Madeline has been killed. Not by an enemy or a rival pack; not even by the rebellious rogues that roam the kingdoms. No. Madeline has been killed by someone close to her heart. Her mate, Damien— lycan King of the empire of Ker. To hide his affair with her best friend and daughter of a very troublesome rogue pack, Damien rejects her and then kills her. However, fate is not blind. The moon goddess hears her plea and she is reborn. She wakes up 3 months before the incident and now has to alter the very course of time. In this second chance, she will use any means necessary to get her revenge and make those two pay. Even if it means siding with the dangerous alpha ruler of the growing rebellion, Axel Black. Even if it means losing herself to his serpentine tongue. She would take everything her mate had; including his precious throne— and nothing would stop her. But when sparks begin to fly between the ruined queen and this strange rogue she has made a volatile deal with, can Madeline hold on to the revenge cogs she has begun to spin? Especially when this rogue only has one goal in mind— to destroy her mate and all the royals in Ker— not excluding her, of course.

Today was supposed to be the coronation of the lycan King, Damien Chris, a man who I have loved for so long. A man who I thought loved me just as much as I did. But oh, was I wrong. I stand at the slightly opened door of our chambers in the imperial palace. I had just come back from visiting his mother who was a very amiable woman. Only to come back to this. Damien and Lily. I can't see her properly; my mate's huge bronze body covers her frail one. I can see her dainty legs though; hanging in the crooks of his elbows as he rams into her. “Uhhh, yes! Ugh! Your majesty!” Lily is crying in ecstasy. With each moan, my heart drops a little lower. I must be dreaming. There's no way this is real. I'm in so much denial and shock that I have to push the door open to confirm. The both of them immediately look towards me. They're both naked; lily has so many bite and claw marks over her body. One in particular catches my eyes though— the mating mark on her neck. It's deep, raw and very fresh. Every single bone in my body goes stiff. “D-damien? Lily?” My voice is very hoarse. My mate scrambles for some clothes. I notice that he's not exactly bothered; there's no guilt in his movements. When he looks at me, deep brown eyes piercing mine, there's no remorse in them. I shake my head and look at Lily who has just casually slipped on a robe. She looks irritated. My mate is the first to speak; voice low and deep. “You shouldn't have seen this, Madeline.” That's all he says. As though it is my fault that they were making love illicitly. I'm so stunned no words come out of my mouth. Before I can compose myself, Damien grabs Lily by the waist. The latter coos and giggles. My best friend… The woman I had shared my every joy and sorrow with. She was the daughter of a rogue leader but had ran from home. Being an omega in this palace, I really couldn't help her much. But because my mate was the king, she was instantly accepted on my behalf. Looking at them now; I can tell the reason he accepted her. He always wanted her. “See this?” Damien hisses, pointing the mark on Lily's neck. “This is a symbol of our mate bond. I planned to break the news to you in a more softened manner. But you just had to be stupid enough to come in here. Well, it's your mistake.” I shake my head at Damien's cruel words. My heart desperately wants all this to be a trick. But it's not; the ruffled sheets and faint smell of arousal in the air tell me all I need to know. I shatter inside. “You…you betrayed me,” I whisper, looking to the ground. “Yes. He did. We both did. Now he will reject you and we will both have our peace. I truly care for you, Maddy. But I love the king…I accept I made a mist—” Before she can spew more rubbish, I lunge at her with anger. “You witch! You horrible witch! You stole everything from me!” I don't get close enough to hit her— Damien catches my arm and in a second, he throws me to the ground with force. My world goes black for one second and it takes a while for me to come through. I start laughing maniacally— it's all my brain can afford to do now. “D-do you think the kingdom will accept their king to have a rogue as a Luna? You're delusional!” Damien's face twitches— I know I've hit a nerve. “And you think the kingdom will want a nameless, spineless omega as their queen? At least, Lily here is a beta's daughter. She has a strong bloodline. You, on the other hand…you are dust.” His words carve me up like a knife. Lily's laughter that follows makes me want to bury myself in the ground. Dust… As my brain struggles to process this information, I hear Damien saying something. “I, Damien Chris, Lycan King heir of Ker kingdom, reject you, Madeline Gus of Wooline pack.” Such simple words. Such hefty repercussions. The instant these words leave his mouth; my entire body goes into shock. It's like thousands of needles bury themselves into my spine, killing the nerves one by one and making my body heat up like the sun. I cry aloud and writhe on the ground. My love, my devotion, my bond. Everything shatters. As I wail in horrible pain, I hear my ex best friend say something to the king. “We cannot just let her go…if people find out about this, you'll be criticized and the throne might be taken away from you. Let us get rid of her now then hide our relationship till you are in power.” My heart drops immediately. What? My vision is still blurry but I can see my former mate nod. The fire of rejection is all consuming— almost like tasting death itself. But I have to quickly try to regain my senses before they can act on their plan. However, my body is far too weak to obey my commands. I want to run, I want to scream, I want to tear at everything and burn all they have down. But my soul and bones have been weakened by the rejection. I cannot move. My eyes clear up though, and I watch with horror as a man who I loved so dearly, draws his claws against me. “You shouldn't have found out, Madeline. You'd have lived if you had just stayed away.” I open my mouth to plead for some form of mercy; to beg for the one thing I have left. My life. But Damien and his mistress won't stop at wrecking me— my life too is at their mercy. With one swift blow, Damien's claws enter my stomach. Blood gurgles from my mouth and my vision immediately spots. “Rest now, Madeline. Return to the dust you came from.” Sounds and sights immediately disappear as the underworld welcomes me. Whatever had I done to deserve this? Weak. You were weak."Mo—mother? How can you say something like that? Something so cruel and—"The words spluttered out of my mouth hopelessly, but the more I spoke, the more Susan's frown deepened. The sound of the room door being shut harshly caused me to flinch and meet her eyes. Her eyes were dark and empty, like the thought of even looking at me was beneath her. This was the true extent of Susan's cruelty. "Do you know what it would look like if our guests saw you looking like that? The shame it would bring to the palace?" My spine stiffened, and I nodded, because I understood what she meant. The wolf pack always prided themselves on their mate bond, and the ability to form connections unlike other packs. Despite how much the other packs mocked us for this, it was the reason we were the rulers of Ker, and not a different clan. "But it's not my fault, mo—Lady Susan. The alpha is the one who raised his
"My lady, what should I do for you? I can try to hide the—""No." I cut her off. My fingers traced over the bruise on my cheek as it pulsed lightly in the mirror. The pain was a distant memory that felt like it had happened a long time ago, too long to really remember. But the bruise was shining in color. One look at it, and it wouldn't be hard to tell what had happened. It would be leave a sour air in the atmosphere, and everyone would know that my mate was abusive. I didn't know a lot of Luna's who walked into breakfast with bruises on their faces, and got away with it, but I wasn't feeling like someone ready to put up a brave face. "What do you mean, my lady? Surely you don't expect to go out like—like this?" A look of horror washed over my lady in waiting's face, and some of the courage I was feeling bled out of me, onto the floor. I hugged my arms around myself, "What ca
"My lady?" I didn't wait for Runa to say anything else, before I slammed the door shut in her face, and pressed my back against the door. My heart was pounding so hard against my ribcage, it was all I could hear for a while. "My lady, are you alright?" Her sympathy filled tone reached my ears from the other side, and I suddenly felt guilty for making her so worried about me. I turned back to the door and pressed my face to it, as I said. "I'm fine, really. Please go to bed Runa. Damien isn't here." "But—""That's a Luna's order. Sleep well." I countered immediately. I didn't move an inch from the door, until I heard her receding food steps as she left the door. Then with a heavy sigh, and my hand still clutching my chest, I pushed myself off the door. "So Damien is the one who did this to you." The sound of that dark and threatening voice caused me to almost jump out of my sk
We pulled apart at the same time, nearly bumping our heads against each other, before I remembered what had made us pull apart. The door. Someone was at the door. Axel was the first to stand up, probably about to disappear again, but something that felt achingly like fear wrapped around my throat. Before I could stop myself from doing something I would regret terribly, I reached out a hand towards him. He froze, and his eyes met mine with a confused look. No matter how much I wanted to—needed to tell myself that I didn't need him here, I still felt a little scared. What if it was Damien at the door? I wouldn't be able to stop him, and I didn't think there was anyone in this palace that would manage to stop him either. That was the only reason I was still clinging to Axel like someone who feared for her life. B
The hand on my chin turned painful and I pulled my face away from his hold. "I've said it's nothing to concern yourself about. What are you even doing here?" I strode away from him, and out of the moonlight view, so he couldn't see whatever he was seeing on my face. He followed closely behind me, and I set myself down on my guy bed, before turning away from him. If he couldn't see me, then he wouldn't know how his words had affected me. Why did he care who had bruised me? What was he even doing here? He didn't care for me, and he didn't need to pretend any longer, because he couldn't even use me to kill Damien. I had thrown that away, because my mate loved me—or at least I thought he did. I hugged myself tighter. Someone who loved me wouldn't do what he had done to me. "It concerns me if someone tried to hurt you, my lady." Axel was quicker with his reply this time.
Axel looked like he was going to try and catch me, but he didn't. I shot a glare at him, before walking toward the middle of my room, all but pretending like he wasn't even there. Maybe if I huffed hard enough, and pretended I couldn't see him, he would take the hint and go. The room was cold though. With every step I took, an involuntary shudder shook through me, and staying in just my bath robe was growing increasingly hard. Yet, what infuriated me the most was the way he just watched me in silence. Why wouldn't he just say what he had to say and leave? The longer I stood in the cold, the worse my mood became. I didn't want him to see me as I broke down. And I knew I would break down. Everything in this room reminded me of what had happened outside, where no one would be none the wiser. I hugged my arms around myself as a sniffle tore out of me. I would not cry. I couldn't
