The Pain Of Betrayal

The Pain Of Betrayal.

Aurora's POV.

I couldn't hold back my excitement as I thought about telling him. The news of carrying our child, our precious little Fin, was about to burst out of me.

With a hopeful grin, I reached for the icy doorknob in front of me. My heart pounded wildly, filled with happiness, while my stomach fluttered with joy.

I turned the doorknob, expecting it to be a delightful surprise. But then, who would have known that life wasn't always going to follow a simple plan.

"Nelson!?"

I gasped in exclamation, feeling a wave of fear surge through me.

My eyes widened with terror as my brown leather bag slipped from my grasp and crashed to the ground.

I stood there in disbelief, hoping against hope that it was all just a terrible hallucination.

"What is she doing here, Nelson!? You promised you'd end things with her!"

Hannah, who was supposed to be my closest friend, my half-sister, and my secret pal, spoke with anger etched across her face.

She had betrayed me in the worst way possible.

She was fucking having sex with my boyfriend, my fiancé, the person I loved deeply and was willing to do anything for.

Tears filled my eyes, rendering me speechless and motionless. I stood there, unable to utter a single word to them.

"I'm sorry, Hannah, but how could I end it when she kept pestering me?" Nelson retorted, a hint of frustration in his voice as he got out of bed.

His gaze suddenly turned into a glare, a first for him. He grabbed a towel from beside him and hastily wrapped it around his waist.

As he approached me with an intense stare, my fists clenched tightly in anger.

"Please, Nelson, tell me this isn't true! Tell me you're not cheating on me with my own best friend," I pleaded, blinking rapidly to hide the tears welling up in my eyes.

I fought hard to maintain my composure, refusing to be seen as weak or foolish.

"And what if it is true, Aurora!?" he burst out, devoid of any remorse in his eyes.

He was transforming into someone unrecognisable, and I couldn't comprehend how or why.

"What!?" I gasped, my sobs catching in my throat, my voice shaky at the unimaginable scene before me.

My eyes were swollen and filled with tears, making everything appear hazy. All I could see was the unmistakable glare of betrayal etched on his face.

"You heard him, Aurora!" Hannah chimed in, yanking off the bed sheets that concealed her nakedness.

She hastily covered herself with a robe, a clear indication that they had spent the night together and had been deceiving me behind my back for who knows how long.

My tummy churned with regrets as I felt a sharp edged sword pierce through my innocent heart.

"Why, Hannah? Out of all people, why did it have to be you?" I whimpered, my voice trembling as I tried to hold back the tears.

"And I should be asking you the same question, Aurora," she snarled, perching herself at the edge of the bed.

"You were the one who decided to take what was mine!"

"Mine!? What are you talking about, Hannah!? Nelson and I have been in a relationship all this time, and we even have a child together and …!"

I was about to say more, but Nelson, who stood in front of me, cut me off mid-sentence.

"You know, Aurora," he said, turning around and approaching Hannah, who sat on the edge of the bed.

He gently held her cheeks, just like he used to with me when we were together.

Without any hesitation, he leaned in and kissed her on the lips, causing me to stumble back in shock.

I was completely shattered, devastated beyond words. Yet, all I could do was stand there and witness this betrayal.

How foolish I felt inside, biting my lower lip in shame and disgrace.

He shifted his gaze towards me after kissing her, and said, "Hannah has always been the woman I've had my eye on. I didn't want to say anything at first, but then you came along with that thing.."

He trailed off, leaving me to momentarily regret why I had given in to him that night at the motel.

Why I had lost my virginity to an unworthy fool like him.

"That 'thing'?" I nodded, a bitter smile forming on my lips.

"This 'thing,' Nelson, is your child! Our child, and..." I began, but he interrupted me once again, his voice filled with rage.

"I have never, ever had sex with you! You always said you wanted to wait until marriage, so now you're trying to make me believe I have a child?"

He advanced toward me, his anger and disgust palpable. He looked at me as if I were something repulsive.

"Listen, Aurora, I'll say this once, and I suggest you listen carefully. Otherwise, things won't be pleasant for you!"

I paused for a moment, my mind struggling to process the unfolding scene. The ache in my heart gnawed at my very core.

And then, out of nowhere, he commanded.

"Get out of my house!"

"What? But I am..." I tried to protest.

"Didn't you hear him, Aurora? He told you to get the fuck out! Nobody wants you and that bastard here!"

Hannah stood up, her words filled with hatred, directed at both my unborn child and me.

That was the final straw. I could endure her insults, but not when they involved my child.

"How dare you call my own child a bastard!?" I attempted to approach her, ready to unleash my anger, but Nelson held me back.

With a face filled with anguish, I swiftly turned to him, realising that it was truly over.

"I trusted you! I trusted both of you!" I cried out, but Nelson pushed me away.

"Well, you shouldn't have!" he sneered.

And Without a moment's hesitation, he gripped my wrist and forcefully pulled me toward the door.

"Nelson, please don't do this! Please, just tell me it's all a joke, and I promise I'll forgive you!" I pleaded, desperately trying to keep myself grounded.

"No one, Aurora... no one needs your forgiveness! Especially not when you're carrying a child like this!"

He scowled, and before I could say another word, he violently shoved me out of his house.

I lost all control at that moment, feeling utterly helpless and lost.

My mind couldn't process the situation I found myself in.

Before I could comprehend what was happening, I was already tumbling down onto the unyielding ground, the impact sending a sharp pain through my body.

A loud thud resonated in my ears, while I scraped my elbow on the rough surface.

"Ahhh!" I winced, the sudden ache becoming unbearable.

My heart, already bleeding with sorrow, seemed impossible to contain.

"And, Aurora, I never want to see you near my doorstep again. If you dare show up, that child you're carrying won't live to see another day in Normhill!"

He threatened, hurling my bag at me, and then ruthlessly slamming the door shut in my face.

At that moment, the only question that consumed my thoughts was,

"What did I do to deserve this?"
