Chapter 3. Take a chance to see you

After a few minutes of recognizing her thought, Catherine got out of the bath room, then she opened the large and wide closet to find one clothe that should be simple but too naive and bright enough. So many dresses with all of the models from so many famous brands. How could she buy so many things like that? How could those dresses seem… colorful and flashy?

When she was young, she had been stupid, no wonder why. She absolutely knew it.

Catherine found the simplest white dress in the bottom of the closet, breathing a sigh of relief. Finally she had found something to wear. Today was an important day. She intended to find that man, but with all those colorful dresses here, there was no doubt that he would think she had been an brain-ness girl who likes to show off her flashy life.

Besides that, Catherine had undergone so many pains and had completely changed her mind. She was allergic to luxury things that have pushed her down a miserable path. She didn't want to turn into an empty doll anymore. She just wanted to return to the simplest and most basic "Catherine".

Shedding the foolishness of the past, she needed to start from reforming her wardrobe.Catherine laughed and quickly changed her dress. Jake should take her today, she needed to cherish her friendship with him.

Catherine looked at herself in the mirror again and couldn't help but feel happy. The young Catherine was unlike when she was a twenty-five years old woman, beautiful but rotten from inside. She had lived like a tree without sunshine, without a purpose in life, gradually withering in the guise of fake happiness.

Shut that f*** off! There was no time for nostalgia for this damned past.

Catherine turned around, bursting into laughter. That's good, the body is still beautiful, the skin is as white as milk, smooth without a pore. No need to wear makeup that looked too perfect like a statue. Catherine had been tired of wearing a mask to show off someone's face.

“Catherine! Have you woken up yet? I had to postpone my hunting trip today to accompany you. Lady Catherine might still oversleep, don’t you?”

From downstairs came the loud call of Jake - her best friend. Catherine tried to hold back her sobs, then calmly replied:

“Jake, you are grumbling like my brother! I am coming!”

“Oh God! My dearest Cate, should I be old like your brother?”

Catherine laughed happily, running faster downstairs. It had been too long since the last time she had lived with her true feelings. It had been a long time since the last time she had heard her best friend's voice. She had missed so many precious good things in the world, and now she wouldn't be stupid enough to miss it again.

Catherine rushed down the stairs and she could see Jake's tall and thin figure to wait calmly. She said happily:

“Thanks Jake, for always waiting for me.”

“Merlin! Why is Lady Catherine so polite today?!”

Jake pretended to panic and teased her. His short black hair was neatly trimmed, his face still had the handsome features of a noble man, but he was still a seventeen-year-old teenager full of youthful breath. Jake's smile was still as in Catherine's memory, as carefree and refreshing.

"Let's go Jake! I want to go out!"

Jake raised eyebrows and asked back:

“Where is your friend-Anna? Are you bored?”

Catherine took her bag and hat from the servant, and replied nonchalantly to Jake:

“That's right, I'm bored. I realized that she is not as naive as I thought. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong person.”

Jake gave Catherine a look of approval. He replied immediately:

"It's a bit sudden, but you're right. Don't make friends by their appearance, Cate! Anna looked sweet but inside her, she wasn't like what she had shown off. I had warned you before but you never listened."

Hearing Jake's complaint, Catherine quickly nudged her good friend on the shoulder and immediately said back:

"Yes yes, you were right. Now I'm not stupid anymore, then no need to worry my friend."

"That's fine. Let's go eat now, then go shopping. You were screaming over the phone that you can't find a dress for the party tonight, right?"

Jake opened the car door for Catherine and then sat in the driver's seat, waiting for her to fasten her seat belt before starting. His modern car quickly sped up the straight road of the upper-class of that City.

“Yes. All of my clothes didn’t match at all. But let's drive to one address first, please."

Jake raised his eyebrows in disbelief then said:

"Didn't you and Anna go shopping the other day? How many sets have you bought?"

"No, they all were not suitable", she frowned when hearing the name “Anna” but she did not show her displeasure right in her face. She tried to talk in a normal voice:

"I've looked at it again, there's no such thing as a suit.”

Jake laughed out loud and raised his hands in surrender. From their childhood, he could not resist his best friend for everything she wanted. Catherine was not only his friend but his family. He pinched her nose and said:

“Alright alright! Hold on Cate, where do you wanna go next?”

Catherine had a minute of suddenness when she thought of that person. She tried to calm herself and remember the address of his company when she had once passed by in the past. In those old days, she wasn't sober enough to let go of Billy’s prison, so she couldn't remember anything else, no matter how he came up to her.

Catherine had regrets but didn't want to blame herself any more. She adjusted her emotions, tried to suppress the fluttering emotions and said a series of addresses, hoping Jake wouldn't be suspicious.

Jake paused for a moment, eyeing her in surprise. He asked:

"Cate, what do you want to come to Borrisons Financial Corp for?"

"Ha ha, no need to worry Jake. I have something to do nearby. It will only take a few minutes."

Catherine smiled then replied. After a couple of seconds, Jake just pretended to understand. He replied:

"Oh, I remembered. Next to the that Borrisons Financial Corp building, there's a new Lavender's showroom, right? My sister just went there a few days ago, and it seems fine."

"Yes, that's right. But hurry up Jake, you are driving so slow~~~."

Catherine quickly laughed along, breathing a sigh of relief. She also just wanted to drop by and try her luck to seek a chance to meet that person. In her memory, that man soon became the chairman of the Borrison Financial Corp, but it was not clear whether this year or not. Before that, Catherine was completely unknown. It was too embarrassing to have his love but she did not care at all.

Her eyes had gone red and she told herself she would never treat him the same way she did. She just wanted to see him, and then, if possible, she swore to make him happy with everything she had by chance.

Jake took Catherine to the Lavender's store without realizing Catherine's nervousness. He told her:

"Just wait here when I find a parking lot, ok? Then I'll buy a drink. You still like coffee but wanna try something new?"

"Ah... okay, it's okay Jake. Coffee is fine, I'm not picky."

She replied haphazardly, her eyes never leaving the lavish and splendid twenty-five-floor building.

When Jake turned away, Catherine hurried to move and stand in a corner and gazed intently at this strange but not yet familiar place right in her eye sign. She once had the opportunity but did not know how to cherish it, so now she must beg for luck to see that person. She couldn't think of a way to approach him right now, even make him fall in love with her again.

It's true to wish for sudden luck. Will he appear or not? How long will she have to wait?

She leaned against the pillar in the right corner of the shop, her eyes were dreamy and a little sad. At this time, she really looked like a fairy with a pure and mature aura that attracts people's eyes. A moment of inattentiveness, she glanced far away, and her beautiful figure fell into one man’s eyes.

She didn't notice, only turning her head around as if searching, and he was still dumbfounded as if he was captured. Like an electric current running down his spine, he shivered from the strange emotions that were swirling in his heart. It was like he had met her before, and had known her for a long time
