LOGINDrew swept me off my feet without a second thought into the car, placing my head softly on the head rest.
“My baby..” i kept repeating, my fingers scratching the corners of Drew's seat. Drew then dipped his hand into his pocket and reached for his phone. He took in a deep breath and contemplated on dialing the number on the phone. “Mr Derrick…., he paused.” “Mrs Rebecca right now is in a critical condition and I'm taking her to the family hospital. Your presence will be of huge importance.” He said rigidly. But his eyes had sooner dimmed and his jaws clenched tightly. He then returned the phone to his pocket. “You just finished speaking with my husband Drew, is everything alright?” I asked worriedly. His eyes locked with mine as he stole a quick glance at me through the rear mirror. “He is in a meeting.” He said rigidly once again. “Its thanksgiving, and its a holiday. So there are no meetings.” I furrowed my eyebrows saying. “Tell me drew, is my husband in trouble?, is he fine? Because i know Derrick, he does not take matters like this lightly.” Drew scoffed. Taking a sharp bend into the hospital, he swiftly led us to the parking slot. He stepped right down and opened the door. “Mrs Rebecca,” he said softly for the first time, his baritone ringing in my ears. “Your husband is safe and fine, but you, you are the one who is not.”he paused, taking my hand. I took in a sharp breath as his skin touched mine. Taken aback by his gesture, our eyes locked in once again and those green pearls penetrated my soul. “I need you to be strong for your baby and for yourself, no matter what the condition is.”he said. I shook my head momentarily, fighting back the wave of emotions that bottled in me and nodded my head. He took me by my arm and led me out of the car. I held unto his hands tightly when the nurses sighted me from afar with the blood stain embedded in my bright pink dress. I gave his hand a tighter squeeze. “ Drew, I'm scared…” “i need Derrick..”i muttered. my heart sank as the nurses approached even further, but i felt his hand wrap around mine softly as he stared into my eyes innocently. “There is no way, the strongest and most stunning woman I've ever met can ever be scared., not while i’m there to protect her.” He said, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “Ma'am please you need to get on the bed.” The nurse urged. I swallowed, extending a weak questioning smile to him. His words were truly heartfelt. I thought. A bit too heartfelt in fact. “Please check up on Derrick.” I tugged on to his fingers. “Thank you.”i whispered. Immediately, they placed me on a mobile bed and as they rolled me away, our hands untangled. “Don't worry ma'am, you will be fine and you will get to be with your husband again.” The nurse said. I smiled uneasily. and then she pierced a syringe into my flesh. I took in a deep breath as i felt the sedative which was injected into my blood kick in. till it all went blank. - I sat up fully clothed in the hospital wears on the bed, I quickly assessed my body and the blood stain was gone. “Shes awake..” a nurse said, “Hows my baby?”The words flew out of my mouth non-hesitantly. She smiled briefly without uttering a word. As she opened the door, Drew let himself in. “Your baby is in good condition, and you are free to go.” He said softly, handing me the freshest tulip flowers i had ever received. He then leaned in to plant a kiss on my forehead but i turned my face, causing his lips to brush past my cheeks. My toes curled as his lips made slight contact with my skin. “Im sorry ma'am.” He said. His tone once rigid again. What was he thinking? “Prepare the vehicle, i have thanksgiving to meet up.” I said coldly. As i watched him exit the hospital room, suddenly, i felt the need to reach out to him, tell him i didn't mean it and ask him to lay over my head. This is not good. i immediately reached for my phone and dialed derricks number. Maybe it was the guilt from sharing a moment with drew hanging on my neck but i silently prayed the call had fallen into voicemail. “Rebecca..” i heard him say over the phone. His voice tight. “Der ..um…Derrick..” i mumbled. “you naughty boy..” A female voice giggled over the phone. I felt my throat run dry. I swallowed. Cancelling every side thought as i clung unto the phone tightly. “Derrick… you were meant to come see me at the hospital.” My voice cracked. “you were smart to have successfully terminated the pregnancy.” He said brashly. “Its…its not terminated yet..” i said, barely in whispers. “Its thanksgiving Derrick…and I'm thankful for this gift,” i paused saying. “Don't make me terminate this baby. I’m begging you.” “Well you can kiss this marriage a goodbye then.”He said, ending the call abruptly. The phone slipped from my hand as his final words fell on my ears.RYANS POV. I stood stuck in the pool of blood, my legs too paralyzed to move an inch. But as distraught as i was, soon, something caught my eyes, One that glued my eyes and tied my tongue. On the spot, i went down in a squat and stroked my two fingers across the blood. Picking up the diamond ring i adorned specially for her on our first anniversary. “Anna…?” My voice cracked. But it had sounded like an apology, For being useless to my own self sleeping while she was sent on a mission meant for me. My fingers were shaking, My lips trembling, My heart pounding. Was she killed the moment she stepped foot in here? What have i done?” I whispered to myself, folding the piece of jewelry in my palms. “What have i done?!!!!!!” I roared this time around. Rage sinking through my every cell, i pulled the door open forcefully and galloped in. Not Fiona, not an army of the people who did this, not the entire world could contain the hell i was about to rain down. No
RYANS POV “Anna?” I said, rubbing off the sleep patches in my eyes. I rose up from the bed lazily, as the rays of lights fumbled with my sight. Where was she? “Anna….” I called. “Anna?” I lifted my voice as i walked down the stairs, feeling a slight breeze of panic rush through me. But still there was no sign of her anywhere. And as my eyes swept around the sitting room impatiently, They landed on my phone which was tossed at the corner of the couch. Slowly, the tension within me grew, for so many reasons but the most was that, I never keep my phone away from me. Why? Secrecy purposes. Could she have read or seen something that made her leave so early? Then i picked up the phone. My jaws dropped. My heartbeat moving in a rhythm that no words can form. “Fuckkkkk” i cursed out loud. “Ten minutes on the phone with Fiona,?????” What possible conversation were they having?? What could she have said to her? I slammed my hand against the table. My he
DREWS POV.“You know when you say it like that…it sounds like its not the same me,” i adjusted, moving closer to her. But her face had no emotions in them,it looked like all the patience she had in her was threading on only a thin space for explanation. “Rebecca, look at me…,”“Please” Then she reluctantly motioned her eyes to me.“Allow me open up to you when the time is right …”i beckoned.“Then i guess its the right time for you to leave.” She said with annoyance.“You don't get it,” i countered her immediately. “Its not about me, it has nothing to do about me.” “Then whom is it about?!” She raised her voice, if that counts.“Its about you….” She stared at me unbelievably. “I became your driver, because of you. …” my tone faltered. “Still doesn't make any sense.” She flicked her teeth saying. “Its the only way i could get closer to you, to protect you.”“Protect me from wha….”She cut in Impatiently.I stared into her eyes hesitantly, Rehearsing the words to say to her b
REBECCAS POVHe blinked multiple number of times. To be certain i heard him correctly. “Wait…what?” His lips parted. He couldn't hide his surprise. “Mrs Rebecca,” he hesitated, saying.“Why would you say that?” His voice toned down to almost a whisper, I shook my head unbelievably. “Are you going to deny it?” I looked at him dead in the face. “Deny what?” He demanded. “Mrs Rebecca For goodness sakes, i don't even know what you are talking about..” he said in defense.“Are you seriously trying to play dumb with me Drew?…. I scoffed unbelievably. But his face remained poker. “Okay fine. “ I spat. “So you are going to deny That you were one of the doctors who attended to me , Drew don't stress me more than i already am.” I carefully sorted my words.“I think there must have been some form of mistake.” He averted his eyes saying. “Listen Drew, Ive spent these past days, weeks, months in ashes, walking on thorns,…”I then moved my which was completely bandaged in pain. My arm.
“Both the baby and the mother, are going to make it out alive.” I said, fixing my gloves. There were slight whispers amongst the nurses in the room, but now was not the time for small talks.“The bullet,” i squinted my eyes saying.“From the looks of it, the bullet pierced straight to the to the arm,, but where it gets messy is it collided past a vein leading to the brain.”It would require the highest level of the profession to skillfully reconstruct the vein, without affecting anymore nerves.I took in a deep breath. “Guys we need to pull out the baby, …..prematurely.”The only way to ensure they both survive. The doctors blinked in confusion as they turned their gaze to Dr Felix questioningly. I tightened the surgical mask around my nose and picked up the sterilized needles. “Well shall we?” I said, smacking my gloves. The operation began and as a team, we all worked together to ensure the best of the outcomes. But she had been given certain injections to put her out, while

Absolutely none! As i combed my hands into my hair, i blazed out and swung into the road. What if i was too late? Her struggles in the video Dominique sent to me haunted my every twist, my every turn. What if he hurt her ?My mind haunted me with real questions. My mind tr
