Rune’s POV

A few weeks later.

“Steady, steady,” I told Asher as I held his hand. He was aiming his bow at a deer feeding on grass from a distance. I was surprised that it hadn’t seen us until now.

The morning sun shone above us, catching the trees and the grass around us. The warm air whistled past us, and the birds chirped above us. It was a beautiful day to be outside, and I was sure that Asher would concur.

“I’m not sure I can keep this up for long, Rune,” Asher said, the frustration in his voice vivid.

“Patience, Asher,” I urged. “You can’t do everything with force.”

Asher sighed and let go of the bow. He turned to me, his face displaying his discomfort.

“I got a cramp for holding it out too long,” he said.

I sighed and gave him a disapproving look. Day by day he was getting more and more impatient. I didn’t know what was going on, but I didn’t like it. Maybe it was the growth of his powers. I wasn’t sure that a five-year-old would understand the word “arrogance” but he was

Aurelia’s POVThe Delta guards lifted Rune from the ground and rushed him into the mansion. Luckily for him, there was a small room which was used as a treatment room. I was going to heal him there. I turned to Asher who was crying with his hands on his face and rushed over to him. “What happened, Asher?” I asked, holding his shoulders. He was sobbing, wiping his cheeks making it hard for him to speak. By the time he found his voice, it would be too late for Rune. I have to move now. “Well two about this later,” I said, letting go of him, but then he grabbed my hand, turning me to face him. I was surprised by this. His tears had stopped and his face had hardened. “It’s all my fault,” Asher said, his voice still plagued with tears. I furrowed my brows trying to understand what he meant. “What happened, Asher?” I asked. “You can tell me.”Since there'd been tension between the two of them, I’d told Rune to spend some time with Asher to reconcile the bond that seemed to be fading.

Rune’s POVIt felt like a thousand chapel bells ringing in my ears as I regained consciousness. I groaned slowly as I opened my eyes and I found myself still lying against the steering wheel. There was smoke coming out from the bonnet before me, and the windshield had been shattered into a thousand pieces, lying on the dashboard. The metallic tang of blood filled the air and I guessed it came from me. My head throbbed in pain and my body ached in resonance. I groaned once more as I leaned off the dashboard, sitting back in the chair. How long had I been out? I couldn’t tell. But the boulder that I’d run into was no longer there. That was impossible. If it wasn’t there at all, then what had I run into? There was no time for me to think of that. And my head throbbed each time I thought about it. This was an attack on me. That was all I could tell. I'd like to get back to the mansion. If they were trying to take me out first before they went to Aurelia, then I wasn’t going to let that h

Rune’s POVShe was seated by her dresser combing her hair neatly with her black night gown on. Her long auburn hair and her skin shone in the fluorescent lights making her look astonishing. My wolf stirred in excitement as we watched her. I didn’t want this moment to end, but then I couldn’t tell her that she was my mate. I didn’t understand why she hadn’t spoken about it either. Maybe she was ignoring the bond, or she didn’t feel it at all. I couldn’t tell. But that was reason enough for me to keep my mouth shut for now. I knocked on the door gently and she turned to me. I gave her a warm smile but she looked away almost immediately. I gulped hard. That didn’t go as I’d planned. She looked irked by my presence. That was understandable because of what I’d done. I couldn’t tell her who was after me, because I didn’t know. I’d thought that they’d been after her, but after that message I’d gotten from the maid, I was wrong. I was the one they were after. It was confusing to me what th

Kael’s POVI slammed my fist on the wall in rage and it trembled beneath me. This couldn’t be happening. Maybe I was going about it wrongly. How had I been able to mess things up? Aurelia had caught me, and I was sure she wasn’t going to dare let me see Asher again. My plan had been messed up. What was I going to do?I ran my fingers through my hair pacing the study wondering what my next move should be. There was no next move. I was stuck. There was only one way to get Asher to me, and that was stealing him. But I couldn’t do that. What was the point of bringing him in forcefully? He wasn’t going to enjoy his stay here. I wanted him to come of his own accord. He was my heir. The heir to the great Lycan pack, the Silver Fang. If I wanted him to be mine, I would have to follow some procedures. But that was going to take more time than expected. A soft knock came on the door and before I could demand who it was, it creaked open and Ethan stepped into the room. His hair was disheveled

Aurelia’s POV“Alpha!” The female voice shrieked from outside. It snapped me out of my thoughts, and I realized that Rune and I were in the burning house. I turned around and rushed out of the house without saying a word to him only to be confronted by men in the shadows who were grabbing onto the woman and her kids. I clenched my jaw and balled my hands into fists. This couldn’t be happening. I’d thought that the fire outbreak was just something ordinary, but now I could see that it was from them. The people that Rune had been looking for. Rune stepped in beside me analyzing the situation. The room was trembling in fear and I could tell that it was for her kids. “Let them go,” I ordered. “It’s me you’re after.”The men didn’t move. They still had them captive which made my chest burn in rage. I was going to make them pay. “Please Alpha! Save my children,” the woman begged. Before I could act, Rune moved past me heading towards the men who were clutching the kids. He slammed his
