Rise of the Direwolf.

Serenity's POV

This is my story of how I go from being an abused nobody in my pack, unloved by all, to finding my true self and having a new purpose in life.

My name is Serenity Sage Nightshade. I am nearly 18 years old and the oldest child of Alpha Lucan Nightshade and Luna Rhea Nightshade of the Deadly Nightshade pack.

I have a twin brother named Statham Steele Nightshade. He is 20 minutes younger than I am, and this is the cause of one of the main reasons I am hated so much by my family.

I also have 3 younger brothers, Sutton Salem Nightshade is 17 years old and twins Stephen Sterling Nightshade and Skyler Samuel Nightshade are 16 years old.

The reason I am hated by my family is when my mother was pregnant with my brother and I, she was told by the pack doctor that she would be having twin boys.

This news made my parents extremely happy has having twin alpha sons to run the pack would make our pack one of the strongest in the country.

So imagine the surprise they got when on the 4th May at 11:50pm, my mother gave birth to a baby girl.

My parents were furious. They were having twin boys not a girl and a boy! And to make matters worse I was born FIRST!

My brother, Statham, was born on May 5th at 12:10AM, Fulfilling my parents wishes to be blessed with a son, unfortunately being the second born he wouldn't be able to take over as alpha.

As per wolf law the eldest child born to the Alpha and Luna inherits the pack no matter the gender, unless the female is mated to the Alpha of another pack, only then can the second born take over as alpha.

In the instance of multiple births, 2 males can rule the pack together as they generally have the same mate.

If it's a male/female multiple birth, the title will go to the first born.

My parents were furious that I would be taking over the pack.

From the day I was born, I have been hated by my parents, brothers and pack. Honestly if it wasn't for my gran I wouldn't of survived infancy, let alone my childhood as it was her that took me in and raised me, as my mother refused to have anything to do with raising me, in her eyes she only had 1 baby, not twins.

My gran, Rayne, was my mother's mum. She passed away when I was 14.

She contracted a rare disease that only affects werewolves called Biocanangourous, biocan for short.

It is commonly found in older generation wolves, but on the very rare occasions it can be found in young wolves.

It makes the patient extremely sick and slowly takes away everything from you.

For gran it started with losing her werewolf hearing, then her ability to shift and heal, finalizing with her losing her eye sight. By the end of her suffering, she was essentially human.

Biocan doesn't stop there though, once the werewolf abilities are gone it then attacks the body from the inside out till the person ends up dying.

I looked after my gran the whole time until the pack doctor, Dr Stone Greyson, put her in the pack hospital to keep her comfortable until her time was up.

I hated the moon goddess for taking my gran from me. She was everything to me and I knew that with her gone, my life was about to take a turn for the worse.

After gran passed I was forced by my "parents" to move into the basement of the packhouse from my grans house, as they wanted to knock down her house to expand the training grounds, that's what they told the pack anyway, but the truth was, they didn't want me to have anything for myself and because I was 14 I couldn't live by myself, I had to have a Guardian till I was 18.

Watching my childhood home be demolished was truly heartbreaking, it felt like I lost Nan all over again, just watching the last thing that was hers be taken away from me.

My family laughed at me the whole the time I watched the house be destroyed.

Once I was delegated to the basement, which consisted of a single bed with a very thin mattress, a small set of drawers for the clothing I owned, which consists of 4 sets of pj's, 4 leggings, 4 t-shirts and 4 sets of underwear and socks. Then there was a small ensuite with a toilet, sink and very small shower and of course I can't forget the cold concrete floor that I wasn't allowed to put a rug on so I didn't freeze when I walked on it.

I was allowed 1 sheet for the bed, 1 pillow and a thin blanket. There was no heating down stairs and I was locked down there from 11pm till 6am, if I wasn't woken up earlier by the return of the hunters to deal with the meat they caught.

My life from then on became a living nightmare. Every morning I was woken up by my brothers either beating me or dragging me out of bed to make them breakfast, as they were too lazy to do that themselves and heaven forbid that they allowed the omega cooks my mother hired to cook for them.

If I messed up the food, I was beaten, if I spoke back to any of my brothers or their friends I was tied up outside for an hour, no matter the weather, until I had " learned my place", which according to them was the outcast of the pack, the runt, the most hated fucking bitch to ever exist.

If I ever crossed my parents path the beating and punishments were so extreme, I would be beaten within an inch of my life ending.

They would leave me there till my wolf could heal me enough, I could make it back to my "room".
