Anders's POV Mark stayed back at the pack house to help watch all the little pups while I went to do some heavy lifting. The people that are moving in first are the ones who had their homes destroyed. So that's where I've spent my whole afternoon, in the destroyed homes that weren't burnt down. Trying to salvage whatever we could and move furniture into the moving vans. I smiled when I felt my little mate press against the link and I quickly opened it. I wished he was here so I could wrap my arms around him. I listen to his beautiful voice in my head, letting me know that lunch is being served. I walked back toward the pack house and growled when I saw several vehicles that I didn't recognize parked in front of it. I immediately pushed on the link, concerned and needing to know he was okay. I felt relieved when I hear his voice as he opened the link. "No, it's just some people here to visit Alpha Asher. Something about trying to rent his fields while the pack is gone." He said
Mark's POV When I first heard the words that came from that idiot's mouth. I won't lie, I was confused and crushed. I didn't know what it meant. I didn't know who he was or why he said the words he was saying. "Baby I missed you!..." "I thought about you so many times over the years..." And the worst ones... "Why don't you put that thing down and come here!" I was completely crushed when I heard those words come from his mouth. I didn't know who he was, or what he meant to Anders but I was afraid. "That hideous thing is your mate?" Those words were so familiar. I was used to being called words like that. Words like hideous. I was used to being told I was ugly. But that was before I met Anders. I began to believe him when he told me I wasn't ugly. I began to believe him when he told me that I was beautiful. At least to a degree.... But hearing this person call me hideous... I was afraid in that moment that Anders would see what he saw. That Anders would see the person that
Third Person's POV Trent was surprised when they offered to give him a new place to live. That meant a new life for him. A life away from the person who's lied to him for so long. The person that made him think he loved him when he obviously never did. A life away from every memory that hurts to look at. Everywhere he looked was full of memories of either the mate he lost, or the person who lied to him. There was nothing to consider. He didn't even need to think about it. He knew the answer right away. "Yes!" He said eagerly, as he squeezed Mark's hand. Mark's face lit up and he gently squeezed Trent's hand back. "What are you talking about? What do you mean yes? You can't just leave me like that." Devin said as he pushed himself off the ground. He woke up just before Anders began talking to Trent. He didn't say anything initially because he didn't think Trent would except the offer. Which is why he scrambled to his feet and quickly approached Trent to stop him. Trent ste
Trent's POV I woke up when I felt someone shaking my shoulder. I rubbed my eyes as I opened them and looked around. I was confused at first and immediately looked for Devin while reaching for him. I was confused when I didn't see him anywhere, but instead saw strangers. Or at least initially they looked like strangers. But the confusion quickly washed away when I remembered what happened and why he's not here. The strangers were no longer strangers when I remember who they actually are. Everything quickly crashes down and reminds me that not only do I no longer have a mate, I no longer have a boyfriend either. I no longer have a chosen mate. I never received a second chance mate after Victor died. I was so lost, so alone. I was so empty for so many years after his death. I wanted to die right along with him, but I just couldn't do it. I was too weak and didn't have what it took to take my own life and join him. But everything changed when Devin asked me to go on a date with him.
Malaki's POV I lay their panting while trying to catch my breath. I kick the idiot's leg off me and reach over then shove him, causing Blake to roll onto Logan. Logan laughs as he shoves Blake who goes flying back onto me. I couldn't help but laugh at this point as well, seeing as Blake's body is practically flopping around at this point. Blake finally stops laughing enough to control himself and reach out with his foot to kick Logan before reaching up and shoving me. "You guys are such assholes!" "It's not my fault my beta doesn't know how to fight." I said then quickly stood up and took off running while laughing. He growled as he throws a rock at me. Thankfully missing my head by merely an inch. "You're lucky I'm too tired to chase your ass!" "Your aim sucks too!" "My aims perfect! I just didn't feel like listening to your ass cry if I actually hit you." This asshole said causing Logan to laugh even harder. I slid to a stop and growled as I turned back and ran straight f
Trent's POV Each time I wake up it starts all over again. I wake up reaching for him, but he's not there. I wake up confused because I don't smell him and the place smells unfamiliar. I reach out for him and feel the cold bed next to me. I wake up and cry when I realize I'm alone again. It's déjà vu, although this time not as bad as the first time. I don't wake up and immediately feel like a part of my soul is dead, because it was. Losing your soulmate, you literally lose that little part of your soul that they had. It's the emptiest, loneliest, most devastating feeling in the world. I had to experience that every time I woke up. I didn't even need to reach for him, I felt it immediately. I broke down crying immediately without even opening my eyes. I woke up in the night screaming for him when the pain would return. It's like going through withdrawals. My body was literally having withdrawals from the loss of the mate bond. That's what happens, whether your mate has died or they
Logan's POV "Stop it, stop it!... What the hell? To the right a little more!" Logan yelled then let out a breath of relief when the idiot holding the other end corrected his positioning on the beam. Jacob pressed the support beam up firmly and held the crossbeam in place. "Goddess, these idiots are going to kill me, I swear!" He mumbled to himself as he grabbed onto the side and swung himself down. "That's it, I'm done for the next hour. I need a fucking break after that one!" He said before walking away to grab something to eat. "Malik!" Logan yelled into Malaki's ear. Scaring him so bad he fell out of his chair which caused Logan to laugh. Logan saw the telltale signs that he was using the link. And judging by the look on his face he was most likely linking Gabriel. He had that lovestruck look on his face even with his eyes glazed over. He snuck up on his cousin, then yelled the shortened version of his name he's used since he was little. He yelled Malik in his ear as loud
Third Person's POVLogan closes his eyes when he feels his little mate wrap his arms around him. He leans down and rests his face against the top of his mate's head for a moment before standing up and adjusting him in his arms.He begins to head back towards the pack house, wanting to get his mate out of the rain. He can feel how cold his mate is. His skin is cold to the touch and he's trembling. He paused when he realized he wasn't exactly sure where to take him. And since he's still crying so hard he decided to just ask his Alpha. He pushed on the link and was relieved when Asher opened it.After describing who he found, Asher knew exactly who it was. "He's staying in the pack house on the third floor, room five." Asher said in the link before closing it.‘Third floor?’ he wondered to himself. Confused that he would be staying on the third floor, since that's where all the high ranks stay at Michael's pack.As Logan walked through the front door his father ran to him with a blanket
