MY FATED MATE CAME FOR ME

“Because I was afraid”, Seraphina responded with tears in her eyes.

“Afraid of father or who?” I glared at her and snapped.

She lowered her head then she responded in a barely audible voice, “I was scared of everyone and I didn’t want to lose Rowan too”.

I glared at her and I saw tears run down from her cheeks, but I still looked unbothered because I knew she was pretending.

She wiped her tears and continued, “I wanted to become the queen, so I’ll have enough powers to protect myself, but I realized that I was wrong”.

“You always choose yourself every time”, I yelled while my knees became very weak.

“I know”, she sobbed.

For the first time, she didn’t give any excuses for her actions. Meanwhile, Magnus just stood still staring at us carefully, then he asked a very important question, “So what brought you here?”

Seraphina raised her head, her expression became cold and she looked towards him to snap, “because the king gave an order for you to be killed”.

“Yes I know and he already tried to”, Magnus grinned. He didn’t even flinch when she said it, instead he looked around and smiled.

Seraphina shook her head slowly, and chuckled softly, “that attack was just the beginning of what is about to happen. Besides that, the assassins were sent to test Lyra to know if her wolf is awake”.

“Test Lyra?” Magnus asked in a dangerous tone, meanwhile he was already looking furious.

“Yes, and now they’ve known the truth,” she grinned.

I felt cold seeping through my body, and I froze for a few seconds.

“So what’s the next thing?” Magnus asked curiously.

“They’re coming for her, this time around it’s not going to be three or four assassins, it's a group of army”, she looked towards me and responded.

I already looked frightened, before I heard a voice inside me whisper “don’t be scared”, and I straightened my look immediately.

“Let them come then”, Magnus responded and I turned to look at him, he looked so unbothered.

She flinched the moment Magnus muttered those words, then she explained again “I don’t think you understood what I said, the king made an agreement with three northern packs to attack Blackthorne fortress”.

“Let them come and die”, Magnus' expression still remained calm and unshaken.

She stared at him furiously and snapped, “you’re really insane”.

He chuckled softly and said, “yes I know”.

I managed to fake a smile despite the tension that gripped me, while Seraphina put her hand inside her cloak as if she wanted to bring out something.

Magnus drew his sword immediately, including all the warriors, then she slowly brought out a silver necklace. I stared at it for a few seconds, and my pulse hitched because I have seen it before in my mother’s old room.

“Where did you get it from?” I asked curiously.

She walked towards me and whispered, “it belonged to mother”.

“Give it to me”, I reached for her hand to snatch it from her but she pulled it away before she gave it to me again.

The moment I touched the necklace, a silver light exploded from my palm and everyone around me stepped backwards. The silver necklace floated above my hand, a strange symbol appeared in the air, and it was a crescent moon surrounded by a silver wolf.

Magnus stared at it carefully, like he was trying to find something inside it and he noticed that it was the same symbol from the pendant Karl found on one of the assassins.

Suddenly, the necklace became very hot and I gasped before I heard a voice echoing “find the temple” inside my mind.

My eyes widened in shock and I demanded, “what temple?”

“The temple of the moon Goddess”, the voice echoed again then the silver light disappeared.

The silver necklace fell into my hands, and I stared at it for a few seconds while my breathing became heavy.

Magnus rushed towards me and inquired, “did you hear anything?”

I turned towards him and nodded, “I heard a voice echoing in my mind and she told me to find the moon Goddess temple”.

Seraphina’s face darkened and it looked so pale, then she gasped “that’s not possible”.

Magnus looked very confused and he probed, “why?”

Seraphina took a step backwards before she interrupted, “it’s because the temple was sealed twenty years ago and no one has entered there since mother disappeared from there”.

“Then I need to go and find where it’s at”, I snapped while my eyes were still fixed on the silver necklace.

Magnus shook his head slowly and responded slowly “no, you don’t have to”.

“Why?” I grimaced.

He cleared his throat before he began to explain, “because there’s a reason why the royal family sealed the temple”.

“But there’s a message there for me”, I yelled.

“You need to relax for a few seconds Lyra, do you know if it’s just a trap?” He muttered.

I began feeling restless, and I whipped around for a minute before I said, “then I need answers”.

The courtyard became very quiet and I kept on staring at the silver necklace in my palm, while several thoughts ran through my mind.

“You’ll get the answers you deserve, but not alone” Magnus' deep baritone voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

The look on my face softened and I demanded from him, “do you want to come with me?”

“Of course, because there’s no way I’ll allow you  to go anywhere without being by your side”, he added in a very soothing voice.

Seraphina watched us carefully and she was startled at the response Magnus gave me, then she muttered, “there’s another problem”.

He turned towards her sharply and gasped, “what?”

“The king is aware of my presence here”, she whispered and turned towards the gate.

Magnus' expression faltered instantly, and he snapped “how did he know?”

Her hands began trembling seriously before she curved them inside her cloak. “I wasn’t supposed to escape”, she said.

I tilted my head to look at her suspiciously, and I inquired “what do you mean?”

She started explaining, “the king allowed me to come here, because he wanted me to lead the soldiers to the fortress”.

Magnus' hands hovered around his sword, then a loud horn echoed from the mountains and everyone in the courtyard turned towards the fortress wall.

The moment another horn echoed, the commander rushed towards Magnus and bowed respectfully, while his face looked grim.

“My Alpha, there are thousands of soldiers surrounding the mountains”, Karl said.

Magnus looked towards the gate and there were numerous torches shining one after the other from across the mountain.

“They actually came faster than I expected”, Seraphina whispered.

My heart started beating fast the moment I saw a soldier climbing towards Blackthorne and Magnus instructed, “seal the gate” while he pulled out his sword.

Blackthorne fortress warriors prepared their weapon and then stood in position.

“Well understood, my Alpha” Karl bowed and walked away from his presence.

Magnus turned towards me and commanded, “stay inside”.

I shook my head and responded immediately, regardless of the fear that gripped me, “no, I’m hiding again”.

I looked at the silver necklace in my palm and I held it tightly, like my life depends on it. Then I whispered “if they are here for me, then I need to know why”.

He walked closer to me and muttered, “you still don’t know what your power can do”.

“Teach me then”, I snapped lividly.

Magnus stared at me for a few seconds and his lips curved into a cold smile. “You’re beginning to be stubborn”.

“Maybe I learnt it from you”, I offered a fake smile.

Boom!

He was about to fake a smile before we heard a heavy explosion that made the fortress shake seriously. The eastern gate shook violently and the warriors screamed.

The king’s soldiers attacked tremendously again, before Magnus suddenly reached for my hand and held it firmly.

“They’re trying to attack us” Magnus whispered into my ears, while he looked at the gates and he heard a deep howl not from a wolf, but from something enormous that made his expression change instantly.

Immediately, Karl hurried towards him , his face looking so pale “my Alpha”.

“What is it?” Magnus interrupted with a harsh tone.

“There’s a royal banner in front of one of the armies, and…” Karl mumbled slowly.

Magnus interrupted immediately, “who owns it?”

Karl's voice became hoarse, and he lowered his head to respond “it belongs to Prince Rowan”.

My breath stopped instantly and I felt a sharp pain pierce through my chest. Rowan really came here with armies just to find me.

Magnus' eyes narrowed dangerously and he asked, “hope the warriors are well prepared for what’s about to happen?”
