Along the usually dark wintry lane shone hundreds of paper lanterns; illuminating with their flickering candles.

Men were wearing black velvet jackets with silver embroideries and long leather boots. Women were glowing under their white silk dresses, and pink lace-up ballerina flats and children were carrying a lantern of their own making, each in a different colour. It was the Lantern Festival.
