ALLY'S POV
"Doc, she's been like this for months. Please do everything to save our daughter." I heard someone crying nearby. "We are doing our very best, Madame, to save your daughter's life. But as you can see, her whole body is burned, which is caused by a 5th-degree burn. It will take a lot of months or a year to heal her wounds. But don't worry, we will make sure that her wounds heal quickly." "Please do everything, Doc. Please do everything to improve my daughter's condition." "We are doing our very best, Madame. I will also refer you to one of our most trusted specialist doctors in America. They can handle this case very well since it is better for the patient to continue her treatment there." "Thank you so much, Doc." "It was my pleasure and honor to help you, Sir and Madame Cuevas. Excuse me, I'll leave you for now." I heard the door open and close softly. I tried to open my eyes to see who the people around me were now. But I was surprised when I couldn't even open my eyes. I was also feeling my whole body, but I couldn't feel anything. What's happening to me? Why can't I feel anything? My whole body feels numb. And no matter how hard I try, I can't do anything. Am I dead? Am I being judged by heaven? "Oh God, Roderick! She's been like this for three months. I don't know what to do anymore." W-what? Three months? I heard a woman sobbing nearby. "Shhh, I know it hurts, Rosellena, but all we can do right now is to pray to the almighty God. He won't abandon our daughter. I know she can get through this." Someone was comforting the crying woman. What daughter are they talking about? Am I their daughter? No! They're wrong! I'm not their daughter! I don't even know them. "I wish she hadn't left. I wish I hadn't allowed her to commute, Roderick! This is all my fault." I could still hear the woman crying. I couldn't understand what they were saying. Who are these people? What's happening? Why are they crying over me? Why are they saying that I'm their daughter? My parents have been dead for many years, so how could I be their daughter? "Let's just be thankful, Rosellena, that she's not like her other companions. She survived, our unica hija will survive this." Unica hija?! Something's wrong with what's happening right now. I want to talk to them and tell them the truth, but I really can't move my whole body. I can't even open my eyes. What's really happening to my body? Why can't I move, and why can't I even open my eyes? "It's been three months, Roderick! There hasn't even been a little change in her condition now. I want our daughter back to normal, Roderick! I'm taking her to the US! I'll continue her treatment there. I can't just stand here and wait without any certainty that she'll be back to normal. I can't look at her like this, Roderick. I just can't." Me? Being taken to the US for treatment? I'm not even their daughter! I'm a different person! I'm not their family or even related by blood! Can't they think of that?! My mind is now panicking with what's happening. I heard the door open again. And I guess there's another new person who came and entered this room. A long silence enveloped me now. And I couldn't help but wonder what was happening. Why are they silent? Who is the person who just came in? "L-leon...you're here." I heard the woman say in a soft voice. Her voice showed surprise. "I'm sorry to barge in, Tita. I should have knocked first. I've heard what happened to Mariel." I heard the person who just arrived answer. His voice was rough and somewhat brusque. Even though I could only hear his voice, I felt his authority. "My daughter is in a critical situation right now, hijo. It's been three months, but there's still no progress. We were already planning to take her to the US." That was the voice of the older man. "I understand, Tito. I'm also sorry that I only got to visit her now," he answered in his very brusque voice. "You don't need to apologize, hijo. We should even be thankful to you. Because you still visited our daughter even though you're so busy with work." "Our unica hija will surely be happy if she knows about this, Leon. You probably know how much she loves you, hijo." I didn't hear an answer from the man they called Leon. Instead, the only thing I heard was the couple leaving this room. Is this the boyfriend of the woman who is the couple's daughter? "You shouldn't have done that." I suddenly got nervous at the tone of his voice and the way he spoke. Why do I feel like this man is scary? "How many times have I told you that I don't want you going to El Fuego? That I don't want to see your face anymore." Wait a minute. Isn't the couple's daughter his girlfriend? Why does he seem angry at his girlfriend? Is it bad for his girlfriend to visit him? That's how it should be, right? It's natural for couples to see each other. And why am I interfering with them? I have a problem, and my problem is bigger now compared to their relationship. Because I can't move my whole body. "You're really stubborn. I told you that I don't like you and I have no intention of marrying you. Look what happened to you now. Tss." W-what did he say? He doesn't like his girlfriend and he has no intention of marrying her? If so, then why did he court the couple's daughter earlier if he didn't like her? "I may be harsh and ruthless on you. But I never wanted this to happen to you. Get well first for now, and then I'll talk to you when you're okay." WHAT?! I'm not your girlfriend, so don't say that to me! This man is so thick-faced. I really want to shout at him, but I can't. He's so arrogant. I feel sorry for his girlfriend. I heard him leave, so silence prevailed around me. I've been thinking about what the situation is around me now. The couple thinks I'm their daughter. And that man earlier also thinks that I'm his girlfriend. Why did they become lovers if he didn't like his girlfriend in the first place? And where is the couple's real daughter? Why did they mistake me for their daughter? What should I do now? I can't move, and according to what I heard, my condition is critical.( After Ten Years ) ALLYS POV I am here in the kitchen right now, busy putting icing on top of the cupcakes I baked. I was in the middle of adding sprinkles and chocolate shavings when I heard the loud, forceful sound of the double doors being thrown open in the living room. I immediately frowned. What was that about? I quickly took off my cellophane gloves and left what I was doing. “Please finish what I started, Rina,” I instructed one of the housemaids working with me here in the kitchen. I removed my apron and made my way toward our living room. Even before I got close enough, I could already hear raised voices. I saw Leo together with his best friend — Zackeriel and Bella’s eldest son, Zamiel. And based on what I was seeing right now, the two of them were arguing fiercely. “Don't turn your back on me, Mondragon!” Zamiel sneered and grabbed Leo’s arm tightly. Leo quickly yanked his arm away from him. “What the heck, Zamiel?! You’re making such a big deal out of this! Can’
ALLY'S POV "What are you doing here? Hmm?" He whispered in my ear, his voice sounding so sweet and full of affection. "Nothing. I'm just watching the sunset," I answered him, tilting my head back to rest against his chest. "It is so beautiful," he murmured, holding me even tighter, wrapping his arms securely around my waist. "Yes, it is. I love you, Leon. And I always will," I whispered softly, turning my face to look up at him. I found him staring at me intently, his eyes filled with so much love and adoration. I am so deeply, hopelessly in love with this man. "Mommy! Daddy! What are you two doing?" We both turned our heads at the same time when we heard our son calling us. He was looking up at us, standing on his tiptoes, holding a small red toy car in his hand. I smiled warmly and slowly stretched out my left hand toward him. "Come here, baby. We are watching the sunset," I invited baby Leo. He ran quickly toward me, and I immediately lifted him up and sat him comfortably
ALLY'S POV "LONG LIVE THE NEWLYWEDS!!!" Leon’s friends and all the household staff shouted joyfully, throwing handfuls of flower petals all over us. “Thank you,” I smiled warmly at everyone — Leon did the same, his hand never leaving mine. I glanced over at baby Leo, seated at the table with Kuya Zamrick. He was clapping his hands happily, a smudge of cake still smeared around his lips and on his cheeks. After we officially announced our wedding that same night, we became fully occupied with all the preparations. It took us almost a whole month to complete all the legal documents and arrangements — and we decided to hold Leo’s baptism right on the same day as our wedding. While everything was being organized, we also took the time to visit my stepfather, Tatay Arsing, back in Santa Monica. It turned out the place where I used to live wasn’t far at all from El Fuego; the ride only took about an hour. But we learned that Tatay Arsing had been imprisoned a long time ago, convicted o
ALLY’S POV “Goodness, hija! I really didn’t make a mistake choosing this dress. It fits you perfectly! I knew from the very start it would suit you beautifully,” the Señora said delightedly, looking me over with pride. “Thank you very much,” I answered shyly, glancing toward Leon, who stood quietly in the corner watching everything. I was startled when she suddenly clapped her hands together, as if a wonderful idea had just struck her. She turned smilingly toward Leon. “We will announce your upcoming wedding this evening — and set the exact date as well.” “W-WHAT?!” I stammered in shock, making her turn her gaze back to me. “Why, hija? You and Leon need to get married already — so that my second great-grandson can finally be baptized properly too,” she replied simply, making me blink rapidly in surprise. I looked over at Leon, who was now walking slowly toward me. When he finally reached my side, he immediately handed baby Leo over to the maid standing nearby. He slipped one ar
ALLY’S POV I am standing right now on the veranda of the mansion’s second floor, looking down at the people below busily arranging tables in the garden. Some are positioning round tables and chairs, while others are covering them with crisp white tablecloths. A few more are busy decorating and arranging ornaments all around the garden area. If the outside already looks this grand and magnificent, inside the great hall it is even more breathtaking. The whole place seems to shimmer in gold tones, and combined with their incredibly beautiful and expensive chandeliers, it looks like a lavish banquet hall made exclusively for the wealthy and noble. I still can’t believe what I’m seeing. Earlier, the Señora mentioned that just a simple gathering and dinner would be held tonight. But why do I feel like what is about to happen later is far more than just a simple meal? “Excuse me, Señorita. But it is time for you to get ready,” a maid approached me politely. “H-huh? Ahh… ehh… o-okay,” I
ALLY’S POV I accepted the hands extended to me by the other three men. “That’s enough pleasantries. Where is Lola?” Leon said, then held my hand again and pulled me inside through the tall double doors. When he pushed them open, I was stunned by their enormous grand hall. Hanging high above was a magnificent, sparkling chandelier made of fine crystals. Right in front of us stood a truly majestic staircase covered in soft red carpet. On both sides of the stairs were two porcelain statues shaped like lions standing guard, while the railing was draped in gold-colored fabric that waved beautifully like gentle waves. It looked exactly like the kind of grand ballroom I used to see only on television or in movies. I never imagined I would ever see something this magnificent in real life. From where I stood, I could clearly see what lay at the top of that impressive staircase. There were several elegant armchairs and sofas arranged like a living room area, while on the walls painted in r
ALLY’S POV I glanced at Leon and saw him sitting comfortably at the farthest table, staring at his expensive cellphone with a deep frown on his face. “I’ll be in the office for a while, Alice,” Daniel said, and I nodded in acknowledgement. The moment he left, Mika immediately moved beside me. “
ALLY’S POV I looked toward where the Mayor was standing. I saw Daniel there, together with his doctor friend—the same doctor who helped deliver my son. The men talking to them had their backs turned; they were tall and well-built, and judging by their build and aura, they were probably in their th
LEON’S POV “Have you gone completely insane, Leon?! She is NOT Mariel! She is NOT your fiancée!” Mom screamed at me. I just groaned in pure annoyance. We were here inside Dad’s private office in the mansion, and once again, the topic of discussion was Allys. “Mom, please… not again,” I told her
ALLY’S POV Several months have passed, and I still can’t quite believe there is a living, growing life inside my belly. I don’t experience morning sickness or cravings for certain foods—frequent dizziness is the only symptom I’ve had throughout my pregnancy. Every time I go for a check-up, Daniel
