I found her around one of the bonfires. She was sitting on a bench with a dozen of the kids from the pack, including Cooper. Cooper was on her lap and the other kids were scattered around her listening intently as she told a story. I couldn’t help the pride I felt watching her. She fit in so well here and I still couldn’t believe she was mine.
As I approached she saw me and seemed to know it was time. She placed Cooper on the bench with the kids and walked to me. I took her hand and we made our way towards the make shift stage that we always had set up for meetings.
I stood on the stage alone with her to the side in the crowd at first. Rogue first, mate second was the order of announcements tonight. I cleared my throat and the grounds slowly went quiet. 1400 sets of eyes were on me and I waited another beat for the kids to stop chattering as well.

{ Raine } It has been 2 weeks since the barbeque. The day following the Alpha from France arrived and the meeting was held between the 5 of them. I learned from my mate afterwards that the rogue attacks here were the smallest of them in the European area. The other packs were getting attacked even more often than us and they agreed, it wasn’t the usual type. They were organized and seemed to be testing our borders, our protection. Our pack was the most protected with the most warriors so we hadn’t had many issues yet. The smallest packs were having the largest trouble, some had even lost members. I said goodbye to Anna and headed to find Nel. He was out at the training grounds along with about half the pack. Ever since word of how big this rogue problem is got out the pack members have stepped up their training. The few who had only taken beginner were now in the advanced class working on attack moves and Nel had created an elite training class for the top warriors to advance even more. He pulled my hands and dragged me into his office, letting me slide in on his lap while he pulled out his laptop and went to work, explaining everything as he did it. He was sending his two best trackers to meet Schmidt’s best trackers. Schmidts were the best in the world but Alex’s were top notch as well as being better fighters if they found trouble. Together the four would be tasked with information and infiltration. Apparently they were experts and Alex had every confidence in them.“We have information about these rogues but what we really need is the hierarchy. Are they run by one? A few? A rogue alpha or king? Is there a few leaders to make it so there is one per area or just one single guy calling the shots? What are they really after, death or something specific? These are the questions that we need before we even consider war.”The word rolled off his tongue so simply, but as it hit my ears it felt so heavy.
