Minsi gripped her duffel bag. She tried her best not to stumble and fall as she ran across the forest. She only stopped when she was standing outside the Maplewood pack border. She was panting and breathing like there was no tomorrow. Sweat dripped all over her body, and her legs were sore and bruised with thorns and stones that she came across while running.
She stood there waiting, and no sooner did a loud blast break out back at the place she was running from. Then a siren started to wail. A painful smile stretched her lips. Duke might’ve succeeded in wiping her existence in his pack, but she also needed to wipe the pain that he heartlessly gave her before she left.
Earlier, when she was done packing, she ran into Lupa. Who went ahead and mocked her further as if they weren’t friends since school. Minsi was going to silently leave, but what Lupa did to her made her crave revenge. So while they all left the pack house to head to their daily routine activities, Minsi went through Duke’s armory. The room in the basement where he stored his arms and other equipment.
She was only a mere herbalist, and the forest was her comfort place, but she knew what a bomb looked like and what she needed to do to detonate it. She took a handful of them and walked back to the same room that caused her so much pain just a few hours ago. She then placed them on the same bed that he had found his pleasure before fleeing away.
Minsi watched as the pack house burnt down with a raging fire and crumbled into ashes. The same fire that was raging deep inside her broken heart. She didn’t try to wipe her tears anymore and just let them stream out.
She was about to take a step and get the hell out of there because it was the only way she was going to survive now, when suddenly a group of wolves surrounded her. She stopped breathing, and her heart slammed hard in her chest. They were rogues. All of them. And she knew this because they were black and their red eyes glowed as they pinned her down with them. She knew she was fucked up.
There was no way she could take out four rogues. She would die if even one of them decided to attack her. She was no match for them. Minsi wasn’t trained to fight because nobody wanted to train her. Nobody wanted to waste their energy on a big fat nobody. She took a careful step back, and the wolves moved toward her as well.
Minsi was an orphan, but she vividly remembers how her family used to love her and treat her like a gem. She wished her mom and dad were alive today. They were the first and last people to show her that nothing was wrong with her body. That she didn’t need all the herbs that she was taking night and day to lose weight and become appealing in the eyes of other people.
Maybe this was how I was going to die. Today was my last day on earth, but at least my lifetime pain was going to end as well. Minsi thought with a grim heart. The wolves started to run at her. Instead of doing anything to save herself, she shut her eyes, and tears rolled down her cheeks as she waited for her death. She could hear them nearing, and the ground beneath her shook. She fisted her hands hard at her sides and murmured. “Mom, Dad, I’m finally going to rest. We are finally going to unite again.”
A ground-shaking roar pierced through the night, making her flinch and tremble. The roars made her skin hair stand, and her wolf cowered, just like her. Whatever it… It was around her. Another roar came, followed by snapping of limbs and painful wailing and howling that made her heart pound even harder inside her chest. It went on for another round before everything went dead silent. Her whole body was shaking at this point because she knew she was next.
She was panting as if she were in a marathon, and then she managed the courage to open her eyes and take a look. She had to crane her neck to take in the whole features of the creature. Before her stood a couple of feet tall brown wolf. What made her shake even harder was the form he was in. From his waist to his head, he was in his wolf form. Big, broad, and intimidating with its golden eyes and sharp fangs that glinted in the dark. And from his waist to his feet were legs, human legs. The beast wasn’t moving. Minsi staggered back, gasping in horror.
She’d heard the myth about wolves like him. Not all wolves have the ability to shift half wolf, half human. Only a select or lucky few could. Like the Lycans or the high breeds in the hierarchy. Even some of the most powerful wolves in the hierarchy couldn’t shift half form. And before her stood one of them with his eyes zeroed on her. It’s chest puffing and huffing through its nose. She could feel the power oozing off him.
~19~It’s been three days since their union was made. Three days of utter bliss in the company of the love of her life. Minsi never thought it was ever going to happen. And sometimes she thought it was too quick. Because she is already immensely in love with her mate. So much so that even the thought of spending a day without her made her heart ache. When he left for work, she was left daydreaming about him. She saw him everywhere, which made her laugh at herself. Accepting that Ace has finally turned her into a madwoman. She was losing her mind, and she wasn’t even complaining. His sweet and encouraging words. His care for her. The undivided attention that he gives to her. No matter how busy he was, he would put down everything and listen to her. While at work, he would call every passing hour to ask how she was doing or if there was anything she needed. A deliveryman was sending her a bouquet of roses every day as per her husband’s order. And even when she knew how to cook, thanks
~18~“Come on now. Don’t be upset, sweetheart.” He coaxed her by pulling her closer to himself, even when she was resisting him. “Leave me alone,” she pouted, as if she wasn’t enjoying being spooned by him. “I’ll make it up to you.” He announced. This piqued her attention, so she flipped around to face him again, “How?” Ace held the back of his head, holding eye contact with her, “Like this,” he then leaned closer and captured her lips. Slow strokes of their lips filled the room, sucking upper and lower in turn. It made her mind stop, and her stomach filled with butterflies. Forgetting why she was upset with him in the first place. She couldn’t even remember her own name if you asked her at that moment. Her body moved, and she sat on top of him, straddling him in the middle, lips still locked. He brushed her hair off her face while she lowered herself down and deepened their kiss, sucking his tongue as if it was the sweetest thing she’d ever tasted. Her hands were tracing his chest w
~17~Minsi’s eyes slowly cracked open, adjusting to the morning light—a ghost of a smile formed on her lips. The room was exactly how she imagined a room for a man like him would be. Dark grey walls, white ceilings and curtains, with only a subtle amount of modern furniture and decor. There was a glass door that she was sure led to his closet. Another door to the bathroom, and another, which was a double door, revealed a balcony. Clean, classic, and masculine, or in simple language…Ace. When she felt a heavy hand surrounding her waist, her smile stretched further on her lips. And then the heat started to rise on her cheeks. She was a little bit sore from their continuous activities. Last night was the best night of her life. She couldn’t believe that this was her fate now. But then she was also claiming it. Because without any doubt, this was her life now. The two of them had the wildest night. The man had such high stamina, and she was sex deprived for a while. So both of them quenc
~16~“I won’t. But I need you to understand something, sweetheart. I don’t do it sweetly. I’m–uh–a little bit rough.” He rubbed the back of his head, his ear turning red. Minsi raised her brow with a grin on her lips, “Just a little, you said?” He shook his head, “Actually, very rough.” She laughed, burying her face in his chest at his blunt confession. “So?” He asked, rubbing her collarbone. She looked up at him, mischief glinting in her eyes, “Take me, Ace. Roughly.” A shudder rumbled on his chest, “Fuck. You looked so sexy saying that.” He said, pushing himself away from her, and started to shed his clothes slowly and drop them on the floor. Meanwhile, she leaned back on the wall, waiting, ogling, biting her lip, eyes never leaving him. She was getting impatient by the second, but she was glad he wasn’t rushing it. The sight before her was worth it. Broad shoulders with a toned chest, defined abs that made her fingers itch to trace them. His slim waist and Oh. A silent gasp left h
~15~Ace gathered her up in the same position, opened the car door, and kicked it shut once he was standing outside. He strode inside while her lips were busy on his neck. Sucking, biting, kissing. His entire body was on fire. A fire that needed to be put out. And she was the only one with the power to. He took three stairs at a time, pressing her ass all the way. Instead of taking her to her room, he kicked the door of his room. Minsi was placed on her feet. She didn’t even get the chance to admire the room when her body was pressed against the wall. Leaving her back to him. Ace lifted her hands and pinned them above her head. She let out a shudder when his hands traced the curves of her body. “You have no idea how bewitching this body is, baby.” He grabbed her ass and squeezed it, “How amazing and right it feels in my hands.” Minsi let out a moan. “Then show me how.” She couldn’t wait anymore. She wanted him. All of him. Buried deep inside her. His skin pressed with hers. Ace presse
~14~Right after the union formalities ended, a ceremony followed. It was then that Minsi was introduced to almost everyone in the hall. There were a lot of people. Ace told her the attendees were only half of the people of the Mistwood pack and that she should prepare to meet with more people in the near future. For what’s worth, Minsi wasn’t nervous or scared anymore. It’s like something has switched for good inside her the moment she got united with Ace. She could feel a strong confidence swirling deep inside her. It’s like magic how things have suddenly switched for her. And she loved every second of it. This was her home, her people, and her family. And she would do whatever it takes to keep it that way till the day she dies. “Now, I understand why he is so whipped. Look at how glued he is to her. Minsi, you are one beautiful woman.” Wade spoke, sipping his wine, while holding Stephanie's hair with his free hand, so that it wouldn’t interfere with her. “Thank you,” Minsi said, h
