He lowered his gaze, raising his brows to see me in a bridal dress.

His eyes fell on my feet. "You got hurt!" He spoke with a stunned tone.

Then without another word, he leaned down and lifted me in his arms.

"Let me take you to the hospital first."

I gasped, looking at him with a shocked face. He carried me to his car and placed me in the passenger seat.

Those men who were following me came to stop beside the car. They looked at Jackson’s back and spoke with an angry voice.

"Who the hell— Oh! Alpha Jackson!"

Jackson turned to them. They chuckled and backed away. "We had no idea you knew her."

Jackson gave them a hard glare. They turned around and ran away.

When Jackson got to the driver’s seat and started his car, I stared at him.

Jackson had a great influence in Brimstone City, in both packs.

People obeyed him as a great businessman. They say the Morrigan family has properties everywhere in Brimstone City.

In my past life, I never tried to know this man. I used to think he was Roman's enemy, so I never tried to interact with him.

However, before dying in my past life, I met him a few times in a few events. He tried to tell me that Roman was not the right person for me and he didn't deserve a wife like me.

“Thank you,” I spoke out, my voice came out as a low whisper in the silent car.

Jackson glanced at me. There was a worry in his face. “It's okay. I am just thinking about your feet. I hope you didn't get hurt because of me.”

He thought I was thanking him for taking me to the hospital. But I was thanking him for my past life.

“By the way, I am Jackson Morrigan,” he introduced himself.

“I know,” I mumbled, my eyes on him.

He had a fair face with light brown hair. He had a V-shaped face; his eyes were not fully black.

Whenever the lights of the street lamp fell on his orbs, I could see them glowing light brown.

When we arrived at the nearby hospital, the staff helped me to sit in a wheelchair.

A doctor checked my feet. My right foot got a bandage.

“It's a mild ankle sprain. It will take two-three days, and you'll be fine,” the doctor assured.

“Thanks,” Jackson said to him.

I was about to thank the doctor too, but my eyes were drawn to the television hanging on the wall across from the hospital bed. The sound was mute, but there was a news telecast on the screen.

“Breaking News! Alpha Roman’s wedding is canceled. The reason is still unknown, just like the face of his ex-fiancée."

I stared at the television. Just like that, I became Alpha Roman's mysterious ex-fiancée. But in my head, he was my cruel ex-husband.

When the doctor left the cabin, I turned my head to Jackson. He was staring at the television.

“You hate Alpha Roman, don't you?"

My sudden question surprised Jackson. He looked at me. "Who told you that?"

"I just guessed. He is your rival after all."

He shrugged his shoulders. He pulled a stool near the bed and sat down.

We were silent.

I didn't know if I should get along with him. But I couldn't forget how he was screaming outside the warehouse when he saw me burning. My heart moved, thinking about that.

I lowered my head, taking deep breaths. Sometimes even strangers care for you more than the people you love.

Suddenly I heard Jackson speak with a chuckle.

"How about you? Don't you hate him as well?"

I was shocked. I lifted my head and looked at him.

"Pardon?"

Jackson tilted his head and asked, "You ran away from your wedding, didn't you?"

"H-How do you know?" I asked with confusion.

He pointed his finger at my wedding gown. "You are still in a bridal gown. You were running on the street all alone, no one there to accompany you except some street boys."

My cheeks flashed red in embarrassment. I averted my gaze away. "Well..."

I couldn't reply. But something hit my mind. I looked back at him instantly. "How do you know I hate Roman? How do you know I am the girl Roman was going to marry?"

Jackson stared at me for a while. His silence felt awkward to me. He then broke it.

"I saw you once standing outside the pack company, holding a bouquet. I went there for a meeting. The meeting ran for two hours. But you were still there waiting for someone."

While talking, his gaze moved as if he were recalling the day. "Later I got to know that you were Alpha Roman's fiancée."

His voice was smooth. He was just simply explaining things to me, and yet I found them really comfortably calm.

"I didn't run away. I rejected him as my mate and husband and then left the hall with my head high," I said, trying to correct his misunderstanding.

He was taken aback at my words. "Really? What made you reject him? You seemed to be so in love with him."

I wish I could tell him the horrible truth of my past life.

I gave him a sad smile. "Long story. All I can say is he doesn't deserve me."

He didn't move his eyes from me, nor did he say anything else.

The atmosphere was thick in the cabin. I felt cold even though the air conditioner was turned off.

I looked away, rubbing my arms over the net sleeves of my gown.

Jackson noticed it. He got up and took off his suit jacket. He stepped closer and wrapped it around me.

I was stunned. I glanced at his jacket and then at him.

He stared down at me. I couldn't break eye contact. I yearned to ask why he was trying to save me in my past life.

But without any doubt… In the world of villains like Roman, Jackson was a saint.

Jackson's eyes moved on my face and lowered. He seemed to freeze when his eyes landed on my collarbone.

"This locket..." he muttered with a frown.

I glanced at him. I instinctively clutched the cool metal tighter against my collarbone.

"T-That's the only thing my parents left me with," I replied.

His brows shot up. "Are you sure?"

I was caught off guard by his sudden change in demeanor. "Why? Do you know something about this locket?" I asked with sudden developed hope in my heart.

His hand reached out for the locket. I slowly lowered my hand, allowing him to touch it.

His fingers brushed my skin, slowly caressing the snowflake-shaped locket.

As if an electric shock jolted him by touching it, he pulled back his hand. His eyes widened.

He stared at the locket as he mumbled with disbelief.

"I think I have seen this somewhere.”

It was an ancient palace, a place where thousands of histories had been engraved. It was dark but gothic. Everything just seemed to stop around me. I stared at the blank, I had no idea where. A taxi came to a stop near me. The driver rolled down the window and looked at me."Madam, where do you want to go?"My gaze was on the doorframe. I was lost. I couldn't get myself back from the words that Jackson had said before hanging up.'How is it even possible? I was the Lycan king's daughter? The mighty Lycan King whom everyone is afraid of? Even Roman Ashford, whom everyone was scared of for his power, had worked under the Lycan King. How can I... a mare Omega be a daughter of Lycans?'The questions kept hitting my head, preventing me from coming back to reality. The driver might think I was crazy. He gave me a strange look and spoke again, "Are you okay, Madam? The street is safe, but you won't get a taxi here easily.”I was still in a daze. I blinked, lifting my gaze from the doorframe, and focused on the driver.“If you want a ride, then get in,” he said.I slowly got in the backseat and c

Roman was frustrated, but he was too arrogant to react. He was calmly sitting on the couch.I knew what he would do. It would only take a few minutes for him to take the news down.Alpha Raxon looked at him. "What's this, Roman? Mira is saying the right thing. What are all these pictures? You are no longer a free man, you are the crowned leader of this Lunar Crest Pack." His angry voice came out, scolding him."Dad, didn't you hear Laura? Everyone is misunderstanding their relationship. They are just good friends," Roman's father, Alpha Luca, said.Meanwhile, Roman's mother was staring at Roman, waiting for his son to speak up for himself. However, Roman was too aloof to give me a justification.Laura started crying. She sobbed, staring at her phone screen."Someone is trying to ruin my reputation! Roman is the head Alpha. People will forget his scandals. But what about me? I am destroyed."She was faking the cry. I could see that clearly. In my past life, she was the one who spread m

"Where?" I asked without a second thought. "Where did you see it?"Jackson kept his gaze on my locket for a while.
