Kira's POV
My body ached as I tried to move, I blinked several times to get a hang of my sight. The whole room blurred my vision. My throat dry and itchy as I tried to swallow.
It took me a long while to finally hold down a memory of what had happened to me. I jerked up hurriedly, feeling a electric string of pain shoot through my entire body.
"Move with caution." Ayla warned
I hissed ignoring her; where in the world is everyone? I was the only one in the white painted room, which is obviously an infirmary. If I am in the infirmary ward, then my dad and Amber are definitely around somewhere.
The moment my legs touched the ground, one would think it was an alarm that had alerted everyone around.
"Hold still please, how are you feeling?" The doctor inquired.
I tried to shake my aching head slowly, "yes, I am fine. Where is my dad and my sister?" I inquired.
"I need to ensure you are fine first, let me run a quick check on you." He insisted.
Whoever this doctor is, he is really getting on my nerves. All I want is to see my family. Realizing he wouldn't listen if I tried being polite. I mentally beckoned to Ayla, she enjoys being a bully. The moment Ayla growled at him, holding him in place with a vicious glare.
He gulped hard, moving out of my way.
"Where are they?" I questioned.
"By the end of the hallway in the private suite." Came the response.
Making my way out of the ward, after pulling the drip out of my hand. I made my way towards my family, my heart palpitated at the thought of losing my dad especially.
This shouldn't happen for the second time; i would like to believe that the second chance granted unto me by the goddess is to help save my family and also enable me a chance at revenge.
"Baby." Mum called out the moment I stepped into the ward, she was teary eyed.
"What happened?" I asked, "where is dad and Amber?"
She sniffed loudly, "the both of them are recuperating. Your dad might take a while before he recovers."
Nodding my head absentmindedly, I walked towards the both of them. They had been placed in the same ward but different sides of the room since they aren't the same gender.
I checked on my dad first, the thought of someone tampering with the car to hurt my family just to get at me.
Declan and Leila must have lost their minds, to think I would fall victim to their madness again. Heading towards Amber, she sleeped peacefully. Her affected leg has been bandaged.
A part of me felt at peace knowing they are safe, at the same time I worry about what might happen next.
A sound of heels clanking against the tiled floor made it's way towards the ward. I don't need anyone to tell me otherwise; it's Leila.
Two years ago when this same thing had happened, she had rushed down to the infirmary to console me instead over the loss of my father and sister.
I waited patiently with an amused look in my eyes to read her expression. As expected a glint of disappointment was in her eyes the moment she stepped into the ward to find me nowhere near distress.
"Oh my goodness, Kira! How are you doing?" Her voice rang through the four walls of the room.
It irked me seeing her so close and pretentious. The old me would have fallen into her arms, expecting to be consoled by a willful poisonous snake like Leila.
"How nice would it feel to tear her to pieces right now?" Ayla suggested.
Counting my breath, I held Leila's gaze. "They would be fine as promised by the doctor."
"How are you Luna?" She asked my mum, leaning into her.
The urge to throw the slippers on my feet at her was so strong, but I know better than letting myself exposed like that.
"Why are you in the patients wear?" Asked Leila.
I looked down at myself almost forgetting that I was supposed to be in bed. I shrugged, " I am fine, just went unconscious for a while."
"Let me help you back then." Her hands grazed my skin causing Ayla to growl.
"Don't worry Leila. I can walk on my own."
Kissing my mum on the forehead, I returned to the ward room with Leila trailing me behind. I could tell she wants to ask me something so bad.
As expected she was curious to know about what had happened with the meeting she had set up. How cold and selfish can she be?
"Declan called to say you walked out on him. Was that when you received the call about the accident?" Her questions fell over each other.
"I....."
She didn't let me finish, "I called declan over though. He has been really worried about you, especially since you practically walked away without waiting to talk to him."
I bit back on my tongue as I attempted to argue with her. To my amusement, Declan stood by the door frame staring innocently at me.
"I texted him." Leila said defensively.
Letting out a long breath, I tilted my head at him as he made his way towards me. "Thanks for coming."
"I was just really worried about you. I am glad you are fine now." Declan mumbled, holding my hands up.
Does this guy have no respect for privacy and not hold onto me like I belong to him. I snatched my hands away from him, massaging the spot unconsciously.
Silence engulfed the entire room, I wasn't ready to say anything yet. Still trying to act like I am in shock over the accident.
Leila cleared her throat, looking round the less fancy space. "I heard the car had been tampered with. Do you have any idea who it might have been?"
Her knowledge about the fact that my dad's car had been tampered with, would have made my foolish old self to think Leila is a really brilliant person and catches unto things faster.
But I could read beyond the facade she is trying really hard to put up. She and Declan knew exactly what went wrong with the car.
I feigned ignorance making a sad face. "I have no idea how that happened. Probably, it must have been a brake failure." I tried to sound oblivious to them.
"How were you able to get to them on time, considering how far they were from home." She kept on.
Rubbing at my head to avoid the conversation, I leaned into the bed. "I wish I can explain that. My head aches." I muttered.
"Do I need to get the doctor?" Declan inquired, just like he had did when I passed out unable to take the news of my father and sister passing. Since I was with him when I had gotten the call.
I had thought it was love at first sight when he was there all through the times I mourned my family. It's so relieving to know that, their first attempt at ruining my family is a failure.
"I would really appreciate it." I smiled weakly.
The moment he turned around, Declan stood rigidly on the spot. "What in the world are you doing here?" He bellowed angrily.
Kira's POVIt's been a month since the Blackstone pack got rid of its plotters, a month since Elizabeth died. Leila and Declan have since been locked up in the dungeon awaiting their trial. There was no need to hurry it up, it's not like they would ever get an escape from there. Their sentence would be judged based on their two times attempted murder and plotting against the throne. I wish them nothing but the best in their forthcoming trial. After the deed, Xander got to investigate on the fraud Elizabeth had engaged in while she ruled as the CEO of his father's company. It didn't take long before he got his rightful position back and took over his inheritance. I was thrilled for him, as for Mira, I had to have her released. She didn't really do much, even though she had kidnapped me. I didn't need to tell the pack council that. Uncle John kept to his promise and has been visiting from time to time. He and my mum seem to enjoy spending time together playing Scrabble. I'm glad she
Kira's POVXander didn't wait for me to explain further, he said he was on his way. I wanted to avoid making any hasty decisions without the key members of the pack. In less than thirty minutes, the large meeting room was filled up with every member of the pack council and Xander. “Why did you call a meeting all of a sudden, princess Kira?” Zeta Felix inquired.Asking for them to wait for me, I called in John to repeat his information about Elizabeth and the rest to them. Which he repeated without mincing a word. They couldn't doubt him, my father had ensured the pack members could trust the rogues with their words. Beta Mason scoffed, “how dare them even think of going up against us? Such audacity!” “What should we do now? Should we go after them?” Asked Felix.I sighed, turning towards John. “What do you advise we do uncle?” He shrugged, “there is much to do, I have no intention of taking my men on a fruitless journey. So, since you won't be crossing anybody's territory without
Kira's POVI feel like whatever it is that has brought uncle John to the pack house must be vital. Whatever it is I can only hope it would be of help to the course on the ground. The entire pack has been on high alert for the past week over the escape of the pack traitors. Knowing they wouldn't give up and might be planning something big against us. I have asked the zeta to engage in rigorous training with the soldiers. They need to be as prepared as possible. After lunch, John asked to have a word with my mum and me. Amber left reluctantly, I am sure she is just as keen to know what he has to say just like every one of us. Calling him into the study with my mum, we all settled on the couch waiting for him to speak. John cleared his throat, clasping his hands together. “I want to start by saying that this family means a lot to me, and I am not just saying this to sweet talk you. Kendrick made me understand that being different from the rest of the people doesn't mean you must be evil
Author's POVJohn got lost in thought as he drove towards the pack house. He couldn't seem to feel sorry for Elizabeth. She deserves whatever comes to her, he never would have thought that a time would come when he would be able to look her in the eyes without breaking down. John would have never imagined himself to be a lover. But then love knows no rogue or anyone else, as soon as your heart finds interest in someone. You are doomed and nothing else helps. He didn't get a chance at finding a mate, which implies he could choose any woman to be with. His treacherous heart had him fooled by Elizabeth, and he fell for her with no caution. For some reason known to her alone, Elizabeth comes to drink at the usual spot of the rogues. He had noticed her countless times, she would sit alone drink herself to stupor and somehow find her way home. The day he finally got the courage to approach her, she was still on her first bottle. That was how he got to know of her husband's maltreatment. Jo
Author's POVTaking another look at his wristwatch, Declan's heart remained unsettled as he thought about what would become of him is John refused to show up. It's almost noon, and he still hasn't caught a glimpse of him. His eyes continue to glance at his mother, who seems to be having a swell time mocking him. This might probably be the end of Declan ever trying to do things on his own if a flop occurs. Gripping the edge of his chair tightly, he exhaled. “Are we going to sit here all day waiting for no one to show up?” Elizabeth inquired. “It's not noon yet, Elizabeth. There is still plenty of time to be patient.” Leila chipped in, tired of Elizabeth gloating about her ability. Leila wants Declan to have enough control, which would put Elizabeth on the sideline and give her more power. She wished more than anyone that John would arrive and show his support to Declan. Standing up, she patted his back to comfort him. “What if he doesn't come?” He asked her. She shook her head, wh
Author's POVRunning as fast as his legs could carry him, Declan moved at the full speed of rage. When he got to the rogues' territory, he was beginning to feel fear at how tough the guards looked. Bracing himself, he walked towards them with a determined stride.“Where do you think you are going?” One of the guards said in a tough voice. Declan held his gaze, “I want to see your leader, John.”The guards stared at each other, laughing, one of them said. “you have got a lot of nerve to come in front of us and seek for our leader. Who are you?” “Tell him, I am Declan, the son of Elizabeth and the next Alpha of Blackstone pack. And I won't leave here until he talks to me.” They burst into another fit of laughter, wondering if he was crazy. Their laughter faded at the sight of his determined look. Whispering to one another, one of them ran into the pack to find their leader. John was seated in front of his cabin, enjoying the atmosphere, with the damsel next to him massaging his feet.
