Chapter 1

Chapter 1.

Mira’s POV

“In the history of useless omegas, you're the worst I've seen.” Jerrithan, my father, growled at me.

My mother, Allena scoffed, “aren't all omegas useless?”

I couldn't dare to look at them. They had properly infiltrated fear into my heart, making me worse than I already was. Being a late bloomer was hard enough so much that being an omega stamped my death certificate.

“Are you going to keep your gaze fixed to the floor or respond to the allegations made by your sister?!” Allena yelled at me.

“Allegations? Mama?” Arianna sounded betrayed. My younger sister who had always been stronger than me, and of course, more cherished by our parents. “She did them.”

“Well, I'm sorry.” Allena sighed. “We have to be fair, and give her a chance to defend herself.”

I almost scoffed. She spoke like she gave me a chance the last time Arianna spoke, or even the last hundred times she had lied against me.

“Speak!” My father yelled at me.

“Erm… I… I…” I stuttered.

“You poured acid in my bath, and I almost got burnt!” Arianna hissed at me. I sighed, wondering how badly things would have gone if I had actually stepped into the acid water she made for me.

“Why are you accusing me of what you did to hurt me?” I asked, and a slap landed on my face. I could feel my cheeks burning, and my insides were flaming.

I hated being weak. I hated being unloved by my parents and maltreated because I don't possess a certain level of power.

“You dare accuse your sister of such evil that you only are capable of?!” She yelled at me, and I held my throat, swallowing my words and tears. I was used to being beaten, but I was still shocked at the way they despised me.

I hate them just as much as they hate me. Maybe I even hate them a little more. My heart gladdens at every thought of them being ripped apart by a much stronger force.

Who knows? Maybe the raging wolf hunters and pack wars would make their way here and end my suffering.

“It's enough.” My father's voice echoed through the room. One would have thought that he was there for my salvation.

“Are you saying she shouldn't be punished?!” Allena growled. “You spoil this girl too much!”

“She must be punished!” Arianna yelled.

I remained silent and kept my gaze pinned to the ground.

“She must be, but we need her to be in shape.” He argued. “The full moon is in a few days, and she must mate with the eligible ones in the pack and perform the one duty she's capable of performing in her miserable existence.”

“Giving birth to strong children.” Allena said, and a smirk grew on her face. I wanted to wipe off the smirk so much that it made my chest hurt.

“That's if she doesn't die during the mating process.” Jerrithan hissed in disgust at the thought of how weak I was.

Arianna did not try to hide the pleasure she felt at the possibility that I'd die during mating.

“So, I'll beg you now,” Allena muttered, moving close to me, “do the one thing you know how to do right.”

“I hate you so much.” The words slipped out of my mouth as a whisper, but Jerrithan heard them loud and clear. With everyone's reactions, they must have heard the words I spoke.

Jerrithan reacted way too fast. I was struggling to breathe and see at the same time because the slap sent me sprawling all over the place. I could barely maintain balance, and that was a real fight for my life.

Tears freely rolled down my eyes, although it felt good to have told them how I truly felt about them and their rule of tyranny.

“Repeat that?” He growled, hovering over me. He was about six foot five tall, so I was immediately intimidated by his height.

“Of course she hates us.” Arianna hissed. “Doesn't that explain why she'd pour acid into my bath so I'd experience so much pain.”

“It's a miracle that you even figured it out before entering.” Allena sighed. “We must teach her a lesson before she makes other omegas miserable as she is, think that they can have their way and try to kill us whenever they wish!”

Jerrithan growled in anger and hit his hand against the wall. I'm pretty sure that he pictured the wall as my face and would have enjoyed breaking my skull.

“I, Jerrithan Davis, Alpha of the Craven pack, banish you,” He spoke, and I was filled with shock.

“Uh-oh, it's happening.” Arianna said with a gentle squeal. Allena smiled so brightly that you'd have thought she won the lottery to the mythical genie wishes.

“...Mira Davis, omega of the Craven pack, to a life of loneliness as a rogue. You are not to step foot in this territory any longer, or else , you will pay for it with your life!”

I was shocked, but at the same time I felt liberated. I felt relieved at the same time as I felt scared. The outside world can not be as scary as this place is, can it?

I sighed, unable to say anything or even settle on a thought and think it through.

Jerrithan's beta rushed in, panting hard.

“The pack is under attack!” He yelled. Jerrithan was taken aback.

“By whom?” He asked as a smirk grew on my face. I had never felt so happy about anything. My greatest wish was to watch them die as I walked out of the pack’s territory.

“The Stone Creek pack.” He responded.

“Fuck!” Jerrithan growled. “Gather everyone and let's protect the pack.”

I was going to head on out to secure my future as a rogue with joy and happiness when Arriana pulled me back.

“Where do you think you're going?” She asked with a high pitched tone.

Jerrithan hissed and weaved his way past us, but before he did, he slammed my head against the wall, causing me to lose consciousness slowly.

I saw people rubbing helter skelter, and I felt Arianna kicking my stomach. I could hear screaming words at me. They were loud, but they sounded very distant.

***

I woke up to someone hovering over me. He had squatted low and was running his hands through my face. I would have jerked away in fear, but I was used to people hovering like that. I was only ever safe because I was Jerrithan’s daughter.

It was dark, so I had trouble seeing his face. My head ached terribly also. The events before I was knocked out flooded into my head, and I felt my chest rise in fear.

“Ah… you're awake.” He said with a very thick voice. He had this aura around him that made him seem very scary.

“Who… who… who are you?” I managed to ask.

“I am Alpha Harrison of the Stone Creek pack.” He said and I shook to my bones.

“I am your saviour.”
