The blazing sound of my alarm wakes me up before the sun has even touched my face.

I groan, rolling over to check the time. 7:28 a.m. Way too early for my liking. But today I promised Casey I’d help her with her final assignments.

Casey—my brother’s mate—never had the opportunity to get an education. Her previous pack was cruel, treating her like dirt simply because she was an orphan.

Louis took it upon himself to make sure she got the best. She’s already incredibly skilled with beading and creating things, but school… that was always a tender spot for her. She felt too shy, too out of place to enroll in an actual classroom because of her age. So Louis hired her a private tutor instead.

Now, she’s only a few months away from writing her GED. After that, maybe college—though I wouldn’t put it past her to end up pregnant first. And trust me, I know exactly what I’m saying.

Dragging myself into the bathroom, I go through my morning routine: face wash, moisturizer, braiding my hair into F

  • Rejected Me Once, Never Fool Me Twice   Chapter 43

Three days.It has been three days since I saw her face.Three long, fucking days since I heard from her.The only thing I’ve been hearing through the mind link is my father’s voice, prying and pressing, asking if I was okay, asking how my plan was going. I give him vague answers, half-truths that keep him satisfied but still at a distance. I can’t give him more. Not yet.Right now, all I need to know is my fate. What the fuck are you doing, Winter? Are you hiding from me?The questions claw at my chest as I pace the confines of my cell, my boots dragging across the stone floor, the sound a reminder of the cage I’ve been forced into. I feel like I’m burning holes into the walls. I run my hand through my hair, tugging it, restless, tense, raw. Then—later in the afternoon—I feel it.Footsteps. A cluster of them moving in my direction. The air shifts, thick with anticipation. And then, like a spark catching dry leaves, it hits me—her scent. That intoxicating pull that no chain or wolfsba

  • Rejected Me Once, Never Fool Me Twice   Chapter 41

Zander's POV I strip off my shirt and pants, leaving myself in nothing but my boxer briefs and the necklace hanging heavy against my chest. This necklace was given to me by my great-grandfather, Alpha Maddox. He was one of the greatest Alphas in history. He conquered territories, fought rogues, and built this pack into the strongest before handing it down to my grandfather. He wasn’t just a warrior—he was a good husband, a good father. To this day, his stories are still told in schools and across packs. And the irony? He wasn’t even a wolf god.I am the first wolf god born into my family. And now Louis, my first son, has inherited that too.But what kind of legacy am I building? I can’t even find out why rogues are after my daughter. I can’t fully protect my pack because as long as they have some claim on her, they’ll keep coming. I can’t risk that. And now, to twist the knife deeper, my daughter’s mate is one of them.Sometimes I wonder if the Moon Goddess is punishing me for the mi

Winter's POV After my dad’s blowout two days ago, I still haven’t brought myself to leave my room, let alone face Tyron and tell him the truth. Every time I imagine walking into that dungeon and seeing his eyes, chained and broken yet still defiant, my chest caves in.Dad isn’t going to let him go unless Tyron explains why he wanted to capture me.I know what’s at stake. Being a hybrid puts me at risk of being used for things far bigger and darker than I can even comprehend. That’s why my dad has been so protective of me since I was a little girl—always hovering, always shielding, always deciding. But what he doesn’t seem to understand is that I will find my mate. And in my case, the Fates bound me to a man who once tried to take me away. I’ll marry one day, and when that day comes, my mate will be my responsibility and I’ll be his. Dad has to let me go. He has to trust me.But that’s just the dream version of things. The real version? Knowing my father, he’d lock me in a tower with

The hallways felt longer than usual, like the packhouse was stretching itself out to delay me from reaching the inevitable. My palms were damp, heart tripping in uneven beats, every step ringing with the stupid weight of what I was about to do.“Just breathe,” Aria whispered beside me, but she wasn’t calm either—her hands twisted in the hem of her sweater, her brows knitting. She hadn’t agreed with me, not really, but she was here. A quiet witness.Dad’s presence was already humming through the house before I even saw him. That endless, dominating pressure in the air that always reminded me he wasn’t just Dad—he was Alpha, and more than that, god-wolf. The kind of being you didn’t argue with unless you were ready to be scorched down to your bones.I caught sight of him through the open archway into the study. He was at his desk, broad shoulders hunched slightly as he looked over maps and reports. A storm brewing in human form.“Go on,” Aria nudged me, but her voice was quieter now, ne

Winter’s POVThe cell door clanged shut behind me, the sound sharp enough to rattle down my spine. I told myself it was only the iron echoing, only the air humming with the memory of his voice—but no. It was him. His words, sly and careful, threaded under my skin long after he’d gone still against the stone. If only I could breathe fresh air, just for a moment. If I could remember what the sun feels like, maybe I wouldn’t forget I’m still alive. That was what he’d said. Or close enough.I shouldn’t have cared. I shouldn’t even have listened. But my heart had thudded in a way that made my throat tight, my palms restless. And the worst part? He’d said it looking at me as though the whole plea, the whole fragile wish, was wrapped in my hands to grant.“Winter, you’re being quiet.”Aria’s voice snapped me back. She walked at my side as we left the dungeon corridor, her braid bouncing against her back. The guards followed at a distance, boots crunching against the uneven stone, but I barel
