CHAPTER 49

I shot up straight as if running from death. I sat up with my eyes wide, taking in the room as my chest heaved up and down. It felt as if I had just been drowning in a large body of water.  I took a gulp of air, my hand on my chest, searching the room but not sure what I was searching for or who? My eyes fell of the vampire king who stood up from the tub armchair where he had sat with a paper in his hand. I saw him coming closer only to sit on the bed. The darkness had claimed the room, my eyes staring at that chair, knowing it was tied to whatever I was searching for. My hand brushed on my chest, willing my heart down but like a brick to the face, the memories hit me hard. My eyes snapped to the king, accusing and angry, burning like a spit fire.

 I shook my head, too angry to even speak.

“I don’t want her near me.” I simply said, heaving with sweat trickling down my forehead. I watched the king as the words wash
