I was sitting on the TV room when a pissed off silver Lycan walked past me. “Are you alright?” I asked my sister Angela. She was tempting fate if she dared walk into the house, shifted into her Lycan. Mom´s ground rule was not Lycans in the house; here she was stumping and getting mud all over the place. Mom is going to pissed with a capital P.
She grunted my way, and in my mind just said, “Fuck Off!”
My older sister Angela tends to be very temperamental, but I like to keep to myself. I flipped the magazine page I was reading nonchalantly and shrugged. I was not going to engage with her, she was in her fucking Lycan form, for crying out loud.
“What happened?” Mom walked into the hallway and asked me, and I lifted my gaze and sighed.
“Angie came home pissed...” I said, and she pinched the bridge of her nose.
“I am telling you, if she walked over my white carp... Damn it!” she grunted, and I chuckled. She adored her white carpet; if you ask, it was a good one, but who would dare place it right in the middle of a very transited hallway with the risk of having a Lycan stomp all over her precious fluffy angel white carpet?
Dad walked out of his office to witness all the mud and scratches on the wall. “Who broke the rule?” he said in a mild voice. This was not his first time dealing with this. More times than we would have wanted to witness, Stavros and Grecco had trashed the place in their Lycan forms, thus the golden rule.
“Your oldest is having a life crisis...” Mom said, trying to control he blazing anger.
Dad nodded, and as usual, he slowly and very calmly walked towards the raucous. He was patient and collected; he barely lost his shit, and he was the perfect neutralizer for Mom´s dramatic ways. Sometimes, I think Angie got that temperament from Mom, while I got mine from Dad.
“Damn it, we need to fix the wall...” Dad said, and Mom gasped. I just chuckled, because, well.... c´est la Lycan vie...
Mom sighed, and she looked at me. “And you just let her walk all over!” she protested, trying to get me involved in the drama.
“I told her about the rule and she growled at me...” I lifted my hands in surrender, and she pinched the bridge of her nose.
“How many times do we have to remodel the place?” Mom mumbled, and I giggled.
“You wanted a big family, right?” I asked her, and she gave me a nasty side glance. The Goddess gave you one! Enjoy...” I smirked, and she slapped me playfully while laughing.
“Oh, Elisa... the man who gets to have your heart would be a lucky one.” Mom embraced me, and I smiled.
“I just want him to love me like dad loves you...” I said, and she smiled.
“Of course, you deserve all the love and happiness in this world. A handsome Lycan who would lie at your feet and love you like no other.” Mom said, and I smiled feeling giddy. I can´t wait to meet my mate..
A moment later, Dad walked out, and Angie sat beside him. “Sorry, Mom...” she said in a regretful tone.
“What happened?” I asked her, and she sighed.
“I am angry and confused,” she said, and I took a deep breath. Angie has struggled to find her place and loves a human, a partner incapable of feeling a mate bond, at least not able to feel it in full force. So yeah, her feelings are elevated and on the surface most of the time.
“Did you see Roger?” Mom asked, and she nodded.
“Yeah, we met up in Central City,” Angie said, and Mom nodded.
“Is it weird to feel all of this love, the pull, my Lycan falling for him, and yet not be sure?” she blurted, and I quickly got interested. That could be me in a few months.
“What do you mean?” Dad asked,
“Well, I am almost sure he is my mate. My Lycan hasn´t claimed him, because that would happen during the Moon Ball. Still, it bothers me not to know with certainty. He has been respectful and caring, but what if...” She sighed, and my dad nodded.
“Angie, the Goddess will take you on a journey and a path that will give you everything you have been searching for. Sometimes it’s not what we wish for or expect to happen, but in the end, she will straighten and mend everything to get you to the end goal.” Dad said, and I nodded.
“I get you were confused, but why were you angry?” I asked, and Mom shook her head.
“Haven´t you heard?” Angie said, and I shook my head. I was off the loop, as usual. My parents and brothers think I am too young to care or understand. The joke is on them because I see and hear many things around me.
“Not really, I was reading a magazine,” I said nonchalantly.
“Mat asked Roger to mediate between the Humans and Supernaturals...” Angie said, and I looked at her, not understanding the big issue. “Lorenzo was getting old and rusty. New blood was needed for that position, anyway. Good for Matty for making the call, and excellent opportunity for Roger, right?” I said, and she huffed.
“We are on the brink of war with the humans! Mat is risking Roger on purpose, " she said, while Dad shook his head and Mom blinked, trying to understand where all that was coming from.
“Good Goddess!” I stood up, and Angie gasped.
“You need to fucking grow up, Angie...” I said, and my father blinked, now dumbfounded.
“Mat will never risk Roger; he knows how much he means to you,” I said, and she blinked several times. Do you honestly think Arman will not support him, given that he is Ava´s foster brother?” I said, and Angie blinked again. "Don´t you think he is capable enough to handle the situation? To get the expected results?” I barked, and my entire family looked at me with something different—amusement, perhaps?
“We have been at war or solving an unsolvable conflict since we have memories! Didn´t Uncle Alex, Dante, and Dad fight the ultimate war, saving people and eliminating evil?” I asked and she nodded, “Didn´t Mat, Stavros, Grecco, and the others have been fighting against different evils all along? Barry, Gael, and whatever the name of the other bastards were?” I sighed ... “How is this situation any different?
And most importantly... What makes you think we will not make it?” I said, and my mother and father looked at me, stunned.
“I mean, that is the big picture, but if you want to focus on your small situation—that the man you have a huge crush on would face mild risk—so be it!” I said and took my magazine in my hands.
“I am going to read elsewhere... I am tired of all this drama...” I said, then looked at my sister, “Angie, not everything is about you.” I said, and then turned around to bump into Asteria.
“Wow, what got your panties twisted?” She said while taking the noisiest bite out of an apple.
“Miss Little Drama Queen...” I said, fed up. Asteria looked into the living room and stared at Angela.
“Roger again?” she said casually, while Mom and Dad nodded.
She took another bite of her apple, grating on my every nerve. “It is getting old, you know?” she said, bypassing me and slumping on a chair. "Are you going to read that?” she pointed at my magazine.
“Yes, I am!” I said, and she nodded.
I turned around and crashed into Mat´s chest. “Hey Elisa...” he said, and I rolled my eyes. He looked exhausted, fed up, and tired, and somehow, in my anger, I felt sorry for him.
Stavros walked behind him, and then Grecco casually entered holding another apple. Great, just great. I must hear Angie’s complaining, Asteria´s apple biting, and Grecco´s.
“It is so nice to have all my kids around.” Mom beamed, diverting the room's tension, and looking at me to move back into the room to have a nice family moment, right...
" I like the new decor...” Grecco pointed out the mud and scratches all around the hall. You just nailed it if you were going for abandoned and creepy.” He joked and took a bite of his apple, forcing me to sit down. Taking a pillow, I hit him with it.
Dad, who knew how to read the crowd perfectly, looked at Mat... “What is it, son?” he asked Matty.
“Nothing. Just Roger called me, and he won’t do it if this one disagrees...” Mat pointed at Angie, and she gasped.
“And I´ve seen the future, and he needs to handle the negotiations if we want to stand a chance...” Grecco bit his apple and covered his head before I hit him.
“I am out of here,” I said, standing up. You, Angie, need to stop being selfish. You... and you...” I paused and pointed at Asteria and Grecco. "They are noisy eaters,” I said, and left.
Finally, there is a bit of peace before all hell breaks loose again, with another episode of Angie and her tantrums.
Wyatt AmbermoonI fucking miss her, and my wolf is growing restless. I don't care if she is not meant to be mine. I need her beside me. She was like the little ray of sunshine that made my day. She was the rainbow in my otherwise colorless life...Fermin and Hunter are trying to keep their shit together, but not only are our packs and our positions as alphas on the line, but she is. Someone dared to take her from us, and they will pay, with their lives. It took Hunter almost a week to screen the possible locations, and after that... We will go searching. I don't have the patience for her family to give us a minute, nor am I willing for them to hurt her, because we were too slow or didn't get ahead in the game."Alright, tomorrow we will head to the Demon realm and try to do some research," Fermin said, and I looked at him."I would start with the Dragon realm... the Demon realm is far more complex than the Dragon realm," I said, and he sighed.
Fermin FrozenrockShe has vanished, and the pressure is increasing. The magic we had created to forge a bond with her is fading, our parents are breathing down our necks, and the tension is palpable.Wyatt is the worst when he is not in control of the situation. He is losing his shit, mostly because she broke his shell and managed to make him fall for her. On one side, he is worried about her, and on the other, he has his father breathing down his neck.Hunter is not happy that we lost her, but he is more controlled than Wyatt. "So, do you think she could have heard us?" Hunter asked, and I shrugged my shoulders."She was close to the staircase, coming down, I don't think she heard anything," I said for the nth time, when my phone rang."Fermin?" an auto-tuned voice called me by my name."Who is speaking!
Elisa D´AngeloThe way the guys looked at Acacia was worth every bit of the effort. Yes, she was glowing, and she only needed a little push to get out of that gray comfort zone. She is a woman, and as such, she needs to treasure her inner light."Then, with you guys looking like this... we'd better step up..." Lugh said, and I smiled."Go, get ready, because we are eager to go to bingo night," I said, and then Peyton added."We will, Ma´am, but I think Bingo night is too little for the way you dressed up tonight... maybe some bingo and dinner?" he said, faking a western accent, and I nodded. Acacia beamed, and I loved the way her energy transformed. She was already a lovely lady; now she will be a powerhouse, unstoppable, confident."I don't know how to thank you, Elisa..." She held my hands with gratitude."You don't have to do anything. You are already doing so much for me. You opened your home and your heart to me... and that is enough..." I smiled, "More than enough," I added, and
Urien DragnoirLugh, Peyton, and I headed towards the area of the fence that needed repairs. "She is a real beauty, brother," Lugh said, and I looked at him."Did Grandma tell you?" I sighed. Of course, she would have spread the news among the family."That's why we popped up for breakfast. We have a lot of things to do in the office, but we couldn't refuse to help with the fence. Not when she kindly spilled the beans," Peyton said, and I rolled my eyes.Classical!"So you are going to be a double cousin with Adam..." Lugh said, and I nodded."And? Are you ready to leave the barracks? I don't think a woman like that would be happy with a soldier..." Lugh added, and I took a deep breath. The military life, going out on missions, training, and serving, was my calling. My family didn't understand it, and I prayed that Elisa would."She knows I am part of the wings, and she doesn't seem to care," I said, feeling afraid that perhaps she might oppose the way I am choosing to live my life."
Elisa D´AngeloAfter breakfast, the guys went away, talking cheerfully about fixing the fence their grandmother needed to work on. I loved how my mate and his brothers were always available to ease the workload around the farm for Acacia.I became busy washing dishes when I felt Acacia's eyes bore into me. "So, you and my grandson... are there any great-grandbabies coming up soon?" she said, and I laughed."All in due time, Acacia..." I said, trying to keep it simple and allowing her to wander about whatever Urien and I had."Good, get to know each other better, before kids can come..." she said, and I smiled. I was not expecting her to say something like that, and yet, it sounded solid and sincere advice, which I nodded in agreement."I don't want to pry..." is the opening of a line that always tells you that the following words are exactly that, prying. "But, was it good?" she said, and I took a deep breath."Acacia, that is prying..
Elisa D´AngeloThe pull and the sparks were too much. I couldn't do anything else but surrender. His warm chest was pressed against my back. My camisole is a futile attempt at a barrier. He caressed me between my legs, and I shivered."Urien..." I moaned, and he kissed my neck, his lips trailing over my neck and shoulders."Relax, Love.. I've got you," he said, and I took a deep breath. He deepened his fingers into me, and I gasped. The feeling was so different; this time, there was no hesitation, no nagging voice behind my head. Not a single hair of my body wanted him to stop, and yet it would never be enough. And despite that, deep in my head I could hear the voices of the alpha's claiming me: "Mine, mine, mine..." I took a deep breath, the inhale filling my lungs with my fated mate's scent, and the voices faded. His arm around my waist pinned me against his body, while his fingers kept probing and circling every nerve ending of my
