A Luna

Chapter Six - A Luna

Nina’s POv

I stopped walking when I heard voices inside the council room.

I shouldn’t just be here doing nothing, I needed to observe, I needed to know why this pack is so much dark than any I had been

My father will say, Nina, learn to observe your surroundings. Don’t rush into anything. If you don’t understand where you are, you can lose everything… even yourself.’

The voices sounded like the pack  elders were speaking first.

“If by next week you don’t present a Luna,” one of them said,

“Your position as Alpha will be questioned.”

Then Tristan's voice came calm, sharp.

“Who says I don’t have one?”

I froze. A Luna?.

My heart slowed.

So… he already had a Luna?.

But ever since I got here, I dint know, I haven’t even heard about him having a mate, or anything that sounded like a Luna, maybe she’s being kept for a special moment like this.

Well, it’s none of my concern. 

Then I heard it again. “Bring her. Nina.”

This time I was more confused. Nina? Me?.

No… that can’t be right.

There must be another Nina here in the yard.

That’s what I want to believe now.

I quickly stepped back from the door and sat down, trying to act normal, so no one would caught me eavesdropping.

But my heart is beating too fast…

A few minutes later, I heard footsteps.

“Nina.”

It was as if my body went stiff.

One of the guards was standing in front of me.

“The Alpha is calling you.”

I blinked. Me?.

I stood slowly.

My voice was low.  “Are you sure… me?”

The guard didn’t answer again.

“Come.”

Right now, I had no choice, I have to follow him 

Honestly, on my way, I couldn’t stop thinking, what’s going on? What’s happening exactly? 

The guard opened the  door for me to enter, and I stepped in slowly 

I walked in slowly.

The room was full of elders just as predicted. All eyes turned to me at once.

Whispers started immediately.

“That’s her?”

They exchanged glancws

 

I didn’t understand anything anymore, I need him to speak up, to tell them who i am, and that I am not his Luna .

Then Tristan spoke. “This is my Luna.”

What? I looked at him well, to be sure I heard him clearly 

Me? His Luna 

The room went silent for a second, then everything changed.

The elders nodded, some even smiled.

“Good.”

“Then we must set the ceremony.”

“The pack needs stability.”

My stomach dropped. Ceremony.?

What are they talking about?.

I turned to him  quickly.

But he didn’t look at me.

The room became quiet.

The elders eventually left, one after another, until the room was empty

It was just me and him now.

I turned slowly. “What is going on?” I asked softly.

Tristan’s voice was cold. “What’s going on? You saw what was going on”

I blinked.”You just called me your Luna, I am not your Luna”

“For now, you will keep that image.”

My hands tightened.

“Image… ?” I asked, is this some sort of trophy or what?.

He nodded once. “You will act as my Luna for a few days.”

My heart dropped.

“Act?” I shook my head quickly. “No. You told them I am your Luna… Why… How? We barely know each other for days

His expression didn’t change.

Then he said it clearly. “Yeah, it has happened, you were the only person available in the yard I could call. And now that the elders has seen you, you will  be my contract wife for one year.”

My eyes widened. “No…”

My voice shook. “You said I was  a spy… and now you want me as your contract wife? No. This doesn’t make sense.”

I stepped back.

But he stepped forward slightly. “No? And who told you, Nina, that you have a choice! .”

My breath stopped.

“Your only other option is leaving my pack.”

My hands trembled.

Leaving?

I had nowhere to go and he knows that, that was why he was doing this to me

My voice came out small.

“…I agree.”
