Was she going to attack him?
As he braced himself and assumed his defence stance once again, Selly inched closer only to pass him by. At that moment, Jordan had a series of questions and doubts planted in his mind. As hard as he tried to figure out where she tried to escape to, he only ended up with more of them and not a single answer. Making a u-turn, she charged forward with a speed of lightning. What the fuck! There was no way she was going to do that, was she? As Selly approached the gate by a few meters, her pace tripled and with one decisive move she jumped over the tall and imposing gate. Aah! Jordan heard a piercing cry on the other side of the gate and hurried off to press a switch buried deep in an electrical box. When the gate opened, his eyes searched for a grey wolf but she was no longer in sight and then he heard it again, a girl sniffing as she sobbed. His eyes landed on a little girl who looked no more than six, hiding under a bush of flowers with a bruised knee. Her little body shook and tears flowed unstrained. All the while her tiny white and fluffy pomeranian dog hid behind her shaking like a leaf. Jordan approached the girl and offered his hand which she took promptly. Taking her into his arm, he patted her little back as he coerced her into relaxation. ~ Imposing greyish paws hit the hard sun-kissed tarmac with enthusiasm as Selly ran like a mad stray dog causing both awe and panic. Shrieks could be heard from pedestrians who found themselves face to face with the massive grey wolf. “Who let the dog out without supervision?”, a man shouted only to shut his mouth when the animal passed him by in close proximity. There was no way such a big dog existed. Selly crossed the busy roads of Petroit city leaving horns blowing in her wake. Drivers were forced to hit the brakes, the momentum throwing forward unprepared passengers. With each leap, Selly’s speed only increased, determined to accomplish the only thing that was on her mind. ~ A girl sat in an open air restaurant's verandah with her friend sipping coke while they waited for their order of steak when her nose flared up. “I smell something…weird.” She said Her friend chuckled, brushing her off with a wave of her hand. “It isn't as if you don't smell undetectable and nonexistent scents all the time.” The girl's eyebrows furrowed, “It's getting stronger, the scent.” As soon as those words left her lips, her eyes widened. A bigger than normal ‘dog’? passed in front of the restaurant they were in. She stood from her seat, prompting other clients to follow suit and her eyes followed the grey animal until she could no longer see its wagging tail. Why was the dog's scent so prominent?, she asked herself. Her friend quickly took out the phone from her purse and dialled a number which was received a few rings later. “A larger than normal wolf is causing a ruckus and heading north of the city center as we speak.” Meanwhile Jordan scrambled between the steering wheel and his phone. “Why the fuck aren't you picking up the damn phone?” He spoke through gritted teeth, his hand clutching the wheel until his knuckles turned white. He tried for the fifth time but the recipient's phone kept ringing before it redirected to a voicemail. His luck seemed to have faded off as a few meters away, he had to stop at the city traffic lights. Apparently, a small car had crashed into a truck when the driver was trying to avoid hitting a dog causing blockage in that specific route. Jordan waited for minutes as the men tried to remove the blockage but there was too much at stake for him to sit still. He wasn't even sure what would happen when Selly reached there before him. That was if she really was headed that way. His head kept turning left and right hoping to find her. Restless, he got out of his car and swiftly mingled through the small crowd before he disappeared, leaving the vehicle unattended. “Damn!” He cursed while resting his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. That was the fastest he had ever run in his human form. And now he stood meters away from his destination contemplating whether Selly really came to Dominik's house or else he wouldn't know where to find her. Meanwhile the news tabloids were hot with news of unidentified species of dog causing panic and leading to a car accident that has caused severe physical trauma to the victims. As the clock ticked so were footage of the ‘dog’ increasing on the internet which had led to animal welfare unit to interfere in the matter and were now searching for the dog and the possible owner. ~ “Good gracious, this thing is huge.” A man in uniform, holding a rifle said, trying to aim at Selly in a moving car. “Shut the fuck up and immobilize it already.” Another officer ordered. The man took his shot as Selly kept running ahead of them. “Don't tell me you missed.” his senior asked. Putting down his rifle, he said, “I don't know. It's moving too fast.” “The locator is moving.” Another officer said as he pointed at his laptop screen. The senior patted the shooter on the shoulder and said triumphantly, “Good, now it's only a matter of minutes before we catch it.” As the car trailed behind her, Selly, who had noticed that she was being followed, took a sudden turn to a narrow path between two buildings and disappeared, leaving the animal welfare officials freaking out because the car was too big to pass through. Following her out on foot was out of the equation as the animal showed little to no sign of being affected by the tranquilizer, leaving them no choice but to find another route while tracking her. ~ Two guards stood watch at the gate when their nostrils picked up the scent. “Bitch in heat? ” One of them mused. When the sound of iron being shredded reached their sensitive ears, they only saw a claw between the long gap created from outside before a creaking sound of metal was heard. They quickly jumped, narrowly escaping being crushed by the gate. “Rogue!” shouted the other guard as he watched the grey wolf standing on all four, menacingly challenging them as she took measured steps into the yard. The men upon noticing that what was in front of them was no ordinary wolf, turned on their heels shouting for help. That was not to say they were weak but they knew for a fact that something was really wrong for them to be attacked in the middle of a city. They ran as fast as their legs could manage towards the house entrance with Selly hot on their tail. Inside one of the beautifully decorated rooms, a large painting of two front-teeth-missing little boys hang slightly above the black mahogany bed headrest. A navy blue tailor-made coat hung on a stand. Sweet voices laced with bodily desires filled the room as a man in a navy blue suit vest hovered above a blonde, kissing her as she giggled. Her dainty hands rounded his strong neck, pulling him to her as she reciprocated the kiss with passion. Bang! Startled by the sudden interference, the man gingerly paused while the woman loosened her grip. “What was that?” She asked as she tried to catch her breath and calm down from her high. “I will go check.” He stood up, straightened the creases on his trouser that did nothing to hide his arousal as the woman lay on her back, watching him with puppy eyes. Glancing down at her, a smile made way to his chiseled face, his cheeks dipping as it widened. He was certain that her smile was the sweetest he had ever seen on any woman. Such a delicate, sweet and beautiful woman was his and his alone for all eternity. Even though he wished to continue what they were doing just now or even go a step further, he forced himself, curious about the source of that disturbance. The guards' frantic voices drawed Dominik from his room and behind him a slightly tall, slender blonde trailed cautiously. He quickly descended a flight of stairs as his face darkened even more. His long strides paused when the hinges of his hard-wood door creaked and screws flew out, an obvious sign that someone was forcing their way in. His eyes hardened as he focused his attention at that door that now shook with force. When the door finally gave in and fell with a thud, a werewolf stood on the other side, its aura commanding and its scent heightened by the deep emotions that swirled on its amber orbs. The murderous intentions were clear but Dominik wasn't sure if he was judging the situation right. Why did it feel like the werewolf's attention was directed at his mate?Selly’s touch was sending him to heaven and back. He swore sanity was leaving him by the second. She was relentless. Merciless.“Help me.” She begged between kisses. The words hardly registered in Jordan's mind and he opened his eyes to meet her sultry amber ones.“I will.” He said as his lips clashed against her pink ones, savoring her taste as Selly reciprocated with greed.Parting her lips slightly, Jordan used the opportunity to explore her cavity, moaning at every crevice and contours. He couldn't help, Jordan was a moaner. Not stingy with appreciation when it was due. As much as he would have preferred their first time to be special, with flowers in bed and a candle at the side, he didn't have time for that. His mate needed him.Selly couldn't wait. The ever consuming fire she felt would only be quenched by his touch.Although it sounded overboard, she could actually die from trying to abstain. The pain she had felt was excruciating, her body couldn't withstand it. Prolongin
Jordan didn't waste, quickly he laid her flat on the ground as the heel of his palm sat on top of the other and started compressing her chest in hope to revive her weak pulse.“One, two, three…” He counted a couple more and bent down. Tilting her head, he pinched her nose ready to give her a breath when all of a sudden, Selly coughed. Immediately, he closed his eyes as Selly threw up on him in one big splash. Jordan didn't move his face away as he got frozen in the mess while Selly continued to cough out the liquid in her lungs.Opening his eyes, he wiped his face as a sigh of relief escaped him. Thank Goddess! Immediately, he pulled her into a tight hug. That was a close call, he thought. His hand settled gently and rubbed her back. He was so scared that something major happened to her. For once he tasted the feeling of really losing her.A little late and he could not have found her in the river. A single mistake and he would remain mateless forever. Now he knew just how she m
“You don't seem to know.” She concluded after a prolonged silence.Jordan swallowed hard, “Well, I do know that your name is Selly or Ponds.”It was a half truth. He wasn't proud of himself for it but chose to test the waters first. If she really didn't remember, he would use the time to treat her better and earn a possible forgiveness. “Selly…” She tested her name aloud. “Sounds weird.” She said, “Your name is rather beautiful.”Selly smiled, “You think so.”“Not very common. It suits you perfectly.”“Well,” She said but didn't know how to proceed. The compliment had gotten to her head and she couldn't help but smile even wider.“Why not tell me more about yourself and maybe a little about me.” She changed the topic, too afraid to venture into the world of flattery.Jordan didn't hesitate to narrate their history as they continued walking to the pond. Of course he only told her basic stuff and omitted the parts about them being mates and him having rejected her.“Wow!” Selly was a
So, her parents weren't from that desolate place, he deduced from her silence. She had asked him out whether he also couldn't remember who he was, did that mean that he was supposed to forget his past? And if that were true, what did it mean to both Selly and himself? An old realization hit him again for the umpteenth time, they were both tricked into whatever the trap was, Jordan thought, unaware of the fact that Selly was kidnapped and brought to the forest without her consent while he was simply lured into it out of desperation. She was close to teleporting back to Erichon when those people caused an accident and the van flipped.“So Ponds” Jordan called her by her new name, something he noticed made Selly more receptive and less guarded, "are you the only one who lives in these parts of the forest?” As much as he wanted not to ask, curiosity was eating him.“ Why do you ask?” He hated to admit it but he was jealous. Envious of the other man's access to his woman.“Just curious.”
Selly was suspicious of the stranger in her cottage's intentions. First he invited himself, made himself comfortable and now he was talking about food. What was he trying to do by doing all of those favors? Why was he acting to care as if they were familiar? Was all those sweet words necessary, really? Was all those sugary words just so he could stay? “Can you stay alone for a while as I go find something for you?” He asked. Deep down he didn't want to leave her behind. What if he came back to find she had disappeared again? Then there was a matter of her being sick coupled with the fact that since he arrived the day before, he could smell another person on her. The scent he knew he didn't like was all over her and from the way it repulsed him, he knew it might belong to another man. Just the thought of it wanted to drive him insane. Did she meet another person already? Was his replacement found so quickly? Was the man the person she had been staying with? Was he the
Jordan waited for Selly to say what she thought her name was because apparently him using the same name he mentioned during when he was rejecting her, left a bitter taste.“My name?”“Yes.” He waited. In his mind, she was playing games and he was willing to wait until she was ready for the conversation. “Well, I do have a name.” She lied.Technically she had one but she just couldn't remember it. Now there was a possibility that her name was actually Selly but she couldn't just trust a stranger. The gears in her mind shifted, finding a name she could come up with but even that ended up being hard, picking a name at random.“Selly,” He bit his lower lip, not knowing what to say.“Ponds.” She blurted the first thing that came to mind.Jordan's pupil widened ever so slightly, what kind of name was that?“My parents named me Ponds.” Another lie. Keepers of the supernatural realm were never born. They never had a history or something called a lineage. They were chosen by the Goddess her
