New York, and it excites me. I have my to-do list I had written in Albion, and I'm surely going to make sure I tick every one of them, and the first being: "Active at the Hockey frat party, according to Vivian, it is the hottest party in CrownFord University."Do you like the Decorations and the colour combinations?" Ms Seth asks, and I nod.The suite was decorated with my favourite colours... burgundy and off-white."And feel free to let us know if you want a change in your room. This is the penthouse suite B; A is occupied by our famous Hockey star." Ms Seth says, and I nod.CrownFord University, according to my research, is the best for my artistic fantasy. When Ms Seth leaves, I settle down and get everything I'll ne
