ELARA'S POV

I awoke with a gasp. "Beros" the words came out of my mouth in a whisper. I saw him again. I could feel him, his anguish, he was in pain.

I felt the warm tears roll down my cheeks before I could even register that I had been crying, before I could even register that it was morning. Beros. I needed to save him.

I had barely gotten my thoughts together when the doors to my room burst open and in walked an array of maids who appeared stunned at me sitting up in bed.

  • REJECTED BY THE ALPHA, CHOSEN BY THE MOON   When hope returned

ELARA'S POVI awoke with a gasp. "Beros" the words came out of my mouth in a whisper. I saw him again. I could feel him, his anguish, he was in pain. I felt the warm tears roll down my cheeks before I could even register that I had been crying, before I could even register that it was morning. Beros. I needed to save him.I had barely gotten my thoughts together when the doors to my room burst open and in walked an array of maids who appeared stunned at me sitting up in bed."Your highness", you're... you're awake" the head maid stuttered before bowing her head to me. I saw her gesture to one of the other maids who in turn hurried out of the room."We were sent here to prepare you" the head maid said again as she gave instructions to the other maids who carried them out efficiently. I paid them no heed as they worked through bathing me, clothing me and brushing my hair out.I couldn't help but wonder what kind of pain Beros was in that would keep him away from me. Nothing could keep

ELARA'S POVIt was a flurry of robes and the clinking of steel against steel as we all made our way to the third gate. Due to the preparations put in place, this was no surprise attack, we were ready for it. I was.As the soldiers hurried towards the third gate led by Alicent and Greyson. Lioren and I finally made use of our powers and got there in the blink of an eye to be greeted with a ghastly sight.Fae blood was splattered everywhere, bodies hanging from the mouth of grotesque shadowlike hounds as they wreaked havoc. The fae were no match for these shadowlike creatures, but the wolves were.In no time, the wolves shifted at Alicent's command and ran straight into the hounds, now it was a fair fight, animal versus animal. I didn't even need to help because the wolves were doing a good job at keeping the hounds at bay from invading the third gate, though a few wolves fell, a lot of them remained standing and fighting.I didn't have need to join the fae, but I did, and it took every

ELARA'S POVIn the next few weeks, the fae kingdom was surprisingly...peaceful. But I could feel something brewing beneath the surface of the universe, something gathering. And I felt sick to my stomach, as if deities could fall sick, I felt sick waiting, watching for something to happen, anything. And with the disappearance of Beros, I was far from finding myself, far from moving on with the plan, I was missing him. Where was he?My shoes clicked on the marbled floor of the palace as I walked in to find Lioren staring at me, as if waiting for my return."Did you?..." "No" I bit back, sharp and void of emotion. She didn't need to complete the question for me to know what she wanted to ask. She slumped further into her chair as all hope seemed lost."What do we do now?" I hadn't even noticed Alicent when I walked in, that was how absent minded I had become. I glanced at her and the worry swirling in her eyes. I didn't need her pity.I spun around as I made to head to my room, I had b

ELARA'S POV"So what is the size of the army?" one of the fae elders asked."They seem to be about fifty thousand strong," another replied."seventy thousand strong" Alicent cut in, causing them to look at her. We had delved into strategy immediately after seeing the damage done to the fae kingdom and the fae elders had been bickering all morning on what strategy that would be best."I still think we should deploy the soldiers to the north gate, I feel that is where the next attack might come from, your..." one of the elders said, an old fae dressed in black."And why do you think that, the west gate is where they would attack next, it is the most inconspicuous, any enemy would attack that first" a much younger male fae cut in."Then you know nothing, Atrius" the elder fae from earlier spoke up."He knows as much as you and I know, othanius" another fae cut in. They had been bickering all day and we had not even made solid plans because of their back and forth.Alicent had been quiet

ELARA'S POV"Is it just me? Or does the fae kingdom seem to be doing alright?" Alicent asked as she glanced around "I mean, it looks okay to me" she said gesturing her hands out to the fae passing by and stealing glances at us."I think so too" I told her "but it's too calm, too calm for a place that seemed to be under attack a few days ago" or was it all a ploy to get me to come see her, to apologize to me? I thought to myself."Oh, there she is" Alicent informed me. Lioren was standing a few feet from us, dressed in a glowing pale pink gown, looking nothing like the crying mess she was last night."Your highness, Luna" Solas greeted as we walked up to them, his eyes lingering on me just a tiny bit longer. I shouldn't have noticed, but I did. I nodded slightly and so did Alicent."Luna, Elariana, it is so nice to see you again this morning" Lioren beamed with smiles "though I would like to catch up and talk over tea, there is something you both must see, please come with me" she said

ELARA'S POV"Solas" I said aloud, as Lioren turned to face me. There he was, standing in royal clothes in front of the palace doors. He hadn't changed one bit. If anything, he looked regal, alluring, and now I could sense he was a fae of high standing.I felt the stone in my bag reacting to him and the way his eyes drifted to my bag told me the stone called to me too."Goddes" he said as he plastered a smile on his face, bowing slightly."You two know each other?' Lioren asked."Yes, I stumbled upon him in the woods, it was a long time ago" I said as Solas walked in front of us."Ohhhh, yes, in the forest, how could I forget?" she smacked her head softly as she smiled."You knew?" I was confused."Yes, I did, I sent him to check if the rumors of your return were true" "Ohhh," I said."He is my right hand man. my eyes and ears outside of the fae world" she beamed proudly."That says a lot, so why are you just reaching out, you knew I had been around for a while, why send a message onl
