I stood still in confusion as Adira walked out. I could sense and feel her anger, which I knew was because Scarlet was here, but what surprised me was why she was cold towards me. I wanted to rush after her, but I knew that I had to deal with the situation first.

“Why are you here, Scarlet?” I asked calmly even though I was raging inside.

“I came to see you,” she replied and continued eating. “Take a seat; let us eat and talk. It has been a long time,” she said.

“There is nothing to talk about between us anymore, Scarlet. You also do not need to visit me, but since you are already here, you might as well enjoy the pack for a while before you leave. And that is only because of the relationship between our families,” I said firmly.

“Why are you being so cold?” she snapped and got up. “You were the one begging me to stay with you, to not leave you. Now I am back, and you are acting like this?” She pushed her chair back and walked over to me.
