Caesar’s POV
“You are one hell of a persistent bastard, aren’t you?” Tyler said as he stood beside me.
I was leaning against the wall of the room that Brae and Raine were currently in. I was waiting for the room's door to open for Brae to get out so I could have the long-awaited conversation with her.
This time, I won’t let her run away and avoid me anymore.
“Are you aware that these past few days, you have been acting like a dog who keeps on waiting for his master to notice him? Look, you’re doing it again right now. Seriously, man. Aren’t you getting tired?”
“Shut the fuck up, Tyler, and scram,” I told the annoying person beside me.
“Are you alright, Braelyn?” This sudden question from my mother caused the overflowing thoughts that are running inside my head. From staring absentmindedly at my plate and just playing with my food, I raised my head to look at my mother, who was staring back at me with a frown on her face. And my father was doing the same thing. The reactions on their faces are mixed with confusion and worry. “I am fine,” I dryly answered my mother. It was my father’s turn to ask. “Are you sure you’re fine?” I stared back at my food. “Hmm...” was my only answer in a small voice. My parents, who seemed to understand that I do not want them to pry anymore, stopped asking after that and continued to eat, though I can feel them glance at me from time to time, which made me sigh. Then I finally decided to just stop eating since I don’t have an appetite anyway. “You’re done eating?” My father asked when I stood while holding my plate. “Hmm,” I answered with a nod before proceeding to put my plate int
I was trying not to look at Caesar or pay attention to him, but I couldn't help myself, especially since the woman, who happened to be one of Tyler's cousins who had traveled all the way from the province to attend the wedding, was giggling nonstop and throwing compliments at Caesar, which sounded like her own form of flirting. One look at them, and everyone can already tell that the woman is interested in Caesar. The way she acts around him, clinging to him and never leaving his side as if she’s trying to claim her territory in case any of the women present try to flirt with Cesar, and her continuous giggling in a flirtatious manner is screaming, “I want this man, and I will have him at any cost.”As for Caesar, he seemed to not mind how the woman was acting toward him. He even seems to love the attention the woman is giving him.Is he not feeling hot or annoyed by how the woman coiled around him like a leech? If it were the high school Caesar, he definitely wouldn’t let that kind of
“Hey, cousin.” It was Tyler who first responded while I just stared at the two blankly. I centered my gaze on Tyler’s cousin, namely Mara. It seems that being good-looking runs in their blood because she’s definitely beautiful; I won’t deny that. She’s got such a sexy and alluring figure that any guy who sees her would probably give her a second look. If I'm going to base it on looks, she would really be the perfect match for Caesar. But looks aren’t the only thing that’s important, right? The personality, attitude, and behaviors are way more important in creating a relationship, and I would stand by my opinion that her personality and Caesar’s personality do not really click, at least for me. “Won’t you even introduce me to this beautiful friend of yours?” Mara asked Tyler, a smile plastered on her face as she glanced at me, then back to Tyler. “Oh, of course. Mara, this is Braelyn, Raine's cousin and Caesar's best friend,” Tyler said, turning to me. “Brae, this is Mara. My cousin
Tyler’s POV "What was that?" I asked my cousin Mara when Caesar and Brae were finally out of sight. Now I can finally hold my cousin accountable for what she did to Brae. "What do you mean?" Mara questioned, trying to appear innocent despite the fact that she was well aware of what I was talking about. I put down the wine glass I was holding. “You know what you did, Mara. You were provoking Brae,” I said in a serious tone while facing her. "You might not have directly said it, but I knew you were insulting her. Why? Is it because we used to date? If that is the case, then do you want to insult me too? Since I am now marrying my ex-girlfriend's cousin, do you now find me disgusting?" "No!" Mara quickly replied. "That's not it..." "Then what?" The tone of my voice is unchanged. It remained serious as I continued to question my cousin. "It's because she's close to Caesar!" "Because she's close to Caesar? That is why you were being mean? Mara, they're best friends! Of course they ar
Caesar looked quite surprised at the answer I had given him. "You thought I wanted to end our friendship?" he asked after a few moments. His voice was filled with disbelief."Well, you were avoiding me, so I thought..."Caesar turned speechless for a moment as he stared at me, who was staring back at him."Well, honestly, part of the reason why I avoided you was because I was still in pain after being coldly rejected by you. But the main reason is because I thought you didn't want to see me anymore," Caesar said in a calm manner after a couple of minutes. As soon as I heard the first line he uttered, my heart tightened with guilt, but I ignored it to keep things from getting awkward and answered his second statement instead. "And I thought the same thing. I thought it was you who didn't want to be near me, and that is why you were avoiding me.""I was avoiding you because I thought you hated me.""Hate you? No. I don't hate you!" I quickly answered, surprising Caesar and making him go
"Ahm, can you remind me again why we are doing this?" Raine asked me as we were secretly looking at Mara and Caesar, who were inside a boutique, looking at clothes while having a conversation with smiles on their faces. We are currently in a mall, sitting near the escalator and only a few steps away from the boutique where Caesar and Mara are."We are just purely doing this out of curiosity." I answered her in a weak voice without even looking at her because I didn't really separate my gaze from the two.Raine lifted one of her eyebrows as she stared at me. "We? You mean to say: out of your own curiosity?" She snarled before adding, "And we're not really sure if we're really just doing this because you're curious."I was still staring at Caesar and Mara when I answered Raine. "Be quiet, Mara. I didn't force you to come with me. You're the one who insists on coming because you just want to catch gossip.""Hey, that's such a mean thing to say. What are you saying that I just want to cat
"What are you doing here? I thought you planned to stay at home all day?" Caesar asked me, surprised but smiling. I gave Caesar a forced smile. I was suddenly confused and nervous, and my brain also seemed to go blank, which is why I couldn’t immediately come up with something to answer him. I remember telling him yesterday, after he dropped me off, that I had no intentions to leave and would simply stay at home. I also told him that Raine and I had no plans to go out, but now he saw me in the same mall as he and Mara, who were out on a date. I was still trying to construct a lie when Raine came to my rescue. "Ahm, hi, Caesar? I'm here if you haven't noticed." Caesar was surprised again, and it wasn't until then that he looked at Raine. He appeared to have just noticed Raine was with me. "Oh, Raine!" He exclaimed, startled. "I didn't recognize you." Raine lifted an eyebrow. "You noticed Brae even though we were both wrapped up, but you failed to recognize me? It's not very obvio
I couldn't help but throw a couple of glances at Caesar and Mara's sides. They were sitting side by side, while I and Raine were sitting together. Mara, as usual, was being extra attentive towards Caesar again. I bet if Caesar allowed her, she would spoon-feed him.Thankfully, they haven’t gone there yet, or I might really end up throwing up all the food I ate due to disgust.“Is there a problem, Brae?” Mara asked when she suddenly looked at me and caught me stealing a glance at them. Caesar and Raine stopped eating to look at me in curiosity. “Or are you finding something funny about me to laugh at again?” Mara then added, her voice still filled with hostility directed not only towards me but only towards my Raine, who immediately turned her attention back to her food and ate again, acting as if she didn’t feel the animosity Mara has been giving the both of us.I sat straight and finally looked at her properly. I smile at her insincerely. “Look, Mara, I am sorry for offending you. I
