The Rivalry

Jeric was surprised by what Mondrei said and he couldn't immediately answer.

"W-What did you say?" Jeric asked, still wondering what Mondrei meant and who's the omega he was referring to.

"Do I have to repeat what I said? Didn't you hear me?" Mondrei replied with a mixture of sarcasm in his voice. "Okay, I will repeat it for you. And I will say it slowly."

"Don't waste my time, Mondrei. Tell me your real purpose for coming here, and don't wait for me to get mad at you," Jeric said annoyingly to the alpha who's in front of him.

"Just relax, Jeric. Let me speak first and I will repeat what I said earlier," Mondrei continued with the intention of annoying Jeric even more. "I'm here for the omega who's already mated for me."

"Are you kidding me, Mondrei? You just entered here in our camp without permission. And now you're claiming that one of the omegas here belongs to you. I think you're dreaming, Mondrei. You have to wake up now. Or do you want me to wake you up?" Jeric said, still annoyed and he even raised his voice as he glared at Mondrei.

"I was talking about the omega you brought here, Jeric," Mondrei said in a hard voice and he even bravely met Jeric's sharp stares. "She's mine and I'll take her with me now."

"You don't own her, Mondrei!" Jeric said aloud. "And as I've remembered, you're the one who killed all the members of their pack and took her parents as well."

"Really? Do you think I'm the one who wants to do that? No, Jeric. And when you find out who is really behind that massacre in their pack, you'll definitely be shocked and will surely decide to stay away from that omega. You will surely have a hard time handling the situation. Especially when she finds out the truth."

"What do you mean?"

"Whatever you're thinking, that's it. And I'm not obligated to explain it to you. There's a reason why I came here, so if you'll excuse me, I need to do that now. Let's just talk the next time we meet," Mondrei then turned around and was about to walk towards the hall when Jeric stopped him.

"Stop!" Jeric said aloud as he grabbed Mondrei by the shoulder and he pulled him back with full force. "We're not done talking!"

Mondrei almost fell to the ground because of Jeric's force pulling him. And that caused his blood to heat up and anger flare up in his chest.

"Go ahead, Mondrei! Fight me!" Jeric then took a fighting stance and prepared himself for a possible encounter with Mondrei.

Mondrei tried to calm himself down even though he got annoyed at what Jeric did to him. His mind is still working and he doesn't want to make a decision that might lead him to a dangerous situation inside the camp of the New Moon Pack.

"What, Mondrei?" Jeric said with anger and a loud voice. "Don't tell me, you're being a coward now because that's not how I knew you."

"What's going on here?"

Jeric and Mondrei were stunned as they heard a familiar voice coming from an old woman.

"Good evening, Mrs. Jones," Mondrei greeted immediately and he even bowed slightly in respect to the Luna ruler of the New Moon Pack. A few moments later, her husband also came and he paid respect to him as well.

"Mother, Father, you shouldn't come here. You know that I can handle this," Jeric said immediately when his parents approached them. He didn't want them to worry and if Mondrei did try to fight him, he didn't want them to get involved.

"I think, there's a misunderstanding here, Mr. and Mrs. Jones. I came here not to cause trouble, but to get the omega who already belongs to me," Mondrei immediately said in a calm voice as the couple faced him.

Jeric's parents were shocked by what Mondrei said and wondered what he meant.

"Mother, Father, don't believe what this crazy alpha was saying. He's just making a story to mess up with this important night in our camp," Jeric said immediately and he even held his mother's hand.

Mrs. Jones immediately got away with her son’s hand and seriously addressed Mondrei of the Night Walkers Pack.

"What do you mean? Go ahead and explain," Mrs. Jones seriously said in a hard voice.

"The omega that Jeric brought here is actually already mated for me. That's why I am here. I want to get her and bring her back to my camp," Mondrei replied in a still calm voice.

Mrs. Jones was surprised by the response she heard from Mondrei and immediately looked at her son.

"Is what he's saying true, Jeric?" Mrs. Jones asked her son in a hard voice.

"I told you, Mother. He's just..." Jeric couldn't finish what he was saying when his mother spoke immediately.

"Who exactly is that omega, Jeric? Where did she come from and how did you meet her?" Mrs. Jones continued questioning her son in a hard and still serious voice.

Jeric couldn't answer immediately as he also didn't know what he would answer to his mother. Whether to tell her the truth or just think of another reason.

"I have had doubts about that omega since the first time I met her. Don't tell me, I was right in doubting her," Mrs. Jones continued.

"Mother..." Jeric's speech was interrupted again when his mother immediately spoke as if she didn't want to give him a chance to explain.

"Give that omega back to her rightful owner, Jeric. Don't wait for it to cause war between us and the Night Walkers Pack," Mrs. Jones ordered her son and she began walking back into the hall.

"No, Mother! I'm not going to do it!" Jeric said aloud. A reason for his mother to stop walking and she faced him again. "He doesn't own Lany. And I know exactly why he wants to get her. He wants her to be their prisoner and make her into a sex slave."

He then turned to Mondrei and gave him sharp looks. He met his gaze and noticed that he seemed to get mad with what he said. He felt a little relieved as he seemed to have succeeded in thwarting his plans.

He knew that his purpose was to convince his mother of what he was saying. Everyone, even members of the other pack knows how powerful Mrs. Jones is. Once she throws words, it must be obeyed and no one in the New Moon Pack can go against her command.

"Give that omega to whoever really owns her, Jeric," Mrs. Jones replied in a hard voice and with emphasis on every word she uttered. "Don't wait for me to order for her to be dragged out of our camp."

Mrs. Jones' voice was loud and she was really serious about what she said. Something that gave Mondrei a very good feeling as he thought that he would leave the camp of the New Moon Pack together with the omega he had long wanted to have by his side.

However, Jeric still stood his ground and refused to simply hand over Lany to Mondrei. He knows what can happen to the omega and as much as possible, he wants to protect her. Even if the meaning of that is to go against his mother's words.

"I agree with Jeric, Luna. As long as the omega is inside our camp, it's not right to just take her, especially by a member of our rival pack," Mr. Jones said, who's taking his son's side.

His Luna just looked at him and did not speak anymore to argue with him.

Meanwhile, Lany noticed Jeric leaving in the middle of the event and she got a little nervous as she thought that there was a possible danger inside the camp. She also overheard some members of the New Moon Pack talking about someone from another pack who entered the camp without permission.

And she even got more nervous when she saw the Jones couple also leave the hall and she was sure that they would also follow where their son went.

It's already been a while but they still didn't return and that caused a stir among some members of the New Moon Pack. Some of them have also panicked due to speculations that they may have been attacked by another pack.

At that point, Chadrick stepped up and spoke in front of all the members of the New Moon Pack who were there and said that there was nothing to worry about because everything is under control. And no one would dare to mess up that important event in their camp.

As Chadrick spoke in front of all, Lany slowly walked out of the hall and her curiosity took her there as to what was going on and where Jeric and his parents were.

She began to feel a strange feeling and slightly wondered if Jeric was still keeping a secret from her. But on the other side of her mind are the worries she feels for him. She couldn't help but think that he might get in danger even though they were inside their own territory.

As she continued walking, she noticed an alpha whose face was familiar to her. She had only seen him now inside the camp of the New Moon Pack but she was sure that she had seen him somewhere.

Then the alpha continued walking and she slowly followed him secretly.

Moments later, he suddenly stopped as if he felt that someone was following him. She immediately hid and when he turned around, he actually didn't see her. But she was surprised and her chest suddenly throbbed fast when she recognized him.

She even held her chest when something seemed to pierce her heart and she felt pain.

The massacre of the entire members of their pack suddenly came back to her mind. She still carries that painful memory up to this moment, especially since she still doesn’t know where her parents are.

This is after she confirmed that the alpha she's following is the alpha who's with Mondrei as they attacked their camp and killed every member of their pack.

Then the alpha continued walking when he saw nothing as she hid immediately.

She then came out where she hid to still follow the alpha, but she was surprised when someone suddenly grabbed her shoulder from behind. She immediately turned around and was surprised when she recognized who it was.

"Ch-Chadrick," Lany said in shock.

"What are you doing here, Ms. Barnes?" Chadrick immediately asked. "I got worried when I didn't see you in the hall and immediately looked for you. Thank God you're just here." He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the omega was safe. Because Jeric would definitely get mad at him when she got in danger and he wasn't able to protect her.

"I-I am following that alpha," Lany pointed with her finger at the alpha she was referring to. "He looks suspicious. I heard from some members of the pack that someone entered the camp without permission," she said.

Chadrick immediately looked at the alpha that Lany was referring to and he just smiled when he recognized who it was.

"Ah, are you referring to him? The one in a black shirt and also with a black cap?" Chadrick asked in confirmation.

"Y-Yeah, he is," Lany replied immediately. There's no other alpha there who's wearing a black shirt and black cap, so she was sure that Chadrick also got who's the alpha she was referring to.

"No worries, Lany because he's also a member of the New Moon Pack. He really looks suspicious if you look at him, but he's not harmful," Chadrick replied to the omega.

Lany was surprised by what she heard. She didn't think that that alpha was also a member of the New Moon Pack. Does this mean that this pack has a connection to the massacre that Mondrei and the Night Walkers Pack did to their camp? Did Jeric really have something to do with that incident? These were the questions that immediately got inside her mind.

"Are you alright, Ms. Barnes?" Chadrick asked worriedly as Lany suddenly fell silent and seemed to be deep in thought.

"Y-Yeah. I'm okay," Lany replied as she came back to her senses when Chadrick tapped her lightly on the shoulder.
