Chapter 2

Author: Ade lfe
Mathew barged in with a few of his friends, looking fierce and annoyed as he pulled Aria into his arms. “What gives you the right to provoke Aria?” He snapped, not even bothering to greet my father, who was higher than him.

Because I used to be madly in love with him, I had publicly announced he didn’t need to bother with any formalities with my family. I have even given him a higher rank where other alphas who were clearly more powerful than him have to bow to him.

I laughed softly to myself. I have been so foolish.

“Apologize to her now!” He ordered, pointing a finger to my face. I laughed at his audacity. Being reborn really opened my eyes to a lot of things. I have spent years training to be the perfect alpha only to be reduced to this by a man who isn’t even worth half of me.

“And if I don’t?” I met his gaze and his eyes widened in shock at my outburst. Before, all he had to do was raise his voice and I’d have been begging and doing whatever he wanted.

I would have sent a lot of gold and silver, several of stuff to his pack in effort to beg him. He would give me the silent treatment for days, having me run around and asking his friends for help.

“And what makes you think you have the right to barge in here and not bow to my father?”

“Bow to your father?” His friends repeated.

“Olivia, you’ve been chasing after Mathew for a long time now. Look, she even got her father to do a private mating ceremony for her? And you’re asking your future alpha to bow for a soon-to-be-dead one?” His friends laughed, mocking me.

One of them, Jake, leaned against the wall with a smirk. “Five years of trailing behind him like a lost pup. Everyone in the pack knows he doesn’t bow to anyone.”

“Yeah,” another chimed in, elbowing the first. “Remember when she waited outside the training grounds for three hours just to hand him water? And he didn’t even look at her twice.”

Hearing this, Mathew grew more confident. “I know you must have picked me as your chosen mate. If you don’t apologize to Aria now, you can forget about mating with me.”

“Mathew, she’s gonna get angry.” Aria said, feigning weakness as she clung onto him. “And Father is here; you can’t keep talking like that.”

My father stood up, almost to yell, when I stopped him. I can handle this. The last thing I wanted was dragging him into this again.

“What makes you think I’d choose you?” The moment the words left my mouth, everyone froze, Mathew’s expression changing as his friends exchanged glances.

Aside from me being obsessed with Mathew, his parents were also friends with my father. Those were the only two reasons why my father never opposed the mate arrangement. Out of respect for his daughter and their friendship bond.

“There are several powerful alphas here; what makes you think I’d choose someone like you?” I asked again.

After a long moment of silence, one of his friends burst into laughter. “Olivia, are you seriously trying to make Mathew jealous with such words?”

The others joined in laughing too.

“You’ve been licking his feet and acting like a maid for five years. No alpha from any pack would dare take you as their Luna.”

“Unless she wants to be the mistress,” another added, snickering.

Jake stepped forward a little. “Come on, Olivia. Drop the act. We all know you’ll crawl back the second Mathew snaps his fingers. You’ve done it before.”

“Every single time,” the third friend said. “Remember the border-patrol incident? She nearly got herself killed just so he’d notice her. And still he chose Aria’s company that night.”

Mathew laughed, stepping closer. “I know you’ve made up your mind to be my Luna, just like the last time. But I also have a few conditions, and if you can’t meet them, don’t even think for one second I will complete the mating ceremony with you.”

Hearing those words, I stared at him in shock, eyes wide. He didn’t say this in our past life. In fact, he had behaved like a gentleman and accepted the mate bond without hesitation.

What does he mean by “just like the last time”? He could not have possibly been reborn too, right?

“I will let you know now. I can complete the mate bond with you, but in my heart…” He paused and reached for Aria’s hand again. “There would only be Aria. As long as you don’t interfere with us, I will let you keep your position as my Luna.”

“Mathew!” My father finally snapped. “How dare you insult my daughter like that?”

“It’s okay, Father,” I said.

“Mat, you can’t say that. My sister is your soon-to-be Luna; she will be upset. This isn’t right.” Aria’s voice was soft, almost trembling, but her eyes stayed locked on me, waiting for my reaction.

“There’s nothing wrong with what I said. If she dares blame you, I won’t mate with her.” With that, he took her hand and walked away.

His friends followed, still chuckling.

“She’ll come running by tomorrow,” Jake said loud enough for the whole room to hear.

“Bet she already has the mating dress picked out,” another replied.

“Desperate alphas’ daughters always do.”

Mathew didn’t look back. Aria leaned into him as they left, her earlier tears gone.

I stared at the scroll and picture of the men in front of me and laughed. Mathew, I never planned on mating with you again in this life.

“Does it hurt?”I shook my head, eating the fruit my husband had peeled while he kept massaging my legs.“Do you want anything else? I can make it.”“Are you trying to fatten me up?” I asked, frowning.“It’s for the baby.” Kale bit his lips, trying to hide his blush even as his ears turned deep red. It was cute, how a whole king was reduced to a foot massager for his wife.“So you love the baby more than me?” I snapped, placing my hand on my swollen belly.Kale smiled sheepishly and continued pressing gently along my calves. “No. I love the mother. I love her the most; she’s the most strong and perfect woman I have ever seen.”It’s been five months since our mating ceremony and my life has never been better. Some days I still wake up expecting the old pain—the burning pull of a broken mate bond, the sound of Mathew bringing another woman into our room, the cold emptiness after the baby was gone. Then I feel Kale’s arm around me and the steady kick under my ribs, and I remember that lif

My eyes widened in shock as I took a step back. “You’re—you’re the Lycan King?” This didn’t happen in my last life.Kale nodded slowly. The king’s envoy who had been sitting idle stood up to the shock of everyone, and several other guards stepped in, all kneeling in front of Kale.“We wish our king a happy marriage,” the envoy declared in a clear voice that carried through the hall. “May he live long and rule with strength. May the Goddess bless this bond and grant the Blood Moon Pack prosperity for a thousand years.”The guards echoed in one voice, “May our king live long. May his Luna stand beside him in power and peace. May no enemy ever break what the Goddess has joined.”The entire room dropped into stunned silence. Even my father looked shaken. Mathew, still half-dragged by the guards near the door, went completely still, his face draining of color.I stared at Kale, the man I had just accepted, the same man who had quietly sat in a wheelchair for years while the world mocked him

Mathew froze, his eyes widened in disbelief as his voice shook. “What?! What are you doing?”The other guests who had arrived early also turned to each other curiously.“Hasn’t she always wanted to be Mathew’s Luna?”“Did the alpha make a mistake?”“This has to be a mistake. How can she get engaged to the crippled alpha?”Seeing I wasn’t speaking, Mathew rushed over, yanking my hand away from Kale.“What are you doing! Father, she’s supposed to be my mate!” He yelled.Even his parents had to lower their heads in shame at their son’s behavior. He was never even liked that much by them; they have always favoured his elder brother, but because of me in our past lives he has gained a lot of recognition and favors.“I may be old but I’m not stupid. This is the mate my daughter has personally chosen.” My father announced.Kale stared at me in shock, hardly believing his ears. “Are—you’re serious?”Mathew’s fingers hanging at his sides suddenly trembled a little. He unconsciously clenched the

Kale POV.“You’re making a mistake, Alpha.” Rowan complained for the tenth time as he helped me with my outfit. “Why must you fight for a woman who doesn’t want you when you can have several? You’re a king for God’s sake.”How do I explain I had a dream about our last life and she had been killed by her so-called husband? He had ruined everything she had, including her pack. How can I—a king—sit and watch the person I love being ruined twice? And with the way Mathew was behaving with Aria proves just how right my dream was.“You don’t understand.”“I do understand. What I don’t understand is how you fell in love with a woman just because she saved you from drowning. You even went as far as hiding your identity and making yourself weak alpha of a small pack? For a woman?” He said.I forced back a smile as I recalled how she had jumped into the river, dressed as a male as she pulled me up from the water.Everyone had isolated me because they all thought I was a demon from being different

By the time I arrived at the venue, every decoration had already been done. I stepped in with my already prepared dowry.Mathew and Aria were already waiting in the room. The moment he saw me, he marched towards me in anger. “Why haven’t you asked your maid to take Aria’s things back to her private manor?”“Why do you have such a bad temper? Not only did you chase her out, you also asked the servants to stop serving her?” As soon as the words left his mouth, he grabbed me by the neck, forcing me to lower my head.“Bow and apologize to her now. Or else we will not be holding any ceremony today.”“Mathew, stop.” Aria faked concern as she pulled him away. “Don’t blame him, please; he’s just feeling sorry for me.” She whispered, rubbing her belly.I clenched my teeth angrily, staring at them. In my past life this exact scene had played out differently. Back then I had already been his mate for two years. Back then I had already given him everything—the title, the pack, my body, my loyalty.

  • Reborn I Choose the Lycan King   Chapter 5

For the next three days, I have been busy with my mating-ceremony preparation. Mathew also didn’t come see me in those three days, but Aria had gone out of her way to make sure I knew of everything he was doing for her.“Did you see? Mathew is busy with Aria while Olivia is busy burying herself with their mating preparations.”“I can’t believe she would marry him. He’s basically cheating on her with her sister.”“Wasn’t she adopted?”“I heard she’s pregnant.”Rumors like this would have sent me spiraling to my father in my past time. It was just life before I caught them sleeping together in our bed. They didn’t even bother covering up when I caught them. Aria looked at me with a smug expression as she urged Mathew on, saying how exciting it was for me to stand there and watch.I was so angry I had almost gone insane as I brought the matter to my father. He was just as annoyed as I was. They decided to send Aria away after forcing her to terminate the pregnancy.Being too soft-hearted,
