Stories Of Our Lives

Mondrei looked at where Lany was standing and when their eyes met, he immediately winked at her and smiled.

Lany averted her eyes and turned her gaze back to Jeric. She didn't take it away from him until he also looked at her and their eyes met.

She felt him being calm and he even smiled at her as if he wanted to convey to her that she shouldn’t have to worry about him.

But when she touched her chest, she could still feel its rapid throbbing. She was still worried about him, despite some doubts that he or the New Moon Pack was somewhat involved in the massacre that happened to the entire members of their pack.

Moments later, the announcer spoke and the fight between the two powerful alphas who's representing the New Moon Pack and Night Walkers Pack formally began.

Some members of the New Moon Pack also came to the arena when they learned that Jeric and Mondrei would be fighting inside the battlefield arena.

In the first encounter, Lany immediately felt scared while watching. She was afraid that Jeric might turn into like the members of their pack that Mondrei mercilessly killed and he just did that effortlessly. No matter how hard she tried to convince herself that Jeric would defeat that crazy Mondrei, she still couldn't help but feel extreme worries for him.

Mondrei unleashed powerful blows that landed on Jeric's body and some were in his face. He also showed his speed in the early part of the battle and showed everyone that he can effortlessly beat Jeric.

Everyone who's watching felt the same way, that was fear and concern for Jeric. Although he still hasn't shown his real abilities, they also know how powerful Mondrei is.

Jeric did receive strong blows from Mondrei but it didn't matter to him as his body was too hard as if it was made of steel. The only thing that got him hurt a little was the strong blows that landed on his face.

"What now, Jeric? Don't tell me the rumor that you've been weak since you lived in the city is true," Mondrei said to Jeric with a mixture of sarcasm. "If that's the case, then it won't be exciting to fight you."

"I'm just warming up, Mondrei. The real fight hasn't started yet," Jeric replied in a hard voice.

"I'm getting bored, Jeric. Unleash your real abilities now," Mondrei continued. "The omega who's at stake in this fight is watching you. Don't you feel sorry for her? She's too worried about you, thinking that you're weak and can't keep up with me."

Jeric looked at Lany because of what Mondrei said and he noticed the extreme worries on her face.

Then Mondrei suddenly makes a surprise attack on him and he's not aware of it. But instead of avoiding it, he also unleashed a strong punch towards him. They both hit each other in the chest and they also both fell down the ground due to the impact of their punches.

"Can I say now that the real fight has already begun?" Mondrei asked as if he was pleased with what Jeric had shown.

"Think of whatever you want, Mondrei. I'm just trying to go easy with you, but it seems unlikely to happen. So be prepared because you will definitely get hurt after this," Jeric replied in a hard voice.

"It's gonna be exciting," Mondrei said excitedly as he repositioned himself in his fighting stance.

Jeric did the same and after a while, Mondrei attacked again and he gave him a counter attack and a powerful flying kick.

For the first time, he hit Mondrei with a solid attack without receiving a punch coming from him. Mondrei even backed away and almost fell down.

By this time, Mondrei got heated up. And when he attacked Jeric again, he did not allow him to have the advantage. They exchanged powerful blows and they proved to themselves that they were almost equal in strength.

Meanwhile, Lany heard someone talking to another one from behind her, probably women of the New Moon Pack. She clearly heard them badmouthing her. They said that it was because of her that the two strong alphas were fighting. And according to them, she doesn't even deserve getting the attention of the two alphas who were fighting. She heard many hurtful words from them and some insults.

She was about to face them to let them know that she was there and she clearly heard everything. But Chadrick stopped her. So she just focused on watching the fight between Jeric and Mondrei.

Then she heard something again from them that caught her attention, and she didn't hold herself back anymore and turned to them to confront them. She heard from them that Jeric and Mondrei had been friends before.

"What did you say? Jeric and Mondrei used to be friends before?" Lany asked the gossipers. She wanted to confirm from them if what she heard was true as it was a big deal for her.

The gossipers stopped and suddenly fell silent when Lany confronted them, especially when they saw that Alpha Chadrick was with her.

"Just ignore them, Ms. Barnes," Chadrick told Lany in an almost whispered voice. Just enough for the omega next to him to hear it.

"I-I just want to know if what they're saying was true, that Jeric and Mondrei used to be friends before," Lany immediately replied to Chadrick.

"Okay, okay. I will answer all your questions. Just don't make a scene here and Mrs. Jones might see you and get mad at you."

Lany didn't speak anymore and turned her back to the gossipers. She then turned to Chadrick and waited for him to answer her question.

"Yes, Jeric and Mondrei used to be friends before. Even though they belong to different packs, they are still very close to each other. Mondrei was free to come and go here back then and they practiced together in that arena," Chadrick started.

"What happened?" Lany asked.

"Everything suddenly changed because of an unexpected event," Chadrick replied in a sad voice. Then he turned seriously to Lany and held her by the shoulder. "Please don't tell Jeric that I told you about this. He strictly instructed me not to tell you about Mondrei and him."

Lany just nodded after hearing Chadrick say that.

"I hope it doesn’t cause misunderstanding for you about Jeric," Chadrick continued. "I hope you understand why he wants to keep it a secret from you. We know what Mondrei did to your pack."

"B-But why..." Lany couldn't finish what she was going to say when she suddenly felt pain in her chest. Jeric could have told her about Mondrei but he chose to keep it secret from her. So how could she not misunderstand the situation? And what's really Jeric’s real purpose in helping her.

And the doubts she had with Jeric seemed to return to her mind. Although on the other side of her mind, her worries for him and the special feelings that were growing in her heart were still there.

And during those moments, Mondrei was able to bring down Jeric. And the moment Jeric fell to the ground, he immediately took advantage of the opportunity. He quickly ran over his body and unleashed powerful blows to his face, head, and even on his chest.

Jeric also retaliated with punches but this time, it was Mondrei who had the advantage. His face was bloody now and he was in a dangerous situation.

Mrs. Jones stood up because of Jeric’s situation and got too worried about her son. Although she was confident that her son would win, it was as if her heart was breaking into pieces while seeing him being beaten up and in a delicate position.

Jeric saw an opportunity when he hit Mondrei with a solid punch in the face and he got shaken up a little, so he immediately kicked him hard.

Mondrei fell down the ground because of that forceful kick coming from Jeric. And he fell near where Lany and Chadrick were.

He touched his lips that's been hit by Jeric's punch earlier. He then looked at his hand and saw blood in it. He felt the impact of Jeric's punch, so it wasn't surprising that his lips exploded.

Then he turned his gaze to Lany and smiled at her. He came even closer to her and began to speak.

"Did you see how I beat Alpha Jeric? And did you also know that I can kill him here inside the arena and no one can stop me from doing that? Unless he gives up and accepts his defeat," Mondrei told Lany while smiling like a dog.

Lany gave no answer and just averted her eyes from Mondrei. She then turned her gaze to Jeric who was now standing but was obviously still hurt because of the series of punches he received from Mondrei.

"He's helping you, right? How lucky you are that you have Alpha Jeric who's willing to protect you. And he's unlucky as you can't do anything to help him back when I decided to kill him," Mondrei continued, still smiling like a dog. "But wait. There's actually something you can do to save him. That was to convince him to give up on the fight and you also come with me to our camp."

Lany still ignored Mondrei's words and kept his gaze turned to Jeric.

"Don't tell me, you already fell in love with that alpha without knowing his background," Mondrei continued.

Lany got annoyed with Mondrei continuously speaking even though she was not paying attention to him, so she faced him with her glaring eyes.

"I already knew that you used to be friends with Jeric before," Lany said while being annoyed. And Chadrick immediately grabbed her by the shoulder, so she stopped speaking. She was about to turn her back on Mondrei and avoid him when he spoke again.

"Is that all you knew about him? How about what happened in your camp?" Mondrei continued. And he caught Lany's attention again and she immediately turned to him. "Sounds interesting, right?"

"What do you really want, Mondrei?" Lany turned annoyingly to Mondrei.

"Just ignore him, Lany," Chadrick said and held the omega on her shoulder again.

"Do you see that alpha sitting alone at the back?" Mondrei continued.

Lany immediately turned to the alpha that Mondrei was referring to. She was stunned and even stepped a little backwards when she recognized him. He was the alpha she's been following earlier who's with Mondrei when they attacked their camp and killed every member of their pack. And according to Chadrick, he is also a member of the New Moon Pack.

"Are you surprised why he's here?" Mondrei continued. "He's the one and only..." he couldn't finish what he was going to say when Jeric suddenly grabbed him from behind and threw him in the middle of the battlefield arena.

"You're in the middle of a fight, but you keep on talking to someone," Jeric said in a hard voice and then positioned himself in his fighting stance.

Mondrei just laughed out loud and then stood up as he met Jeric's glaring eyes.

"This would have been my perfect chance to kill you, Jeric. But after I took a closer look at the omega you're protecting, I suddenly changed my mind. She reminds you of Qwayne, right? Now I understand why you want to protect her," Mondrei said in a hard voice.

"Just leave her out of this and continue with our fight."

"How can we leave her out of this when she's the reason why we're fighting now? She's the one at stake at this battle, Jeric."

"Just stop blabbering and let's continue with the fight," Jeric then rushed with an attack at Mondrei but he quickly avoided him.

If earlier, Mondrei keeps on attacking Jeric and countering his attacks, now, he did nothing but evade Jeric's attacks.

"Just relax, Jeric. Let's not waste our energy. I've already changed my mind. I'm no longer interested in killing you. You can keep your omega now," Mondrei said, which was the reason for Jeric to stop attacking him.

"What do you mean?" Jeric asked in astonishment.

"I'm giving up on the fight, Jeric. I will let Lany Barnes stay with you and as we agreed, I won't bother her anymore. And I won't even mention her name, like what you've said."

Jeric was surprised by Mondrei's decision and was even more annoyed by it when he felt as if he had been insulted as he knew to himself that he was capable of beating him in a fair fight.

"Are you surprised?" Mondrei continued, still with a mixture of sarcasm towards his opponent. "Well, it's because I'm confident now that no matter what happens, Lany Barnes will still go with me at the end of the day. And on top of that, I suddenly became interested in what will happen next to your story."

Mondrei then formally announced that he was surrendering against Jeric.
