LOGINThe air was knocked out of her lungs. Selly’s veins constricted with blood rushing in all directions making her feel drained while she was still alive.
The words he had said to her cut deeper than any other wound she had endured even in the fiercest of battles she had ever partook in. He didn't even bother to give her a chance to explain. To understand. Her hands shook as she managed to master the courage to speak with her lips vibrating against each other. “You must be joking, right?” Unconsciously drawing a long breath, she held her breath, dreading his answer but none came. “I mean you haven't even heard the whole…” “I don't need to listen to the whole story to distinguish facts from bullshit.” Jordan said. He made sure to maintain his distant and aloof demeanor as he crushed the little hope that was left in her with no regard whatsoever. “No!” Selly took a step back, creating space between them and craned her neck as she stared at his back. Panic gripped her mind as the weight of his words slowly penetrated deep into her psyche. This was not how she had imagined the scene to play out. Was this it? Was this her being rejected? “This can not be.” She asked, with a shaky voice, “Why?” her last word flowing like an unintended whisper. Jordan still didn't bother to look at her, feeling forced to talk more than he would personally prefer. The woman was undoubtedly in denial. In contrast to his razor sharp tongue, he calmly explained, “As I have no intentions of repeating myself, LISTEN …CAREFULLY.” “You listen to me.” Interjected Selly, her slightly full lips trembling with uncertainty and confusion. “I have sacrificed a lot for this to be treated with such disrespect. I…“ “There's only one reason as to why you are still standing in one piece - our past.” “And for the same reason, I do not see you as a woman. If anything I think of you as a mother and I don't have such thoughts for someone I consider to be a mother.” “Are you threatening me? “ Asked Selly. She didn't believe that she wasn't just being rejected but threatened as well. “Suit yourself.” Jordan said while his hands fumbled with the blue suit vest buttons. Selly’s shoulders drooped and her countenance fell. Her lips parted but before any words could leave her mouth, she heard him say, “I have found my mate.” “It's in your best interest to stop tailing me because I won't be repeating myself.” Selly’s knees finally gave way and she found herself on the cold hard floor with her hand clutching her chest. “What mate? I am your only ma…” She couldn't finish her sentence. Something was stuck in her throat. An unfamiliar void came to fill her once hopeful self and she opened her mouth a couple of times only to end up closing it. “You're lying.” Her words came out like a whisper and it felt like she was telling herself those words. “Who is she?” As soon as those three words left her mouth, it dawned in her. It was her. How could she have not seen it? All the signs were there, from the way he swallowed hard in her presence to the way his eyes followed her every move. It was all there and she was just so blinded by hope and confidence in their predestined bond. Craning her neck from where she sat, her bloodshot eyes trained on him unblinkingly and she said through clenched teeth, “How could you reject me for someone else's…mate?” Jordan, whose long fingers were busy, halted for a split second before he resumed what he was doing without either confirming or denying it. At that moment Selly knew that she was right. That little hesitation from his initial nonchalance was the only confirmation she needed. She has never felt so stupid in her entire existence nor had she ever anticipated the rejection from someone she had sacrificed so much for. No one had ever disrespected her to such a point. She wasn't just anyone. She was the veil keeper of Agal. Respected and envied by all, she was the most treasured in her world yet she descended into his world, leaving her people on the verge of war just to be rejected on the poorest reasons one could think of - a fake mate. That was unacceptable. She stood up straight and looked at him through the mirror as their eyes locked. Eerily calm, her voice rarely rising, she said, “It seems like you have made your decision.” “And I just made mine.” Before Jordan could fully comprehend the meaning behind her words, he heard sounds of bones snap. He couldn't help but turn around to witness with shock as the once wolfless woman shifted with ease. He merely had time to think as within a few seconds, a massive grey wolf stood before him on all fours. The menacing and murderous intentions weren't concealed behind its beastly form. Unprepared to witness a shift when it wasn't even the full moon yet, Jordan’s survival instincts kicked in and he took a defensive stance. When he heard the wolf snarl dangerously at him, all the hair on his body stood on its end. He was in his human form while Selly was in her wolf… Wait a minute… That was no werewolf. Something was seriously wrong. All this time, everyone has believed Selly was without a wolf or had an impaired one like him with only partial ability but no. She had never shifted in all the years he had known her. How could this happen? Aaaw! Selly’s painful cry echoed through the walls of his home and across the streets as she howled. She took a step towards him, snarling and baring her enormous fangs at him. He was sure that she was going to attack when she leaped out of his room through the door and made her way out of his room. Fuck! This is not good. He thought as he tailed behind Selly, aiming to immobilise her before things got out of hand than they already were. Selly’s paws hit the smooth floor with purpose as she made her way outside the house and into the yard, zeroing in on the massive iron gate through her bloodshot eyes. Halfway through, He caught up to her. He pounced and tackled her, sending them both on the hard paved ground. He held onto the wolf’s neck and struggled to keep her massive form to no avail as Selly was bigger than normal female werewolves he has ever seen hence stronger. As they wrestled and tumbled on the ground, her fangs pierced through his arms and sank deeper into his flesh, sending waves of pain throughout his body until he loosened his grip on her. The Alpha blood in his veins made him suppress the urge to cry out loud and he took the pain as a man. There was something peculiar about her bite. It wasn't supposed to hurt that much, he thought. With a horror-stricken face, he watched as she dashed towards the gate, somehow hoping that the strong iron barrier would prevent or at least slow her down. Clutching his now bleeding arm, he ran to her, ignoring the pain that now spread further away from the wound. Pausing at the locked gate for a few seconds, seemingly in deep thought, she turned and charged back towards him. Jordan halted in his tracks, trying to decipher her sudden change of direction. Sweat trickled down his spine, disappearing somewhere below his waist. He swallowed hard.Months had passed since Lord Flame was defeated. Since the era of darkness finally came to an end. The lives of shifters were starting to feel normal again. Pack leaders were starting to relax again. Single shifters? They were finding their mates without difficulties and overall fertility was slowly rising again. Rogues' activities lessened as not one incident was reported since the last battle. Dolly was back to her parent's house, at Beta Grigor house and she was loving her mother's garden as she embraced her newly found love. She was no longer a nobody. Her former last name was no longer Noman as she was now a Beta’ daughter of one of the strongest packs in Petroit city.Occasionally, she would leave without her mother's notice to hang out and play cards with Dominik. While at it, she would sniff him, mumbling something about him smelling good.“You're taking advantage of me.” Dominik would complain but did nothing to push her away. She didn't really care about what he said or
The following day, the guests departed back to Agal except for Selly and Malachi. Later that day, an envelope with Beta Grigor’s name arrived. He opened it and scanned the content with practiced calm.Aretha stood on his side, waiting, expecting and hoping for good. When the Beta finally lowered the document, his eyes were glassy with unshed tears. He faced Dolly whose heartbeat could be felt by everyone in the living room.Dolly took a shallow breath. It was time for the truth. Her truth. She could tell it from her gut.Everyone had been calling her by her new or more correctly an older name. Freya—it sounded strange to her but rolled with familiarity to everyone else. It was as if they were sure of it but to her, someone who grew up alone, she needed concrete proof. Something she believed in. Something backed by modern science. She dreaded the answer.“The DNA result—” Grigor paused,Dolly blinked.“It's positive.” He dropped the news and Dolly's eyes closed shut.“I am your fath
Alpha Lewis cleared his throat, subconsciously facing his mate, “What is it about Secretary Hugo?” “This is about the emergency meeting you requested.” The secretary said, “I have been trying to contact Alpha Flame since yesterday and I can't get hold of him.” “I believe that we can start without him.” “You don't understand. His phone has been ringing but no one is answering. This is not like him at all. I am worried he might have a problem.” Alpha Lewis carefully urged him to proceed as planned without fully disclosing the reasons before he ended the call. “They are going to have a hard time accepting that Flame was the enemy all along.” Selly commented knowingly. “They have no choice.” Replied Lewis. When the clock struck eight, a series of sleek SUVs moved through the thick forest and out of the Westhund pack territory into the highway. Alpha Lewis led the guests inside the Alpha’s Council hall. In an instant, the murmurs died. The air turned heavy with the different
Malachi groaned, not liking the unwelcomed interruption. He broke the kiss and bit his lower lip as he took in her flushed face. There was a second knock and he reluctantly went to answer the door. Who the hell needed him in the dead of the night? Vernis moved behind the door with her hand on her beating chest. The last thing she wanted was to answer anyone about her presence in Malachi's room. He opened the door halfway and blocked the entrance. “What?” He asked Jordan with a flat tone. Jordan didn't answer and his sharp eyes stared onto his lips and eyes for a second longer. He seemed like he noticed something but decided not to ask. “Someone reported seeing the dragon king leave his room but somehow he is nowhere to be found. Have you seen him?” He asked. Malachi's eyebrow rose as he tried to cover Vernis’ presence with another question. “Dont you think it's too early to leave your mate unattended?” Jordan sighed, neglecting his words. “That man can not be fully trusted.”
The figure stepped into the room before the door locked.“What do you want?” Malachi asked as he switched the bedside lamp on.The figure dropped the cloak casually and draped it over a stand revealing Veryl whose face looked solemn.“Are you still angry?” Veryl asked, his steps slow until he made himself comfortable on a two-sitter sofa.Malachi crossed his arms, his face serious when he said, “You lied to me, what did you expect? That I'd congratulate you for breaking a promise?”“I had no choice.” Veryl replied almost instantly. “We were young and foolish.”Malachi visibly shuddered, “You never meant to keep it from the beginning, did you?”Veryl crossed his legs, his demeanor casual and relaxed, “It's not my fault that I couldn't say goodbye. I really wanted to but time was against me. I hope we can forget the past and…”“There is no going back if that's what you came here for.” Malachi cut in, his tone resembling finality.Veryl sighed then stood up. He hesitated for a second bef
King Veryl's face remained calm, his eyes remaining on Malachi's back as he closed the door behind him. Alpha Lewis felt the tension between them. Everyone felt it. The king of Horizenia seemed to have something personal against the vampire but none dared to ask. Minutes ticked by while they continued drinking and chatting about light topics when Selly and Jordan returned. “Did he fall asleep?” Asked the Priestess as she put her glass on the table. “Yes, Priestess.” Replied Selly. The old woman shook her head in pity, “Poor boy. He will get over it.” Or maybe not, Jordan thought. If there was one thing he wouldn't choose to relive then it was the moment when Selly didn't want anything to do with him anymore. He knew firsthand how hard it was to get over an irreplaceable mate although he wasn't sure how it would really play with Dominik. Aria was, after all, a demon. An impostor. And their bond was fake just like his was to her. “It's a fake bond. He should be able to snap out o

Selly has never felt vulnerable like she did that day. People touching her, petting her. Not one body part was spared as they took whatever measures and samples they needed for their lab test. It was beyond disrespect and all she could was watch as it all unfolded. To them, she was a new kind
