Worried Of You

Mrs. Jones pulled her son towards her when her alpha took his side and they would definitely fight if she will attempt to argue with him.

"Do you know what could be the result of you doing this, Jeric? As I said before, it could be the cause of the outbreak of war between us and the Night Walkers Pack," Mrs. Jones said to her son in a low voice. Just enough for him to hear it and not reach Mondrei's ears.

"That won't happen, Mother," Jeric replied immediately.

"How can you be sure when you've violated the law of peace between packs around the world? You can't claim anyone who's already mated with someone else, Jeric. Whether it's omega or beta, and especially if it's an alpha," Mrs. Jones continued, still in a low but hard voice.

"We're not sure if what he's saying is true. And I really doubt that he's telling the truth," Jeric continued with his stance. "And in fact, he also broke the law, Mother. And that's entering here in our camp without permission."

Mrs. Jones was stunned because of what her son said. It is true that Mondrei broke the law, but they're both aware that he actually can get in and out of their camp before. But that was a long time ago and a lot of things have changed.

Jeric was about to turn his back on his mother when she suddenly spoke, so he faced her again.

"How important is that omega to you and the way you defend her now is like you want to say that you're ready to give up everything just for her?" Mrs. Jones seriously asked her son.

Jeric didn't answer immediately and kept staring at his mother. He also doesn't know what to answer as he couldn't understand himself either what's the role of that omega in his life. Why is he still keeping her by his side? Then he just bowed down when he couldn't think of anything to answer his mother.

"Why don't you answer, Jeric?" Mrs. Jones continued when she heard no answer from Jeric. "Why? Do you see Qwayne in her, that's why you want to keep her?"

Jeric raised his face again after hearing what his mother said. And that thought suddenly entered his mind, that maybe, that was really the reason why he was like that when it was about Lany. And how much he wanted to protect her, especially at Mondrei’s hands.

"I-I just want to protect her, Mother. Omegas like her who have lost their packs and even their families need our protection. That's exactly what we've been doing before, right?" Jeric was able to answer his mother.

"Are you sure that's really the only reason, Jeric?"

"Y-Yes, Mother," Jeric replied in a low voice.

"If that's the case, then think of a way how will you handle Mondrei about the omega that he's claiming to be already mated to him."

"I've already something in my mind, Mother," Jeric said and then he turned his back to his mother and faced Mondrei.

Mondrei met Jeric's gaze and waited for him to say something.

"You have no proof on your claim that you own Lany Barnes. And besides that, you also entered our camp without permission. But for the sake of the past, I will give you a chance to get out of here safely as if nothing happened," Jeric said in a stiff voice in front of Mondrei.

"Why don't you just get to the point, Jeric?" Mondrei replied in the same hard voice as he was not satisfied with what Jeric said.

"I am challenging you to a duel, Mondrei. A fair and dignified fight," Jeric replied seriously. "If I win, you leave our camp safely as if nothing happened but never ever mess with Lany Barnes again. Even mentioning her name to us, you're not allowed to do that."

"What if I win?" Mondrei immediately asked when Jeric finished speaking. He's smiling like a dog as if he was confident of winning against the best and strongest alpha of the New Moon Pack.

"If you win against me, then you can have Lany Barnes and leave our camp with her," Jeric's voice was still hard. Although it was a gamble with Lany at stake, he was confident that he could win it. And what is needed now is the approval of his parents to start this fight between him and Mondrei.

"Since it's you who gave the condition, I think it's a little bit unfair towards me. You're asking too much, Jeric. You want to take the omega that I already own away from me," Mondrei said seriously and he even walked closer to Jeric. "In that case, can I add a condition if I win against you?"

"Say it," Jeric replied immediately.

"I want to take Edlyn Flores as well if I win against you," Mondrei said emphatically as he stared at Jeric.

Jeric was stunned after hearing Mondrei's request. Edlyn Flores is the omega who's mated to his friend Chadrick, so he hesitated to answer him right away.

"No problem, take her with you if you win." Mrs. Jones responded to Mondrei's request.

"Since it was Mrs. Jones who answered, I assumed that it's all set now," Mondrei said, still smiling like a dog at Jeric as he was deliberately annoying him. "All we have to do now is to prepare for the battle."

Jeric looked at his mother and it was her serious face that greeted him. Then he turned his gaze to his father and he nodded to him to convey that he trusted him. After a while, he turned to Mondrei again.

"The fight between us, I want it to happen right now," Jeric said in a hard voice as he glared at Mondrei.

"I have no problem with that, Jeric," Mondrei replied immediately, also staring at Jeric intently. "You know that I'm always ready to fight you anytime you want."

"If that's the case, then I’ll get the arena ready," Mr. Jones said and then he turned his gaze to the alpha soldiers standing behind them.

"Prepare the battlefield arena for the battle of Jeric and Mondrei," Mr. Jones said aloud to the three alpha soldiers.

The three alpha soldiers immediately followed and gathered the rest of them to prepare the battlefield arena.

It will be a fair fight between the two powerful alphas, so Mr. Jones gave them enough time to prepare and practice first.

Meanwhile, Chadrick was surprised when he noticed the alpha soldiers assigned to guard the Jones couple rushing toward their headquarters. After a while, they came back with the other alpha soldiers and headed to the battlefield arena.

"What's going on? Is it true that there's another pack who entered the camp and attacked us?" Lany asked worriedly.

Chadrick intercepted an alpha soldier and immediately asked him what was going on.

"M-Mr. Jones ordered us to send some alpha and beta soldiers at the battlefield arena to prepare it for an upcoming battle," the alpha soldier who was intercepted by Chadrick immediately replied.

"Why didn't I know this? I'm the second in command of the New Moon Pack. Why didn't it reach me?" Chadrick continued while still wondering.

"The Jones couple ordered it all of a sudden."

"The battlefield arena hasn't been used for a long time. Why did Mr. Jones suddenly order to open it?" Chadrick continued as he still couldn't understand what was going on.

"There's a battle that will happen inside the arena, Alpha Chadrick, that's why we're being sent there to standby and make sure that everything will be okay. And Alpha Jeric is one of the fighters."

"What? Alpha Jeric!" Chadrick said while being a little shocked.

Even Lany was also surprised by what she heard from the alpha soldier. On one side of her heart, she suddenly felt worried about Alpha Jeric. At that moment, the negative thoughts about Jeric and the New Moon Pack suddenly got out of her mind.

"Who's the one he's going to fight with?" Chadrick asked the alpha soldier who was in front of him.

"Mondrei Basco of the Night Walkers Pack."

"What? Jeric will fight Mondrei of the Night Walkers Pack?" Chadrick said, who almost couldn't believe what he heard. "H-How..."

"I don't know either, Alpha Chadrick. I think it's better if you just follow me to the battlefield arena and I'm sure that Mr. and Mrs. Jones will soon look at you as well."

"Okay, go ahead first and I'll be there in a moment," Chadrick said to the alpha soldier and he immediately followed him and went to the battlefield arena.

"I want to come along," Lany said, still worried about Jeric and she even held her chest when she felt its throbbing suddenly speed up. Especially when she heard the name of Mondrei who would be his opponent. She witnessed how he effortlessly killed the members of their pack, so she knew how ruthless and powerful he was.

"You can come with me. Just stay beside me when we get there, okay," Chadrick replied and then they started walking towards the battlefield arena.

The battle had not yet begun when they got there. Chadrick immediately noticed the Jones couple sitting in the VIP seat in front of the arena. Then Mr. Jones called him, so he immediately approached them together with Lany.

"It's a good thing that you came here together with Ms. Lany Barnes." Mrs. Jones spoke after Chadrick and Lany approached them.

Lany was stunned when she heard her name being mentioned by Mrs. Jones which seems like she will play a big role in the big fight that will take place.

"W-Why, Mrs. Barnes? What has Lany got to do with the battle between Jeric and Mondrei?" Chadrick asked Mrs. Barnes.

No answer was given by Mrs. Jones to Chadrick. She seriously turned to Lany instead and began to speak.

"Did you know that Mondrei of the Night Walkers Pack was claiming that you're already mated to him? Whether it's true or not, I don't care anymore," Mrs. Jones said while looking at Lany. "Did you also know that because of that, a war could break out between the New Moon Pack and Night Walkers Pack? And to prevent that, Jeric had to challenge Mondrei to a fair fight inside the battlefield arena."

"Whaaat?" Chadrick said in shock. "Why did you agree, Mrs. Jones? You know better how dangerous this is to Jeric."

"What can I do? That's what Jeric wants and we all know that we can't stop him. He wants to keep Lany Barnes by his side, that's why he did that." There was frustration in Mrs. Jones' voice.

Lany was even more confused as to what was really going on, so she asked Chadrick.

"What's really going on, Chadrick? Why would Jeric and Mondrei fight inside the battlefield arena? And what could happen to Jeric?" Lany asked a series of questions, still with worries in her voice.

"You've probably heard what Mrs. Jones said about Mondrei claiming that you're already mated to him," Chadrick said seriously after facing Lany.

"That-That's not true. No one owns me yet," Lany replied immediately.

"But that's what Mondrei claims. And like what we think, Jeric also knows why Mondrei wants to get you. That's why he made such a decision. And that's to fight Mondrei inside the battlefield arena. Jeric wants to protect you and at the same time, to prevent a possible outbreak of war between the New Moon Pack and Night Walkers Pack."

Lany couldn't speak because of what she heard from Chadrick.

"The agreement is sacred when fighting inside the battlefield arena. And whoever loses, has to abide by the agreement. But the worst part is, inside the arena, they can kill each other and no one can appease them," Chadrick continued.

"What? Are-Are you serious?" Lany asked while being a little shocked. She even looked at Chadrick because of the last words he said.

"There are only two ways to determine who's the winner. That is if one of them dies. Or someone surrendered," Chadrick said seriously. "That's why I am too worried about Jeric. Mondrei is one of the best and most powerful alphas in the world, so Jeric will surely have a hard time beating him."

"You're right, Alpha Chadrick. I know how powerful and ruthless Mondrei is because I witnessed that when he attacked our camp," Lany agreed. "We need to stop Jeric from fighting that crazy alpha."

Lany and Chadrick were about to walk to find Jeric and convince him not to continue the fight when they saw Mondrei enter the arena. And after a while, Jeric entered inside as well.
