Only a select or lucky few could shift in that form. Like the lycans or the high breeds in the hierarchy. Even some of the most powerful wolves in the hierarchy couldn’t shift half form. And before me stood one of them with his eyes zeroed on me. It’s chest puffing and huffing through its nose. I could feel the power oozing off him.

My gaze travelled behind him, and my hand flew to slap my mouth in pure horror and disbelief. Behind the big wolf were the limbs and the remains of the rogues. They were scattered everywhere as if they were dandelions across the ground. When I returned my gaze to the creature and another gasp left my mouth.

This time around, before me, stood a man. The most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen in my life. My eyes started from his slim waist to his well-packed abs. I was looking at a body that one spent years training to build. He had muscles in every right places. A neck that had veins popping and his Adam's apple going up and down when he swallowed. A face so perfectly shaped you’d think he was sculptured. Then my eyes connected with his, and the whole world disappeared around us. It was so hard to look anywhere else when my body demanded to keep all of our attention on him.

Only our breath filled the place. My wolf groaned in approval because it was at that moment both me and the man realized what was going on between us. New bonds were getting formed. I could feel it deep inside me. The man before me was my new mate. I was given a second chance by the Moon Goddess. I could see my eyes glowing as they mirrored his gold ones.

“Mate.” We both uttered at the same time. Both smiling.

And then as quick as my happiness came…it vanished. I looked at myself and then at the man standing before me. A scoff left me. What was I thinking? There was no way this unbelievably good-looking man would ever accept me as his mate. I had an experience before with a good-looking man. And this one, just by a single glance, I knew he was so out of my league.

“It’s okay. You can reject me. I won’t force you to accept me.” I said to him in all honesty. I wasn’t going to pester him. At this rate, I was ready to live the rest of my life without a mate. He frowned, taking in my full form, and I couldn’t help but feel conscious under his thorough scrutiny.

Then he shook his head. “Why should I reject you?” He asked, making me freeze in place. What the fuck did he just say? I was too shocked to even speak. Speechless. He took a step toward me, and the gap between us disappeared. He held my chin and raised my face to look up at him. I blinked, swallowing. “I won’t reject you, sweetheart. Because I see you, the real you. And you have no idea how long I had to wait for you. I’ll be damned if you think I’m giving you up.” He rubbed my cheek with his thumb. Tears filled my eyes.

“You are mine. My long-awaited mate and my only Luna,” I blinked at his words and let the tears have their way. He stood beside me and wrapped his strong hand around my shoulder. I watched him turn to a group of men. The men that I didn’t even know were around this whole time. “Everyone!” He called out. I held my breath as I waited for his next words. “This is your Luna, and you will treat her as such!”

A whimper escaped my lips, and his grip tightened around me. “Sweetheart, are you alright?” I looked at him through my blurred vision, my heart tightening, and fell unconscious in his arms.
