I gripped my duffel bag and tried my best not to stumble and fall as I ran across the forest. I only stopped when I was standing outside of the Maplewood pack border. I was panting and breathing like there was no tomorrow. Sweat dripped all over my body and my legs were sore and bruised with thorns and stones that it came across while running.

I stood there waiting, and no sooner did a loud blast broke out back at the place I was running from. Then a siren started to wail. A painful smile stretched my lips. Duke mightv’e succeeded in wiping my existence in his life but I also needed to wipe the pain that he gave me before I left.

Earlier when I was done packing, I ran into Lupa. Who went ahead and mocked me further as if we weren’t friends since school. I was going to silently leave but what she did made me crave revenge. So while they all left the pack house to head to their daily routine activities, I went through Duke’s armory, the room in the basement where he stored his arms and other equipment.

I was only a mere herbalist and the forest was my comfort place but I knew what a bomb looked like and what I needed to do to detonate it. I took a handful of them and walked back to the same room that caused me pain. I then placed them on the same bed that he found his pleasure before fleeing away.

I watched as the pack house burnt down with a raging fire. The same fire that was raging deep inside my broken heart. I didn’t try to wipe my tears anymore and just let them stream out.

I was about to take a step and get the hell out of there because it was the only way I was going to survive now when a group of wolves surrounded me. I stopped breathing and my heart slammed in my chest. They were rogues! All of them. And I knew this beauce they were black and their red eyes glowed as they pinned me down with them. I was fucked up.

There was no way I was going to take out four rogues. I would die if even one of them decided to attack me. I was no match to them. I wasn’t trained to fight because nobody wanted to train me. Nobody wanted to waste their energy on a big fat nobody. I took a careful step back and the wolves moved toward me.

I’m an orphan but I vividly remember how my family used to love me and treat me like a gem. I wished my mom and dad were alive today. They were the first and last people to show me that nothing was wrong with me. That I didn’t need all the herbs that I was taking so as to lose weight and become appealing in the eyes of other people.

Maybe this was how I was going to die. Today was my last day on earth but at least my lifetime pain was going to end as well. The wolves started to run at me. Instead of doing anything to save myself, I shut my eyes and tears rolled down my cheeks as I waited for my death. I could hear them nearing as the ground beneath me shook. I fisted my hands hard at my sides. Mom, Dad, I’m finally going to rest. We are finally going to unite again.

A ground shaking roar pierced through the night, making me flinch and tremble. The roars made my skin hair stand and my wolf cowering, just like me. Whatever it… it was around me. Another roar came followed with snapping of limbs and painful wailing and howling that made my heart pound even harder inside my chest. It went on for another round before everything went dead silent. My whole body was shaking at this point because I knew I was next.

I was panting as if I was in a marathon and then I managed the courage to open my eyes and look. I had to crane my neck to take in his whole feature. Before me stood a couple feet tall brown wolf. What made me shake even harder was the form he was in. From his waist to his head he was in his wolf form. Big, broad and intimidating with its golden eyes and sharp fangs that glinted in the dark. And from his waist to his feet were legs, human legs. The beast wasn’t moving at all. I stagggered back gasping in horror.

I’d only heard the myth about wolves like him. Not all wolves have the ability to shift half wolf half human like that.
