Taming the green eyed monster

Kira's POV

The vicious sneer Declan had on his face towards an unbothered looking Xander, would have been a bit surprising for me if it was two years ago. Since, I was just meeting Declan for the first time. But then, knowing the both of them are half brothers it's enough to tell me everything I needed to know.

"Are you deaf or something? What are you doing here?" Declan hollered again.

This time Leila jumped in defence when she saw Xander making his way towards me.

"Can you behave, young man. What are you?" She inquired from him

Xander caresses his nose like he was tired of listening to the both of them. He had a look on his face as he held my gaze.

Ayla was practically jittery with delight as she held the gaze of Xander's wolf too. I almost flopped, giving myself out to the awful people in the room. Looking away from Xander I cleared my throat.

"Can I get water, please Leila." I said to her, trying to put up my brightest smile. But it hurt the sides of my lips badly.

"Are you sure you can be alone here with him?" Leila asked, giving Xander the stink eye.

Declan straightened his shirt, "I would be right here, you don't need to worry."

I shook my head, glad I would be disappointing him. "There is no need for you to stay please, I need you to get the doctor for me. Please."

Seeing they had no choice but to oblige my request, Declan and Leila practically filed out of the ward room grumbling to themselves.

"How did you find me?" I inquired from him the moment the coast was clear.

Xander shrugged, dipping his hands in his pocket. "I can't really tell, just my wolf dragging me down here."

He paused for a while, giving me a weird look. "And why are we here discussing like we are best of friends?"

I am just as shocked as he was to, Xander and I never saw eye to eye. Most especially because i was the mean one. And if he remembers that, does that mean he died too?

"Were you dead?" I whisper yelled.

With a blank look on his face, he flared his nose. "No, I wasn't dead and I am still not dead. What nonsense are you blabbing on? Have you been drugged through the injection?"

My head was beginning to ache again, this isn't quite natural. It's a different sort of ache that puts you in a confusing state. What sort of game is the goddess trying to play. This all began to look like a mishaped movie directing of a person's real life story.

Because, why in the world do I have a mate in this second chance of mine. And not just anyone but Xander of all people. She could have been more creative by mating me alongside someone totally unknown.

"What are you thinking about?" His voice seeped into my thoughts.

I cleared my throat sitting up, didn't even realize I was lost in thought. "We might need to sit and discuss this a bit later. But, what exactly are the things you remember about me?"

This time he gave me the most awful look anyone would give to a mentally deranged person. "Pardon me, but are you saying you don't have any recall of who you really are? And i really still can't place the reason I am here. I just find myself trailing your smell."

Sighing, he turned around for a while. "You know what, lets forget about all of this for a moment. I am more concerned about your health. Are you fine now? Heard your family got into an accident, are they okay?"

"They are all fine." I responded in a distant voice.

Before we could say anything further, mum walked into the room. "Hey there, baby." She mused.

Bowing his head towards her hurriedly, Xander mumbled a goodbye and ran off.

"What's wrong with him?" Asked mum.

If only she knows how confused I am too, the only one who appears unconcerned with whatever is going on right now is; Ayla.

"He just needed to head out real quick." I replied.

"A friend of yours?"

"Yep. Why are you here mum, is dad and Amber okay?"

"They are still not awake, but I needed to come see you. Where is Leila?" She questioned, looking around the room like Leila is suppose to pop out at the mention of her name.

"I asked her to help me with water." I said and almost but back my tongue when a water dispenser stared right in my face, filled to the brim with just about enough water to drown if you want.

"If you needed water, you could have just gotten from here. Why send her all the way down?" She said, standing up to get me some.

Talk about the devil and he shows himself in different forms. Leila appeared pissed as I glanced towards her direction. Declan trailed behind her like a lost puppy along with the doctor. Having a good look at Declan now, I wonder what It was I was thinking to have ever thought he was the one for me.

That young man looks undeserving of a pretty and influential person like myself. Not to brag, but it's the bitter truth.

"I am so sorry kira. How did I not know there was a dispenser right in here?" Leila muttered, trying to sound oblivious.

She definitely needed to get out and restrategize with Declan on what their next step would be. A thought strucked me all of a sudden. If they had been desperate enough the first time they had attempted to wipe out my family. Then they would definitely find every other means to do so again.

I need to get out of this bed and find an appropriate means to ensure my entire family is saved.

"Are you okay, Kira?" The doctor jolted me from my thoughts.

I had zoned out again, this doesn't really look good on me. They might catch on if I keep getting lost.

"Pardon me please. I think I might be feeling a bit exhausted from the whole accident." I said, throwing a pleading look at Leila. In return she gave an understanding smile.

Such a pretender!

"You should rest Kira. Your blood pressure is about to go on the rise." The doctor adviced.

If only they know the only reasons for the rise in my blood is due to this two hidden green eyed monsters In front of me.

Declan moved towards me again trying to keep a close contact. This guy really has no regard for privacy. He tries too hard and his closeness irritates the hell out of me.

"Can you not come close please." I mumbled sternly.

Mum face was a mask of worries, "how about we all just leave for her to rest please." She said

"That would be very nice. I know we are all worried about her,but she wouldn't get the rest required If she is distracted from sleeping." The doctor added.

Leila looked pissed, I have no idea why I didn't see through her two years ago. But now she is more like a plain book to me.

Just as the doctor was about to leave. A nurse panted heavily as she stood by the door frame, looks like she was running from a monster.

"Doctor! The alpha, the alpha!" She stuttered.
