Selina's POV.

I woke up the next morning feeling a lot more energetic. The flashback of my encounter with Chloe slipped into my head fuelling my excitement. There was no way I'd let her step on me ever again. I never allowed it happen from the onset anyway.

And her threat meant absolutely nothing to me, not when I was leaving in a few days. All I need to do is get my mission here accomplished and return to my home. The Blackwoods pack. And to my ever loving Declan. I wondered what his condition would be right now. He will certainly be lying somewhere, sulking at the disappearance of both the kids and I. I couldn't wait to be done here and return to him with our kids.

I laid on the bed for several minutes trying to put myself together before heading out. I needed as much strength as I could get to go about the days activities. The pack members were still startled to see me and dealing with that will require a lot of energy.

I would have preferred to stay in the whole day, laying on my

Selina's POV.I took a step away from him, stopping him from coming closer with a wave of my hand in the air."Let's not do this Malik." I breathed out."Selina please...""I think I need to retire for the night now, it's been a long day." I quickly cut him off, trying to avert the situation. It was getting beyond my capacity and if I let it continue, he might get to me. I found it extremely frustrating how he still managed to have such effect on me despite our mate bond being broken. This wasn't what I expected, and definitely not what I was here for, I needed to remind myself that I was on a mission. A really complicated one that required my full focus. Any mistake made will cost me greatly. "I know it's a lot to take in, and you just got here, I'm really sorry for the rush, I just couldn't help it, I've waited for this opportunity for years," he blurted."I will give you as much time as needed to think about it, there will be no more pressure from me.""I'll appreciate that." I

Selina's POV.I watched with my heart beating uncontrollably against my chest as he raised the glass to his lips.Just then, a loud knock came on the door.Oh fuck!I cursed under my breath as the knock on the door intensified. "Who could that be?" Malik mumbled dropping the glass back to the table and headed towards the door. "That was close," I exhaled a deep breath and trailed behind him toward the door. Whoever was at the door seemed really furious. "Is it true?" I suddenly heard a strikingly familiar voice roar angrily. I hastened my steps towards the door to see who the voice belonged to, only to come face to face with my most dreaded enemy. Chloe. The one who bore the highest witness against me. I stood rooted in my track as my gaze lingered on her, she was still as pretty as I knew her, though a lot more mature now.She was quiet for a while as if trying to digest what she just walked into."Oh, so it's really true? You are back to the pack, I thought you were dead?" She f

Selina's POV. I watched as he continued blurting words of apology, but the whole time, I had a different thought running through my head. All I could think of was the fastest way to get this over and done with. It wasn't long before a perfect opportunity presented itself. He offered to go somewhere private. That was exactly what I needed. However, a huge threat still posed before me. How do I get it done even in a private place? There was no way I could use the Wolf Bane's blade that the strange man had given to me, on him while he was still conscious, Malik still remained the strongest Alpha wolf in existence, I needed to be extra smart. Then it suddenly struck me, Luna Drusilla's active poison could do the job perfectly. "If you want to talk, meet me at my house, that is if it wasn't demolished together with my banishment" I spat and walked away. It really took a whole amount of strength to get the words out of my throat. The last thing I wanted was to kill Malik, despite

Malik's POV.I took a step backward, overcome with the sudden turn of events. It felt surreal to me. I couldn't believe the only woman that I had craved to set my eyes on for the longest time was really standing right before me, looking as charming as ever.I knew she wasn't dead. I always had the feeling that she was alive somewhere. The noises were beginning to die off now, as the people who weren't too scared to join the others running away watched us keenly. "Selina?" My voice came out in a whisper, I could barely hear myself. I braced up and took a step towards her, I was determined to make sure it was really her. She stood still, her gaze on me never quivered. She looked equally amazed as I was, I could tell from the way her body trembled slightly. She had complex expressions on her face and I couldn't read meaning to them. I could only fathom the shock and nervousness in her eyes.I closed the space between us, my hands slowly reached to grab her arm gently, trying to be sure

Malik's POV.I stepped out of my room, tugging at the sleeve of my shirt while my mind whirred through the list of things I had to address today, more equipments for the new warriors intakes, supply shortages in different different quarters of the pack. Just the usual chaos of a day. But just as I took two strides down the hallway, I heard the unmistakable giggle of the only person in this entire world who has been my motivation through the past years. The will to wake up everyday and desire to be alive.Annabelle.“Daddy!”Her small body slammed into my legs before I could react, her tiny arms wrapping tightly around my waist. I couldn't hold back my laughter as I scooped her up with ease, her curls brushing my chin as she giggled into my neck.“Annabelle,” I murmured, holding her close as she buried her face in my shoulder. “You almost knocked me off my feet, little wolf.”She giggled, that sweet, wild laugh that always, no matter what mood I was in managed to melt the worst of it.

Selina's POV.Declan walked beside me, silent, his presence was peaceful, yet unable to quiet the storm inside me.I clenched my fingers around the thin fabric of my shirt and forced my chin higher. But it didn’t stop the thundering of my heart. It didn’t stop the shaking in my knees or the tightness in my chest.I was scared.God, I was terrified. No matter how much I tried to rationalize it, to act like I was okay, the truth was clawing its way out from inside of me. I was walking toward my past... toward Malik. The mate I had loved. The man who had once made my heart dance with just a glance. The same man who had nearly destroyed me.And I hated that even now, despite everything, I didn’t know what I would feel when I saw him again.Would my chest ache for him? Would I break? Would I run?I didn’t know. And not knowing scared me even more.“Selina,” Declan’s voice broke through the noise in my mind. His fingers reached out and brushed against mine, then gently wrapped around them

Selina's POV.I stirred on the bed, rolling from one point to the other, different thoughts running through my head.Declan was nowhere to be found, and I was worried. Since last night when he was stabbed and dragged away, I haven't caught a sight of him, what do they want with him too? I mean they only need to hold my kids captive so I can dance to their tunes, there's no need keeping him with them too. I really need him right now, my head is in a hassle and him missing is making things worse. My mind suddenly drifted to my kids and a low whimper fled my mouth.I couldn't stop wondering what faith they could be suffering now in the hands of the strange man.Are they locked up in a prison, left for cold to blow their lives away? Could they be crying right now, seeking for their parents?I couldn't imagine the fright freezing them up right now, being away from Declan and I. Ethan and Eva don't in any way deserve this. There's no way I was going to let them remain in that devil's t

Declan's POV.My eyelids were heavy… too heavy. It was like I was trying to rise from beneath a thick, suffocating fog. My limbs refused to cooperate at first. I didn’t know how long I’d been unconscious, only that my body ached in places I didn’t even know could ache, but I forced my eyes open eventually. And there she was.Sitting in the far corner of the room, legs crossed, her eyes fixed on me with a disturbing calmness. My mother. The surge of fury that rushed through me was unlike anything I’d ever felt before. My heartbeat roared in my ears. She was the reason Selina and the kids were gone. She was the reason I’d been stabbed and dragged away like an animal in my own pack, unable to protect the very people I’d sworn with my life to shield.“You,” I growled, angrily. “What the hell have you done with Selina and the kids?”Her lips curled into a smile, a cruel, mocking smile that I’d known all my life.“I see you’re awake,” she said lightly, as if I’d just returned from a nap and
